Im ashamed to say that's the truth and nothing more to it.
Love Mike, he can make any sound amazing

The change from B major to heavy riffing in C sharp minor is very stylishly done. It changes the direction of the song - from pretty upbeat and dreamy to very dark - without sounding forced or dissonant. Superb musicians. Overall, it is surely one of their best songs.

True to that!😜
So damn true- he's truly himself and there is no one like him as you said. He is an original in his behaviour and his extraordinary talent and vocal range of 6 octaves!!
All girls love Mike Patton. Even after a 10 tear relationship my ex still has a mountain of his pictures.\
@LactoseTheIntolerant Its a common thread mate lol

Most underrated band in mankind’s history, sonically unparalleled, the musicianship sublime or in other word just fucking awesome
Spot on!
Strange sentence but yers
Feel the same with type o negative/ulver, other of my favorites bands have the recognizition they deserve I think.
Sorry. What?
They're successful in every way as musicians can be.
Fun fact: the director for this music video is Philip Stoltz, who also directed the music video for "Du Hast" in the same year (1997)
Okey, that's why the video style was familiar to me
It has the same vibes than Ich Will video
@@manuelsan4901 yeah..and both videos are directed in germany
Edvin Parmeza No wonder this video is so creepy! Great director.
Manuelsan I was thinking the same thing. I feel like rammstein copped some of this video for ich will
I remember first time hearing this song on my Sony Walkman, when I was still a teenager, drown in angst, walking down the narrow streets of Istanbul. It hit me so hard, I still recall goosebumps. This song is inexplicably important for me. I still don't know where it touched in me.
♡
Don’t worry. Angst stays with you your whole life. You’ll get used to it. Just learn to use it as a driving force.
I first heard it on Sony Walkman too! I know the feels man!

That's what's great about music.
Criminally underrated song from a criminally underrated band .
true
🤓
totally.
They aren't underrated. A ton of famous musicians list FMN and Mike Patton as one of their big influences and Patton as their favorite vocalists. Also music publications have listed FNM as one of the most influential bands.
@@user-gj2ie5no3eRight.. regarded and influential to other musicians... underrated amongst listeners
The world changes so fast, much too fast... but some songs bring you back, back to yourself, to the self you lost, a long time ago, in different days, in a different reality. This is one of these songs.
Well said
Interviewer, "what's your voice range?"
Mike, "yes"
I miss the times when not every youtube comment tried to be a meme and harvest upvotes.
@@lord_insany I miss the time when people could enjoy freedom of speech
Yes x 6
Hahaha
When you ask him what notes he can sing he says: all of them.
FNM was the 1st band that made me realize that critics are total bullshit, for a while i was avoiding king for a day and album of the year because i saw a bad rating on it, but after i heard it i knew that these 2 albums are masterpieces, experimental, various genres and not to mention patton's crazy vocal skills, so versatile and unique
FNM were always a critical darling, and their records always received strong reviews from critics for the most part, so I'm not sure what you're really on about here?
Great band! I was into them when Chuck was in the band. Of coures Mike made it better! Coming from Mr. Bungle. He started in high school. With Trey.
"King for a Day" got slated by Melody Maker when it came out in '95. Thats when I realised music magazines are absolute bullshit to pay any attention to.
True indeed, good pt
spot on mate. The sad thing is we all used to buy magazines in the 80s and early 90s and listen to some university kid give it 1 star and not buy it and listen to yo la tengo (is that right)instead.
The production on this track is incredible.
What an interesting song. Has a neat ambience to it. Love the all the little key board and synth sounds with the cool bass lines and chill beat
You mean the album, not just the track ;-)
Couldn't agree more, this whole album was a masterpiece.
yea & like all their shit so ahead of its time & inventive -tho i cant help notice, just now, that most their songs are like Serial Killer
I always thought that mikes voice is kinda drowned out by the music.
I wiwh it would be a bit louder and clearer.
Still sounds fresh in 2023🖤❤🖤❤
It's hard to believe this song is 27 years old. Hearing it can make one realize just how fast time passes you by when you aren't looking, if you are old AF like myself. The album the dropped right at the beginning of the summer 1989 is when I really got into them. You probably don't give a flying fuq, so I'll shut up now. 🤣🤣🤣
This song. Patton’s multi tonalities.
The chord choices. The brutal in your face drum mix. The bass syncopation and key pads.
And this video to go with it. It’s one of the most gorgeous things ever created in the history of things that have been made.
I love how you put your comment, it's like poetry.
Agree, it's a perfect work of art.
Yes, it's a beautiful masterpiece🤘🤘🤘🤘
And how can it be so sexy at the same time???
Absolutely!!Amen

Time has seemed to have accelerated - the nineties, seemed to have started so normally, blink, I finished High School, blink again it was the year 2000 - Sydney Olympics. Blink again, I'm a Dad. Blink again I have two teenage girls and am building Lego listening to this awesome song.
Sometimes it makes me cry, that I didn't just stop and soak in those years. All in the pursuit of an education, job, money. I feel like I have somewhat wasted those years - just to go back to the mid nineties as a young man and enjoy myself a little bit more. I suppose they call it melancholy.
Bill Gould's bassline again. Incredible.

ok let's get one thing straight. Just because so many musicians these days freakin auto-tune their shit up the fucking wazzoo, doesn't mean everyone does.
