I think its also really accessable for videos. So much of tf2 is based on humor and you can boot up any video and probably laugh at something inside the content. Or watch a spy wipe out an entire team in 3 seconds. Also the characters are the easiest to get ahold of and make animations out of (even asides sfm)

This man's comedy is so advanced I can't even tell when he said Nemesis Blue if it was intentional or not. Truly a talent. I had typed out an entire paragraph of why I don't think the magic TF2 can ever be replaced, not even by a Tf3. But then I deleted it because it made me sad thinking that TF2 will not last forever. And once it's gone it will be gone. It is a product of being a pioneer of the genre, you can't replicate the respect and impression being one of the first or improving aspects of the genre gives on players. Anyway on a lighter note, thank God only my username appeared on your POV because if you saw how much that spy in a fursuit kept kicking my tail I would never recover my already defeated sense of honor.

I just had this neat idea for a video, i don't know what you would call it but basically you equip a sticky bomb launcher and the caber, sticky jump into the air, while crouching, and hit the ground/an enemy just before landing.
I disagree that there can never be another tf2, but I do think it will potentially never be capitalized on like how tf2 did again. In my opinion games made today are made catered more so towards the esports audience, so just having a casual experience isnt possible. I also think newer hero shooters spread themselves far too wide with their cast selection. It all just ends up being too much for me, having to learn like 70 different characters just to see who I enjoy playing isnt fun. It also doesnt help that at a point they just start overlapping because theres so much of them. I don't really think people recognize how impactful the alternative weapons were for replayability. I know some people dont like its addition, but it just makes playing the game so much more fun. I love being able to play the same character, but with just slight deviations when I get bored. Not to mention being able to just change a part of the characters kit you dont like, being able to mix and match item combinations is probably one of my favorite things. This paired with how all the mercs are almost all "generalists" of course they're made for specific roles, but that doesnt you from playing demo on attack, or battle medic. Or course they have bad match ups, but its not nearly as punishing as it is in other shooters. This all paired with a lack of community tools (like community servers) just makes it super easy to burn out on newer games. Not to mention the hyper aggressive monitization tatics some of these games employ (Looking at $100 Valorant skins) Which like I know tf2 invented it, and I dont really like it there either. However there is something to he said how items can be resold, and buying most actual hats wont cost you near that much unless you're going for an unusual or something.
I don’t think it can’t happen, but like you said, games are so hyperfocused on being an e-sports star we will never see a “silly hat game” for a LOONG time - and isnt that the magic of TF2?

Yeah, the artists within TF2 are the main driving force for the community, they're even the reason I found TF2 on 2021! Plus the community being mostly positive (ignore the racist cheaters and bots) is why I can't stray away from TF2 for long.
Tf2 just have too much Things that make it unique and cool. If someone tries to just copy it (oh wait, it's already happened) it still won't produce the same result. You see, if someone were to kill the deadliest creature on the planet with a single blow, I'd say, "Is that a reference to Saxton Hale?"
TF2 won't die, but it will get worse. Driven to stagnation by endless bloat getting added (oh boy! another update with 4 bad maps and 1 good one. yipee! I guess we'll probably start getting equally bad vscript modes that'll be dead before the next update as well). The art style will degrade more and more, condemning TF2 to it's fate in the past as a game that refuses to die. It'll never get a CS2 treatment - there's too much bloat. It's Valve's lab rat, they inject whatever weird junk they want into it to see what works, because it's cursed with immortality, they never need to worry about keeping it alive or healthy. They don't port every ugly working, art-style breaking workshop hat? riot. They don't bring over every horrible map? Riot. They leave junk like PASS time or Mannpower in the past? Riot. They don't bring every weapon over? riot. Hopefully we'll get a TF3. a clean slate with the needed gameplay consolidation, art-style de-greasing, and core improvements that the game desperately needs. Anything to get rid of the stagnation the game's currently plagued with. Bring over just the best maps, refine them for the inevitably tweaked features, and you'll have a game that'll be unkillable for half a century.
You make great points, but the thing is Valve has been adding community created content since 2010. For 13 years we’ve been getting maps and hats and each time people have said the same thing. In my tenure on TF2 I don’t feel like anything has really changed. The game was always meant to be a wacky cartoon shooter and breaking the art style means nothing to me. Hell, look at the Manno-Technology Bundle. It was released in 2011 and there isn’t an item there that fits the art style. The game and the items within it feels the exact same as when I started playing. Also, new maps have always been added and people always return to 2Fort, Harvest, and Upward. Not because the new maps are bad, but because it’s what people are used to. And the maps don’t really become bloat because there’s many people who do enjoy those maps. I know several people who still play on Watergate. Different strokes, y’know? Tf3 would be nice for sure but we can keep dreaming on that one haha Thanks for stoppin’ by and leaving a comment :)
