- Steam excursions are underway for 2017! The famous N&W 611 starts the 2017 Steam Excursion season with the Virginian Excursion from Spencer NC to Lynchburg VA. We start off by seeing 611 pull out of the NCTM and chase her to locations like Lexington, Jamestown, Reidsville, Pelham, Dry Fork, Gretna and Altavista. We also catch a few freights in the Altavista area as well. Assisting 611 is one of NS's various SD40-2 units. List below:
