For mounting chargers etc, after fixing the two screws and mounting the charger I always place a screw tight in against the top. It makes it easier to unplug the battery using one hand and without lifting the charger.

I never thought of using tape to measure the distance of the holes on the back of things. Great idea.

Brilliant! Using painters tape to make holes and a transfer on the wall for mounting items is one of my go to’s. Keep up the great work as the goal is for us to continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼

2:06 don't try to tighten or loosen a newer brushless drill like that with your hand. My new Ryobi has all kinds of torque and speed and burned the crap out of my hand doing that yesterday! I think it warns you in the directions, but of course I didn't read then because I've been doing it this way for 30 years! It's made so you can tighten and loosen with the drill not running. Think it must have a like a brake on the chuck when the drill isn't running. I have a nice blister between my thumb and index finger right now!

Liked for the wooden threads strength test and the drawing of the egg shape with nails and string.
The first really surprised me in a positive way, and the second was a great little trick I will definitely remember.

I bet those threads wouldn't hold that well if he threaded them into pine. :-) I have done the threads into wood, but used a tap rather than making my own.

...definitely, that was ingenious 👍 ...it's this little techniques like these, is what we should've been taught in school 🤔 ..I can't think of any life experiences that I'm using, that I learned in school, besides reading and writing.
It was out of school, is where I learned most of my knowledge, from other adults with life experiences.

Unlike other hacks, thank you for NOT modifying tools or accessories. People who are inexperienced will try things like used c.d.'s as grinder wheels, or bent table saw blades as to bore holes. There is a tool for every job.

The thread strength test is a bit biased given the stock used to test was a softer wood than the threaded stock. If the user used the same would then it would give a better indication especially given that generally joiners will use the same type of wood for a single piece.

Or... do it again same wood no thread! And test it

  • @myrond3588

That bolt cut at 4:00 also works great for cleaning threads. Make the slit a little bigger and it gives rust and crud somewhere to collect or fall out similar to a tap.

3:38 When using his technique to create threads in soft wood, I like to drizzle a little thin CA glue in the hole to stiffen the threads. After the glue dries I run the bolt in and out a couple of times with some paste wax on it to reduce the friction.
Also, 3 nails and a loop of string makes a perfect egg shape, and 2 nails + the string makes an ellipse.

What exactly is new and ingenious about plugging a screw hole? People have been doing this for hundreds of years!
The threaded wood was an interesting idea, but the thread durability depends on the wood type.

Working out the centre of the circle 👏🏽

    • @pa28cfi
      @pa28cfi 2 роки тому

Easy way is take a builders square or anything with a true 90º angle. Place the 90º corner at any place on the circumference circle and mark where the legs of the square intersect the circle. Draw a line between those two marks. The line between those two marks is a diameter. Do it again at another spot on the circle. The intersection of the two diameters is the centre. No need for measuring.
