In baseball, having a star being out doesn't affect the team as it does in other sports. When healthy, Riley is a 5 WAR player. Him being out for 2 months only costs the team about 1-2 wins, at least in theory.
I think Riley being out the Braves can still make the playoffs. Our next closest team is the Mets who have something like 29 of the 39 remaining games they have against .500 or better teams. Atlanta has something like only 17 remaining games against .500 or better teams. The schedule advantage is ours. If Riley is out it just changes our line up with more small ball played from the lower end of line up. We have kelenic; Merrifield and probably Williams who can all run. We do so more base stealing runs in motion. Think we over look how much Acuna running resulted in the rest of the line up getting better pitches to hit as they wanted catcher better chance throwing him out. This could be a fun team to watch
If Riley is out pressure is off. No more real expectations for this team. Just play loose and hope for the best. Take it as far as you can with what you have
@@canesrule96 the sad part is that Ozuna and Sale are both in the hunt for the triple crown and those seasons will basically mean nothing for the team.

It's a grind call up Nacho and just got to play your guys and fight it out. We will get Ozzie back in a couple of weeks and we just have to keep fighting.
Think about this; this season we have never had the offense. We have never had the slug feast team that could turn a game around like we did in 2023. This season is about our pitching. Even this last road trip our pitching was what was working our offense other than a couple games was kept in check. Even prior to whatever is determined with Riley wrist in our games we weren’t thinking we will out slug the Phillies; the Mets etc. we were thinking we would out pitch them. Which is why I don’t think the injury is as huge as it could be. If we have Soler; Ozuna and Olson we still have 3 big sluggers that can drive runs in. Olson is showing signs of going out of his slump. Yesterday he was going to left field only because of 2 great plays did he not have more hits. I am almost certain we get a playoff spot and with all the injuries that is a major win in itself. Than the playoffs be nothing lost if knocked out first round or last time standing as it was such a horrible injury year.
The nice thing about this month is the Braves are actually hitting once again. Their 116 wRC+ is the best team offensive production out of any month, including the 114 wRC+ in April. So things are looking up on the offensive side of things. Also you about have to play Laureano anywhere at this point. He's been hitting with the Braves since they picked him up, they made slight adjustments to his swing that have him hitting the ball harder than ever at 90.6 mph, which is better than his 2018 and 2019 season's. His 163 wRC+ with Gwinnett, 138 wRC+ with the Braves, along with his .390 and .385 xwOBA's between Gwinnett and Atlanta have shown well as well.
@@benjaminwalters7800 But a 116 wRC+ is still very good, the Yankees are the most productive team producing a 118 wRC+ this year, Baltimore is 2nd at 117, and no other team is producing above a 114 wRC+ on the year, just to put that production into prospective.

An 800 OPS and climbing. Don't be daft
Yeah you crazy. He’s been hitting and he makes like one crazy defensive play a day
Except he's been hitting for the past 2 months, hitting .292/.354/.588 with a 156 wRC+ since June 14th
