There are lots of cave houses in the province with an all year internal temperature of 18 degrees. It’s true there are properties which don’t seem to have been built for the winter cold and that is a shock to people expecting the south of Spain to be warm all year round, but you get used to it and find ways to keep warm.
Yes, the Ayuntamiento will issue you a new Padrón Certificate if you need one. You can also request one online using a digital certificate if you have one.
I'd wanted to visit the Alhambra for decades ever since my mother went and brought me back the guide book. That book was leafed through until I had to bin it just before we moved to Ireland. When we got to Granada in 2016 and we went up to Plaza St Nicholas and I caught my first glimpse of it I just burst into tears. I feel that that trip was the catalyst for us moving here as it was the first time that Skatz loved Spain and enjoyed himself as he didn't on the trip before as much. Also, if you want to see flamenco then please go to the school in Granada rather than the street or bar shows as it's more authentic and so much better as a result!
@@ikerb2485 Granada is a great student city and its public transport is frequent and very cheap. A bike could be handy, although you can walk or take the bus so easily that it’s not necessary. Málaga is a good student city too, with good public transport. Lots to do and see there, I love it. Not as cheap as Granada though if you’re living on a small budget. Nerja is more of a tourist spot, I wouldn’t call it a student town. Public transport from there to Malaga isn’t frequent enough to live there and be a student in Malaga.
She says that she doesn’t care if she doesn’t eat another olive yet I’m sure she will cook with it and consume it so it’s a silly thing to say 😂 good interview though
I enjoyed this until you both engaged in gratuitous, Russia-baiting. Absolutely vile to stigmatize an entire nation and people like that. Not going to subscribe. Political grandstanding is the kiss of death for a travel channel.
I don’t remember doing that, if anything we may have made a joke but I would never stigmatise a whole nation, it’s against everything I stand for. I’m against war mongering, but that’s not about people. And we’re entitled to speak out against hatred. Also, this isn’t really a travel channel. It’s about people moving to Spain. But thanks for watching anyway. I’ll miss you.
another great and informative video.... i'm really glad i found your channel as your vids are always interesting.... i do have a question... earlier today i was on Idealista.spain and entered granada and could not find anything for rent in "granada city". is there an actual "city" named granada or is it a small village in the interior of the province of Granada? i am thinking of either Malaga or Granada but it has to be a good sized city with great transportation and medical facilities..... i am a 71 year old american and don't wanna have a car. maybe you or one of your triplet brothers can help clarify this for me..... also, thanks Ruth for the super cheerleading for your area!
Hi Richard, yes there is definitely a city called Granada, I’m actually there now visiting Ruth. Well, actually she lives in a village outside the city, but we took the bus into the city yesterday, it runs every 15 minutes. The public transport system is excellent, it cost us about 40 cents each. I’m surprised you couldn’t find any properties in the city, it’s not huge but it’s substantially bigger than a town. I would speak to some estate agents, Idealista is a good starting point but if you want to find what’s really available there’s no replacement for the people doing the job on the street.
Excellent interview - everything Ruth said is the way my Wife and I feel - we first visited Granada for 5 days for my Wife's 40th Birthday in 2016... We walked over 60 miles around the City and fell in love with I recall saying I want to live here one day. In 2018 we bought a House in the Lecrin Valley 20mins South of Granada. We plan to move over full time in 2024 when we both retire
20 minutes in and all I've heard so far is boring trivia about food and drink. Is there any part of the video that mentions things like property prices and tax regulations?
@@youtoospain Go visit and you'll find out.The only plus point of Granada which I like is its accessibility to the Sierra Nevada's skiing. Granada is a great place , for me,however, Majorca beats it hands down. You're welcome.
Really an excellent presentation. She spoke from both her head and her heart. I have to say that I am an Afro-American Journalist from the USA and have visited over 51 countries and lived in many. I still get the same joyful and inspired feeling when visiting Granada. I first visited the city back in 1999 and I will never get over my initial romance with this most beautiful city.
Glad you enjoyed it. I’m going to Granada on Thursday this week to meet up with a few people including Ruth, so I’m really looking forward to being there again.
What a great interview. Ruth has built up my curiosity about the Granada region. I think the 'ski in the morning and beach in the afternoon' statement has always been my dream. Thanks for sharing this..

Haha. Brilliant! I'm moving to Granada next month. So yes, it is a good idea. Next video please 😂
That’s great. You’ll enjoy this video tomorrow then.
Hi are you in spain now
I'm coming based on this video & might even stay! 😁
That sounds like a grand plan. Do it!
Ooo lovely background!
Yes, lush colours!
No, it's MADRID! 😃♥️♥️❤
(I used to live there as a (German) Erasmus student and had a great great great time there - I just LOVE this place ...)
It’s definitely Granada, it says so in the title. 🤣🤣🤣
It gets cold in Granada right? yet most of the houses for sale up there don't seem to have any real heating so are Granadians just really tough?
The traditional houses have thick walls & small windows. Cool in summer & warm in winter.

Hi we live in Granada too! Where does Ruth live? The tapas she mentions sounds lovely!
Awesome. She’s east of the city, close to where you turn right to go up the mountain skiing.
The only thing I liked about Granada was when I was renting my colour tv from them in the swinging 60's skatz 🤣🤣🤣
That’s a shame you’ve missed out on the wonders of the province. Maybe you did too much swinging and damaged your wonder gland.
Coronation street was Granada

Yes, do it. It’s a vibrant city with a lot of culture and you can eat well for very little.
Good student city ? Or even Malaga/Nerja. Going to be using public transport and maybe buy a bike. Thanks

Lol, she may have been exaggerating a little. And there is a difference between biting into an olive and cooking with olive oil. It’s a texture thing.
