Just a few things... 1. For the anti lynching bill he just wanted to strengthen the language so people don't get accused of a federal crimes too easily - which is a real issue. In other words people may get accused of a crime they committed and then, we tack on lynching. 2. I believe it takes more courage to be the 2 in the 97-2 vote for the 911 victims compensation. The bill sounds good from the outside, but this is basically a blank check for families involved directly or indirectly until 2092. That's a bit excessive. Also, he wasn't totally against a bill of this nature - as he offered an amendment that would better define who gets funds but it was rejected. 3. He is very Libertarian - so of course he's not going to be for gun regulations, and of course he'd be against parts of the civil rights act when it comes to being told what you can and can not do with your own property. That is not to say that he is for racism, but simply recognizing people are free to be racist if they choose.
Nowthis is just super liberal, with a audience of people who mostly agree with them and won't do anymore research outside of watching their videos. Most of the reasons why he voted or said certain things are legitimate. He's been one of the most consistent senators of all time (except for the flip flopping on trump, although he still calls trump out from time to time)
