Depends on the internal components. Gaskets and such aren’t too bad but pistons and cylinders are very expensive. I spared no expense since I didn’t have any info on the engine use or hours and was going out onto the ocean. 2000 hours isn’t much and these engines are designed fairly well as far as gaskets and seals. I would worry much about it myself.
Hi there. I can only dream to rebuild that engine the way you did. My problem is that I can't find original glow plugs. All replacement codes that I am getting are showing the glow plug that's different diameter at the top. Any advice I'll be very grateful. Cheers mate👍.
I have the same motor to refresh in a trawler. 2000 hours and a bit rusty. Runs well but worried an old seal or something will shrink and slide out and it will be all over. $10k 20K? just wondering what to prepare myself for.
Question did you need to remove the impeller and the housing to be able to remove the fuel injection pump? My dad has been trying for 10 years and apparently can’t figure it out
I'm not sure since i broke the entire engine down without regard to sequence. I would think the impeller and pump gears would be removed without removing the housing. Sorry for the delayed response.
Magical engine the best engine ever made, it burns no fuel it’s magical. I have two of them one as a spare.
Nice job,well done

I have two in an 1986 29 Topaz and I can confirm they are very, very stingy on fuel. Not exactly an extreme powerhouse but 165hp gets the job done.
why would you try to talk over the engine running dude nobody can hear what you're saying lol
