FOR THOSE WHO ARE USING 50X30X10 FIRST AND GETTING TOTAL CUBES = 27.
here the question is "find the min. no. of cubes" which means we have to take size of the max.
and for max. size you have to take each side "as close as possible".i.e. 40x30x20=2400 and not 50x30x10=1500.
simple way to keep in mind is to know that large area of 50*50*10 will be wasted with 10*10*10 and give too many cubes, we should use small area of 40*30*10 .

size of cuboid | size of the cube
50 *40 * 30 | 30 *30 *30 = 1 cube
50 * 30 *10 | 10 *10 *10 = 15 cube
30 * 30 * 30 | 20 *20 *20 = 2 cube
20 * 20 * 10 | 10 * 10 *10 = 2 cube.
Total = 20 cubes
@@mayuripatil4922 I think in your fourth statement you will have only one cube of 20*20*20 and in fifth you will have 4 cubes of 10*10*10.

By just taking the difference between of the highest number (50) and the lowest number (30) that can also give the answer. Like (50*40*30) = (50-30 =20) or (50-40= 10.. 40-30= 10 then later 10+10= 20) Please guide me sir if it's a unethical solution to the answer

every thing was crystal clear except one thing,,,you didn't explain why in the 2nd step you took 10*30*30 as a piece to divide further and why not 50*10*30 as a piece to divide further,,,cause both of them would give different answers,,1st one which you took gave 20 as minimum number of cubes,,but if you take the second dimension,,it will give 27 cubes,,subtle but important point,,if people start dividing the wrong slide in 2nd step,,they will get lost and will end up with wrong answer even after such lengthy efforts being put into it
can this problem be solved using maxima minima?

Concept matters most. ;) In CAT this will be a LRDI set kind of and you have enough time to solve a LRDI set in CAT

In the second step we have 2 alternatives . 30*30*10 or 30*30*20. And the answer will be 27 if we take 2nd alternative. How to select from the 2 alternatives

after cutting the 30X30X30 cube how to select which remaining cuboid to take first ? i took the 10X30X50 cuboid (front cuboid)first and cut it in 15 10X10X10 cubes, proceeding further in this way i got more than a total of 20 cubes . how to determine which remaining cuboid to operate first . ?

just know that a knife only cuts left to right and up to down.....so you may think as you are cutting a cake if you are cutting left to right on a cake the cake's frosting layer is cut,and up to down is just how you cut the cake on ur birthday, u cut a small volume of the larger volume of the cake

No.. for this kind of questions you have to draw the figure.. because normally it would be a good LRDI set in CAT.. It requires effort..
Hi, for this kind of questions you have to draw figure because u need to visualise this and reach till last step.. moreover this kind of questions are of recent LRDI level of CAT .. so make diagram and solve till last.
