    I was thinking it would be cool to do a plunge cut to take out some of the material in the center of the shield to reduce the weight.

    • @cainesarmoury8962
      @cainesarmoury8962 7 років тому +1

      I was thinking the same, an offcut using the same technique. Though most shields are rounded using a shield press.

      HappyAtom Oh man, but hey, the hylian shield and master sword designs remained the same from skyward sword so the ones you made can be Considered BOTW as well!

    • @HappyAtom
      @HappyAtom  7 років тому

      Right! I admit I was excited about that. I think the only difference is the rivets on the scabbard are a different color and the shield has leather on the handle now. I need to double check. How's your scabbard going?

      If you don't have a table saw research a shield press. Might take some inventive cutting (like globe spheres) but wood bends very easily when it's thin! Just layer it for thickness. Alternatively, a SpokeShave would help round it by hand!

  • @thisisridiculous337
    @thisisridiculous337 7 років тому

    You should use that method but leave the ripples, then carve some form of water animal/creature onto it and then have a cool water rippled shield. 👌

    Hello Atom.
    It has been a while since you uploaded something and since I asked if it is possible to make the Spirit Flute from LoZ Sprit Tracks, but I'm wondering how that is going. Have you tried to make it?
    For me it is completely fine if it doesn't sound like the original flute, as long as it does look like it.
    Yours sincerely, Amanda.

    • @HappyAtom
      @HappyAtom  6 років тому

      Good news Amanda. After the last video, two viewers have replied to me that they are starting work on a flute and will share the process with me! Once they get back to me we will make a flute.

    I feel like that jig would've been 100x safer if it had slides to go in the ways of your tablesaw, rather than just up against the fence. I see that your tablesaw doesn't seem to have ways though.

    Personally, I think Wood Turning it would have been better for both getting the corners off and making the dome.

    • @johnzamer3142
      @johnzamer3142 4 роки тому

      What does that mean

    • @BurstFlare
      @BurstFlare 4 роки тому

      @@johnzamer3142 I think what I meant was, it would be easier to make it into a circular domed shield because the wood itself would be spinning, plus you can sand it that way. But that was two years ago, so I don't remember.
