I have to say, what stopped me dead in my tracks was listening to all the teachers out there who said "the best way is to start with a limited color pallet"... That may work for some, but I found trying to learn to mix expensive paint together and not getting the colors that I was trying to get completely crippling. I cant afford to run through tubes of paint that costs $15 - $30+ a pop, plus expensive paper trying to figure things out. Thankfully I was determined , so I got the MeiLiang Watercolor Paint Set, 36 Vivid Colors (they also have the same set in tubes so I can refill my pans as they run out) and it has helped me *SOOO* much! I also got some Artisto Watercolor Pads for playing\ practicing on
I also agree, mix your expensive paints with the more budget friendly ones! I was recently watching a video and the woman was talking about mixing 2 specific colors to get a certain color and I thought "I have the one color in my expensive paints and the other in my other plait, I could mix them". A year ago that would have *Never* crossed my mind!
Thank you for sharing your experience! Yes, we can get so caught up in the rules and details and then never actually paint! By the way, I have that Mei Liang palette and I love it! In fact, they just sent me their paint put in tubes and I’m excited to try that as well. Tutorial and review coming soon.
Limited palette or 100 colors, we just have to use what we have!
Wonderful message and beautiful painting!❤
