Timmis started her journey on December 18 and has so far maintained her aim of covering 100kms a day.
At her current 100km-a-day rate, Timmis will reach Bluff on Saturday, beating the previous world record of 35 days and 27 minutes set by Welsh runner Menna Evans set in early 2020 by about two weeks.
The 37-year-old Briton, who works as an artist in Kaiapoi near Christchurch, passed the 1600km mark of the 2100km run from Cape Reinga to Bluff when she reached Timaru on Monday night (January 3).
Timmis is raising money for mental health and said just over $6000 had been raised so far.
“I was planning it for four years, but then I had a lower leg injury,” Timmis said.
“And now that I’ve recovered, I want to take the opportunity to raise funds for Youthline in New Zealand and YoungMinds in the United Kingdom.”
Her NZ run, called The Altumate Challenge 2021, is live tracked on her website where people can also donate to the charities she is raising funds for.

I just watched Emma finish the run on Prime News. Congratulations, great effort !
As someone who knows a bit of running history, I am saddened to see a large amount of disingenuous reporting on this from every source of information including from Emmas own mouth in this video.
At no stage has anyone reported that this is the woman's record, rather just saying it is 'the record'.
The record for the running the length of New Zealand is 18 days and 9 hours, set by Siegfried Bauer in 1975.
