I've watched numerous UA-cam videos about how to carry out DIY jobs. Often the suggested fix doesn't really work. This is not one of them. I did exactly as you advised and...hey presto, no more leak. All for the price of a roll of PTFE tape, £0.36. Thank you, Al. You're a star.

A small task I've put off for 15 years (or more), fixed in about 15 minutes. That includes 5 minutes to dig out a selection of spanners/wrenches, 2 minutes to find the tape, 3 minutes to watch your video, 5 minutes to put tools away and 2 minutes to actually fix the drip. SORTED . . . but . . .
    It gets better . . .
Emboldened by my success, I remembered the tap's isolating stop cock in my cellar which gets used twice a year (to avoid frost damage) and always drips after turning on or off. Well, you guessed it . . . also sorted. I spotted your other video AFTER I fixed the stop cock. Anyway, TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE. How much should I charge myself?
    Many thanks

I'd been making excuses to avoid fixing my garden tap while looking up replacement taps. Your 3 minute video made me feel clever and stupid all in one go! But I'm very grateful for you posting it. Fixed mine in about a minute after viewing this!
7 years on, and this video is still helping people. Thank you.

Brilliant mate. Was literally just about to go out and by a new tap, then thought I’ll google it. Glad I did...saved me a lot of hassle. I’ve also avoided using the mains stop cock in the house through previous experience of them leaking after being turned off - I always crawl about on the public path outside. I now realise that I can do the same fix. After years of DIY this has somehow gone over the top of my head. Many thanks for posting.

What a great video and the only only one that I've seen that shows this excellent tip. For the past 8 years I've lived with two leaking garden taps (the fixes were a bucket under the one and a pot plant under the other) My main reason was is that a knowledgeable friend had warned me not to tackle the job due worn spindles and left hand threaded nut. So now it has taken in my less than 10 minutes to fix both taps. Just one extra tip, I used some press-stick putty to hold the unscrewed nut up to the tap so that both hands were free to put the tape round the shaft.

Cheers 👍. Still helping people 5 years later. Just fixed mine after finding this video.

Thank you! Put it off for years, but I found some flat dental floss and a C shape wrench tool from a tool kit I've never used. 5 mins later, I feel like a super woman!
Thank you for explaining so clearly and giving me the confidence to tackle something which I thought only a man can do!

Brilliant video and advice. Thank you so much! My outdoor tap has been leaking for years!! Been putting it off as I thought I needed a new one. This is now on my list of jobs for tomorrow :) Great to watch a video with no irritating music too....plus you have a nice, calm tone of voice👍

Just to add, I have now fixed my leaking tap!! Took less than about 3 minutes, which included finding my wrench and plumbers' tape😊 No more damp paving flag and bricks. Thank you once again!
