@@scottoneeleven the cam phaser issue is being a bit over inflated. I really don’t think it’s effecting that many trucks. The ones that are seem to show up pretty early on so it covered. You could always get an extended warranty if it’s really that big a deal. If it does happen to ur truck it doesn’t mean it’s destroyed or gonna leave u stranded the noise goes away very quickly. Furthermore it seems like maintenance can make the difference. At least when concerning to the 3.5 eco. Not to mention the engine has variable cam and cylinder deactivation in a freakin 4 cylinder. And to top it off the fuel mileage isn’t impressive at all so what’s the point of a 4 cylinder in the first place.
Hi Jason, I think I saw on another video where you can get an small metal adaptor [ like the end of your seatbelt ] which you plug into the seat belt which allows you not to have one on. Not the best for on road driving of course.
If you get a new bumper for yours I would love to see you review the 589 Rallye Bumper they make for it. The thing I hate the most is that you can’t change out the LED Headlights because it’s a sealed housing. But if you get any other trim you can change out the low and high beams EASYILY.💩
@mrt3206 that's the bumper that interest me. I think downtime lost has it on his channel and I really like it. Agree I honestly hate all factory led lights now. Expensive to replace and no better than a 50 dollar Amazon led bulb in a halogen housing. I've had 4 trucks with fsctor led and 7 trucks with halogen housing with Amazon led bulbs from lasfit, auxbeam, Hikari, etc. No advantage to the factory ones in my opinion
Chevy trucks feel giant, because of the length of the hood. I've test drove all of the American 2500's at this point, and despite the Silverado 2500HD being just as big as the F-250, it feels so much larger.
That honk almost put me into a road rage assault once. I was out to check something and some guy was driving past my truck when the honk beeped. He thought it was me honking at him on purpose so he got mad. Luckily I was able to drove away before he got any closer. Besides this, does anyone feel those screens are really trashy? Mine look washed out and white when dimmed. Even the screens on my gfs trax looks better at night.
The toyota tundra is the same way with the seat belt chime. It drives me crazy while im driving in my field or backing up to a trailor. Totally unnecessary to have a loud seat belt chime. Id love to have it turned off or the volume turned down but so far I’ve found no fix
I've got nitpicks about the Frontier too bit I've fixed a couple of them. The big one I have and can't change unless I want to spent thousands, is the lack of adjustability in the audio settings. There is NO adjustability for Mid range or Subwoofer level. The base system has that and more yet the Fender doesnt. The 3rd brake light is incandescent bulbs....yet EVERYTHING else is LED 😂...I did find LED replacement bulbs so that's coming soon The need to turn off half the tech just to back up with the tail gate down or hooked to a trailer. Truck thinks your gonna hit something when backing up 😂 can't really do much about that one either. Things I've fixed or soon to fix Bypassed the Auto Start Stop. Installed extended hood struts so the hood can be opened higher. Relocated the axle breather. Waiting for Z1 to send my larger under seat bin. I have plans to disassociate the fogs from the headlights. My old jeep I could run fogs independently of the headlights, newer vehicles you can't do that. Overall I love the truck and it's simplicity and it still has that old school truck feel.
@keithhunt3437 what year and does it have auto head lights? Everything I've had newer then 2008 I couldn't run em separately, that included a 2014 escape
@@D41Michigan 2024 and yes it does. U can have auto headlights on or off and control the fog lights separately. Or u can’t turn the headlights completely off and still control the fog lights.
@keithhunt3437 yeah that's what I'm talking about. Not being able to run fogs WITHOUT headlight being on. I can toggle them on and off separately but even when switched on, they will not activate unless the headlights are on. That's in auto mode or manual mode.
One thing I don't like about my 2024 ZR2 is not being able to turn the airbag light off...bugs the hell out of me ,especially at night...a little electrical tape should do the trick 😅
I literally have the same truck, color, sunroof, packages, etc. Only addition is I got the underbody cameras. Once the stock tire wear out I’m hoping to go to 34’s or at least a legit 33 and call it a day. Had 35’s on my prior truck and I’m over it.
Those lights on your dash are just red LEDs, if someone wants a heads up display they order there truck with one, the beeping can be turned off in the settings it's under the vehicle options
Not too nitpicky given the price. All those things would annoy me as well, especially no 12 volt up front and no power or lights in the bed. I would add; no overhead sunglasses holder, no frame mounted rock rails, no axle ratio options on any trim, technology that spies and reports on you, poor interior storage, small and sharp angled windshield offering poor visibility, no transmission dipstick and cheap plastic bumpers.
lol you kinda sound like Peter Griffin " you know what grinds my gears" ... Worthy points sir, but what do you ecpect for 50K haha. really hate the 3 honk horn honk the most
Don't think my Jeep horn-honks if I leave the key-fob in it (don't recall mine doing that), but I did turn off (disabled in settings) the horn honking when I locked the truck using the key-fob as I didn't want to disturb my apartment neighbors, especially when I came home late at night (be it parking in the general parking lot or in the apartment's attached garage). But I have a Jeep (2021 Gladiator) that allows you to do that, which I thought was a nice feature by the Jeep designers. Now it key-fob locks silently. However, some OTHER neighbors have that horn-honking "feature" (and we all hear them)...but I don't think they have any option to disable it. BTW, my 2021 Gladiator Rubicon was $50K back in April 2021 when I got it new off a dealer's lot ($50,263 exactly and ~$4500 under MSRP as-optioned). How times -- and prices -- have changed since then. ;-) -- BR

@tomglpn excellent question! Honest answer is I know I use my trucks as tools but I seldom trade them in. I prefer to sell private when I can. So I maintain them meticulously, as if I was going to keep them forever. Makes me feel good knowing who buys them gets that attention and care in the vehicle they buy. Plus it let's me sell higher than most. In the world of 10k oil changes and vehicles that do not get taken care of, I can get high dollar for mine when I find the buyers fhst understand the value of what I do to take care of them. So it's a 3 way win. I feel good selling it as perfect, buyer is excited knowing it's so well taken care of, and I get a little extra money for the effort

That is NOT an off road vehicle! Its a shiny mall crawler designed to navigate speed bumps and level dirt roads. Get yourself an off road buggy/side by side...
Phew... A few observations/comments: -Annoying and "exhaustively annoying" are big with this guy. -Every gripe you have about the tech can be fixed in setting with the exception of where it indicates 2wd or 4wd (which is on the dash to keep people from having to look down on the console, instead it's on the dash and one can still keep what's coming in their extended vision), and the seatbelt chime. Gee, I don't know, maybe you can simply leave it buckled and sit on it. -The hood... Well I've never had a problem seeing over it. Perhaps he needs a seat cushion to sit on to make himself tall enough..? -He is worried about ramming mud over the skid plate and into the cooling ducts... I've got nothing for you. If you're ramming your truck that deep into terrafirma on a regular basis, perhaps this isn't the truck for you. -As far as a brush bar on the front, sounds good. I'm getting one for mine, just because there are deer that seem to like playing chicken with cars in my area and I'm hoping it will help. -Fog lights that don't automatically come on whenever it's dark? What's the expression, "...if you have to ask, you're not going to listen to the answer". -Lights in the bed? Interesting. This is my 3rd ZR2. I had a 1998, a 2022, and now a 2025, and I've never thought of the lack of lights inside the bed as "...really annoying!". I just use the bed light on the back of the cab. I don't have a cover, instead I have a sliding drawer (which has lights inside the drawers). Well I hope he's happy with his truck. I do love the color--my last two have both been the desert tan, and I love it. Great dirt color! In closing. I would love to hear from his wife, I mean have her tell us how she feels about it seeing how she's been the one driving it. Apparently he is still driving his jeep. Just a thought.

I’ve come to realize that there’s really not a single midsize truck that does everything or have everything to beat out the others. Each truck is kinda missing that key thing. I’d say the TRD Tacoma is the closest but it’s just wayyyy to expensive and then you get no back seats. So maybe trail hunter is maybe the best overall? But again just to expensive
Ranger Raptor has cam phaser issues. Looked at a new one yesterday and wanted it but can’t live with that paranoia. Can’t wait for my 2025 ZR2.
Obi not the same motor but the same idea. 2.7 L3B seems to be a great motor however the carbon build up would be something I’d worry about.
I will check that out. Thank you
The 1/2 ton hood lines are high too. Seems like all newer trucks have the "monster fire wall" syndrome.
@@puncht37 it's becoming a trend for sure.
Every good point, 5 stars.
Same beep beep beep on my 2019 silverado 1500 too hate it.
Yep the 3 beep i need to fix quick. A few comments said it's a setting i can turn off so gonna try it
If you get a new bumper for yours I would love to see you review the 589 Rallye Bumper they make for it.
Agree
My 24 z71 came with 2 bed lights
Great info. Thank you.
Another great video!
Thanks
So you're good with the cylinder deactivation and this thing running on 2 cylinders?
@@erik-g9d yep
Bed lighting is a $350 option.
Thank you.
Jason, when you plugged in the Taser Mini into your Gladiator, does it void your warranty? Just curious.
It does not. It's not a tuner. It just turns on and off certain features.
You could probably custom fabricate something to fix the hole above the skid plate.
But it has to be left open for air flow to the intercooler with is regulated by powered louvers
@Jason-Samko Yes, I was thinking something like a dirt bike radiator guard made out of thick aluminum. But it would have to be secured really well.
@THX5000 that's a brilliant idea. I put those on my drz 400 back in the day. Those were built tough and saved me many times in falls
The toyota tundra is the same way with the seat belt chime. It drives me crazy while im driving in my field or backing up to a trailor. Totally unnecessary to have a loud seat belt chime. Id love to have it turned off or the volume turned down but so far I’ve found no fix
Yep very annoying. How tazer comes out with a plug in for the colorado
I thought the four-wheel drive switch was a turn-knob (which is what it should be, I guess)
Yes agree, had a small turn-knob on the left side of my 2018 Canyon and it was out of the way and worked great
@shiftmotorsports9803 nope simple tap of the top changes auto, 2h, 4h, 4l. Turning the nob changes drive modes
@Jason-Samko yeah, they should do that the other way around. Matters less if you accidentally switch drive modes
@shiftmotorsports9803 agree 100
The 3rd brake light is incandescent bulbs....yet EVERYTHING else is LED 😂...I did find LED replacement bulbs so that's coming soon
The need to turn off half the tech just to back up with the tail gate down or hooked to a trailer. Truck thinks your gonna hit something when backing up 😂 can't really do much about that one either.
Things I've fixed or soon to fix
Bypassed the Auto Start Stop.
Ranger lets u run the fog lights separately.
@@D41Michiganyea it a pretty specific thing but it’s something I personally find useful.
WD 40 works good for taking goo from stickers off.
Thank you
I love mine but within a week the plastic bumper cover between the grille and the skid plate got bashed going through an iced over mud pit.
Had that happen to 2 of my f150s in the same situation
@ it’s all good I have every intention of putting a high clearance off road bumper on.
Thanks for the info! ❤
Very welcome
Smart stop start took care of it for me
@@ruviol perfect
Super easy to turn the key alert off.
8:12 am A friend just bought it, he's not happy. Piano black plastic, funny and true.
One thing I don't like about my 2024 ZR2 is not being able to turn the airbag light off...bugs the hell out of me ,especially at night...a little electrical tape should do the trick 😅
Tape fixes everything! Electrical tape, duck tape, hockey tape. All worth their weight in gold
Have you had a chance to see if you can fit a 34” (approx) in the factory spare location?
I have not yet. But I remeber looking under there thinking about 34 would fit when I was reviewing the zr2 and bison side by side
I literally have the same truck, color, sunroof, packages, etc. Only addition is I got the underbody cameras.
Once the stock tire wear out I’m hoping to go to 34’s or at least a legit 33 and call it a day. Had 35’s on my prior truck and I’m over it.
@geofx472 have the underbody cameras on this one too. Those are pretty cool. I plan to do the same. Out a 34 on it and call it good
Those lights on your dash are just red LEDs, if someone wants a heads up display they order there truck with one, the beeping can be turned off in the settings it's under the vehicle options
Have you driven it down many hills? The trans has a fun time adjusting and revs weirdly for me
Not yet i haven't
Maaaaaaan, you really had to dig deep for those...
Yea i did. Was pretty hard
Sadly only the Canyon gets the Heads Up Display :(
lol you kinda sound like Peter Griffin " you know what grinds my gears" ...
How times -- and prices -- have changed since then. ;-)

Yep the horn honk is annoying
I wish they would make these truck in extended cab, four doors its just to risky for us in Mexico

Because you never quite know if you’ll keep it longer, crap happens
Because he's a good guy who does the right thing, even when no one is looking, and even when it does not directly benefit himself. I know, it's a crazy concept to comprehend...
@@Jason-Samkodid you sell the 4Runner?

Thanks man
Sounds like some first world complaining there big guy. Love your videos but, I was waiting for a manager to come into screen there. The key fob beep was one of the first things that I shut off because it lets everyone at the hardware store know that THE KEY’S IN IT!
I have the same truck, I don't agree with you on the high hood. I am 6' tall and have a lot better vision in this than I did in my Silverado 1500 trailboss. But again I realise you need to come up with some dislikes.
What's with the flat spots on the fender flares?...i assume GMC uses the same ones and they put those stupid lights there?
Did you see the video where Ram truck pulling trailer, has nice F150 on trailer with a ratchet strap over hood & another strap over bed. Those flat spots would help keep straps in place for the next idiot attempting trailer it
You have to leave your key in car to stop the beeping?

When you try this hard to find things you dont like it just makes you sound unnecessarily whiny. Especially when half or more of the gripes are realistically non issues. lol
Or it means that the teucknis that good and there is very few things to complain about.
The work around on a seat belt is just clip it behind you. Problem solved.
Don't want to and shouldn't have to. It's an off road truck so it should be allowed to disable
@@Jason-Samko I don't recall old cars that made noises when you didn't click in the seatbelt didn't have the option to turn it off either so you just clipped it behind you. Only scenarios where we did that though were in our crownvics and Impalas when I was doing MP work in the service.
@kabloosh699 ford trucks since 2008 have "ranch mode" thst let's you disable the sest belt chime and my gladiator had the tazer mini that disables it

Yep, I did mine 250 then 1000.
Just wait until all those fancy GM screens don’t turn on.
They're easily replaced from Amazon. I thought that too but they're pretty generic. Some even better than factory
Could happen in any vehicle. They all buy them from the same place. But keep dreaming your brands is better.
Very true. I'm sure hoping that there will be competent people to fix them in the future.
Yeah not just GM just worrisome an industry trend to throw nothing but screens in vehicles vs analog gauges. I guess it’s almost 2025, so that’s what the average consumer wants.

Why did you buy the truck if you have so many complaints, you are a freaking Whiner!
Thanks. Need a good chuckle this morning
Phew... A few observations/comments:
-Annoying and "exhaustively annoying" are big with this guy.
