You need to wrap the line a number of times around the stick and the scale. Doing so, takes pressure off the knot.

And probably use a ratchet strap to evenly and consistently add the load.

Kastking upgraded their formula this year, and those listings are marked with [upgraded] in the title, it would be interesting to see how this compares in your tests. In my tests with it, the 10lb consistently broke at right around 14lb.

Use a Berkley Braid or Fish N Fool knot to see what the line itself will hold. Those knots typically hold 130% or more of the line strength. Also, use a heavy leader around the anchor points and a heavy swivel to attach the line on both ends. Tying to a large diameter scale hook or wood dowel will increase the angle of pull on the line and reduce the results.

0.22mm Kastking braid was overkill for a freshwater Drum that I caught in the Missouri River. It was at least 20 inches and made the drag scream a bit. I think 14mm could have done the job. Maybe less without horsing it. I'll be buying this along with JOF and Sea Knight Tri-Poseidon.

I used to use kastking braid but it would eat through my eyelets and has made ridges in my spinning reels on the bail where the line goes through it. It's a very rough/chunky braid almost like a saw. Went back to spiderwire stealth

Make sure to use the same knot each time... I think you mentioned that you were using different knots... changing knots will give different breaking strengths, and all the failures seemed to be at or near the knot.

I hate to tell you but your test is flawed. No offense you have a great presentation but a short strand of line is not representative of the overall durability of fishing line you should be testing with at least 12-15 ft Because when you shorten the line You're effectively taking away torque that the company had in mind when testing. In the auto mechanic industry you can break wrenches and sockets and bolts all day but adding a few extra feet gets the job done 90% of the time no sweat. Thanks

    • @fishyaker

good vid but there is NO line that is not affected by the knot -- to get an accurate line strength you have to use 2 dowels rap several raps around a dowel the pull the dowel with the scale -- I have noticed the SuperPower Braid is very small compared to PPro

I do a lot of surf fishing and use kastking once and that was enough for me to not use it anymore rather pay more and buy suffix spiderwire or mustad that is cheaper and works great. Power pro is ridiculously expensive and when you cast on strong wind creates to much nesting on line.

Well, I just bought some 30lb line from them and the sealine 30 that I'm gonna put it on has 15 lbs of drag so I should be good. At least I hope so anyway. Man I would hate to lose a good fish because I wanted to save a couple bucks on line

Guys I just don't know it comes to this braided line situation. I am a power pro guy all the way and growing up I have used spiderwire stealth which would probably remain my second choice. However I have not tried the kastking braided line... just tonight I did order a extremely large 1000 + yard spool of 30 lb kastking braid. I feel these tests can be flawed and so many different ways. But I also feel like paying the price for Power Pro gets a little old after a while. I mean especially when you have numerous reels you are spoiling up... Just saying...

I've been using the 40lb super 8 by them for the better part of 6 years now and haven't had an issue catching everything from 2lb bass to 110lb gators. Just put 65lb extremus on a saltwater setup haven't had any issues there either. I did notice with the lighter end of their lineup the line had a tendency to break if placed under rapid stress i.e. hook sets. Also buying from eBay, even though from kastking, could result in older line like they found a box that didn't sell and still wanted to make money

Sorry I felt necessary to make a second comment. Even though growing up a freshwater fishing until I move to South Florida several years ago as said I always use spiderwire stealth. Once introduced to Power Pro I really have not looked back. I still love my spiderwire stealth but I have noticed it has a little more tendency to fray than Power Pro. So I will check this cash king braided line out and let you know my results. Again if Power Pro was just not so damn expensive I would stick with it one hundred percent.

Don't use a knot, you're weakening the line at the knot. This isn't a accurate test. You should make a knot and wind it around the hook. ua-cam.com/video/pgfDwzj_P6w/v-deo.html these test are done on the old kastking superpower braid, but the method is more accurate and the line doesn't break at the knot
