I'm with Rofocowboy84 on this one.I like the eq2b's yelp.Reminds me of the early 70's Motorola yelp.Which brings images of cadillac ambulances, station wagon fire chief and police cars.
I think that is the coolest siren ever!!! Having a small County department to cover 4000 sq miles and having to run through parts of city to get there sometimes I think it is a must have!!! Good Job!!! Q siren fell off Engine last month due to rough roads. I'm ordering 2 E Q's tomorrow!!!
I dont know why, but I had the sudden urge to open 2 of this video and have 1 start after the other so it sounds like 4 sirens...lemme tell you, That is Freaking AWESOME! I highly reccomend anybody/everybody doing this!
changing sirens 400ft before an intersection is recomended to my ems service from the louisiana state police who train us to become proficient drivers of emergency vehicles. the driver in this video gets an a+ in my book.
i usually use the t3 siren like you did in this video. i ran into an engineer that told me that siren is the loudest and can be heard for the from the farthest distance away (compared to other sirens). im a paramedic, when im driving code 3 and i use my sirens the same way you did and alternating sirens at intersections. this should be a training video. well done!
Excellent Control of your unit at all times. Looks like you took the same Defensive Driving courses (2) I had. Great job with their moto in mind- - -"Always Look For A Way Out - -SAFELY"
ofd, some city and county municipalities REQUIRE you run warning lights and sirens in unison REGARDLESS of traffic. I COMPLETELY agree that it is an annoyance; however it may or may not be medic516's choice in the matter - just having to follow protocol.
Wow, that's an excellent combination of sirens. I wish all ambulances could have this as standard! It would get more people out of the way, especially those who are distracted, texting, blasting music, etc.
I live in Arizona and they use the eq2b for the city department and ladder and other engine uses the q siren the modern q siren and the district behind my house kind of uses the q siren aswell and whelen siren
We recently had a case (in Ohio) where a sheriff pursuit from a neighboring county had entered our county, that unfortunately ended with a collision with a passenger van, killing an entire family. Siren use was a HUGE issue, as that deputy was reported by witnesses as running only lights. Every resident on the pursuit route was questioned as to whether or not sirens were heard. I don't CARE if I inconvenience a malcontent resident, I'll run sirens as required by Ohio Revised Code.
sounds like both sirens can be heard inside and outside of the vehicle outside is just louder close up and sounded like a pa 300, an eq2b,and a standard q2b, 3 sirens now that will get people to pay attention to the emergency vehicles as well as the road and to get off their cell phones and to not text while driving
I understand. In Germany the law says that lights and siren may only be used in case of danger to life and limb or material assets (a fire for example or a bad crime). So when someone calls, the dispatcher decides if exclusive rights are given or not. When an emergency can´t be classified as urgend or not, he will allways give prio 1 (execlusive rights) because of precaution. So that´s why we don´t use 4 prio´s.
Configuring the cab for two sirens must have given the outfitter headaches---left-foot "cycle" and "air horn" switches for the e-Q2B, with the presumed 295HFS rigged to the steering-wheel horn button, perhaps? At least the 295 provides a point for controlling the lights; Federal Signal built the e-Q2B as essentially a standalone siren/amplifier.
Having been a member of that sevice, and driven that ambulance, all the actions in that video are totally in practice *for that service*. You're rules may differ.
my state uses priority 2 to say okay you need to get there but no lights no sirens. Basically you don't have time to put things away get up and leave. a priority 3 call means take your sweet time and priority 1 is get your ass there asap lights sirens.
I do think that's a very effective siren combo. I don't particularly like when they changed to the wail at ~3:00, and the only reason I don't is because it makes it sound like there are more than one unit and could potentially confuse a driver. Nonetheless, good response video. Keep it safe out there y'all.
Very nice to see how responders are driven in the USA ! I´am working for a auxiliary fire brigade in Germany. Wow, that siren is awesome and has so many different sounds ! I don´t know your codes. We don´t have it here. What means "code 3" ? Is it a medical emergency ? Thanks for your answer !
i agree that firetrucks and ems squads should the best protection as far as sound warning goes but when i hear a Q i think of a fire truck, not an ambulance
actually that depends upon the state. In Michigan its against the law to go with just your lights on. If your lights are flashing your siren is making noise. If not thats a moving offense
An EQ-2B offers low tones but that's all. If you listen to a mechanical Q siren it is definitely louder. Some places use TImberwolf or other low-watt mechanical sirens instead to get better audio effects.
@canuck101 what about three sirens? we have a powercall and carson dual with mechanical its pretty badass we can have a wail yelp and powercall and lots of other combos
what siren speakers do you use with this siren, we have the eq2b on 2 of our trucks but they sound a little different than yours.. Yours sound better. We are buying a new truck and want to use the speaker that you have. Thanks
That's your choice to run lights an no siren. Get into an accident while running lights, but no audible signal. Your butt will belong to the lawyers for the plaintiff. Here in Alabama we must use both. The mount is a very good suction mount that is mounted beside the rear view mirror. Thanks for the comment.
Nothing can beat a B&M Super Chief. LAFD used them for years and now their making a come back. Out performs a Federal Q and it's made in the USA including the brake not like the Q which has parts made in China and Mexico.
@@alexandersalarms5380 it was arguable made for fire apparatus as mechanical q replacements for departments who either couldn’t afford one or had to accommodate local government sound requirements
Just lights or lights and sirens....does it really matter? These people are risking their lives for the sake of someone elses life every time they go out on a call. Just let them do their thing. I respect and appreciate of every single our nations police officers, EMT's, and firefighters. Oh yeah, and when they're going to an emergency, get the f**k out of their way. You never know, they could be saving YOUR life one day....
Thank you. So it stands for the priority. In Germany we just have two prioritys. First one to react without lights and siren. Second is called "mit Sonderrechten" which translated means "with exclusive rights". This means that you use lights and siren. A responding just with lights makes no sense to me at all. Maybe because they have so much landscape in the USA where nobody must be warned ?! I don´t know. But thanx for the information.
@capceo I won't say you're biased, just naive. Why in the world would you NOT want the same level of protection on an ambulance that you have on a fire truck? I don't know if they still do, but when EMSA started running in Tulsa in '79, they had Qs and real air horns in addition to electronic sirens and blinding white strobes. If it clears the road, use it! Back in the day, we had Qs on Caddy roofs, squad cars AND fire trucks.
@leafsfan234 My EMS service is awesome. it completely disregards speed limits, only to "not to exceed a speed that endangers life or property." which requires good judgement, but there are times when i can get in the left lane, in good weather, and go 90+ mph. but the catch is, we have drive cameras. cameras dont lie.
And this was some excellent siren mixology.Timed just right on the arrival of the scene.

The eQ sounds better than I expected. Very nice.
Ladies and gentlemen, it does not get much better than this.

@s5medic516 I love the sound of that e-Q2B, packing up in the back of the truck with the lights going and the siren wailing is an awesome feeling.
I love this truck. I use the Q as often as I can.

Lol, why do I feel like this is out in WV? These roads are just.... there are no words haha
Federal Q sounds better than Electronic Q, but this Q version sounds better than most of the electronic ones out there.
Best siren combo on the planet......
I live in Florida! Alabama is beautiful!
Thanks!
great siren setup
i just love that federal Q siren just love that sound OMG
Wow, that's an excellent combination of sirens. I wish all ambulances could have this as standard! It would get more people out of the way, especially those who are distracted, texting, blasting music, etc.
Some EQ2Bs come with a foot pedal option.

awsome siren action!

The e-Q2B siren should be on all ambulances in North America. It would get the traffic out the way better. Great Video!!!!
ahhh.. music to my ears lol, great sirens!
i love the eq2b siren it sounds cool
kick ass video..love it..just wish we had a q2b on ours lol...sound quality is amazing...5 stars
it is thats what i mean. i love it. it makes me get that rush of excitement!!!!!
lol at 0:32 sounds like my sisters bike horn
i agree totally. the regular horns dont "cut out" the siren as long before and after. it sounds nice though.
@PNSB101 eQ's are simulated (i.e. electronic speakers). They're considerably less expensive and draw a fraction of the power.
AWESOME VID! The siren mix made my favorites!

NO use dual federal Q2B on front bumper, as well as a PA300 siren
bob pa300s are junk

have you heard them? absolute crap tones
i wish all 3 in 1 triple combo

I agree, the yelp on the Q sucks. I like the Whelen on yelp and the Q winding up and down, and air horns as needed.
omg i love the new siren setup fuckin awsome
sounds like a herd of emergency vehicles coming at you.
Thanks,,,,,more to come....stay tuned
@tankbrute6 State and federal law says when the lights and sirens must be on at the same time regardless of whether there's traffic or not
that is pretty awesome

If the ambulance were to be involved in an accident and the driver chose not to use the siren, guess who would be the lawyers favorite target.
Is it sad I get really excited by the sound of a Q-siren and even more so then its doubled up with another siren system?
Going code 3 like this is for cardiac arrest and such. Lights and siren the whole way. Less serious calls are quieter.
