    A new product by Akai with a collaboration with Roger Linn and a push for MPE with his Linnstrument controller. Essentially a new MPC but with Linnstrument MPE pads/surface. Thus giving the player more expression than standard drum machine pads.

    People overestimate how much people in the league of Madlib make, sad situation for him.

    That Handytraxx is so well designed to accommodate for the scratching needs of all of those people (qbert included) that scratch with the right hand and cut with the left... /s
    When I first saw this thing a year ago I thought they would figure something out, but they really didn’t...

    it’s a new Flagship, not another live or any of the smaller MPC’s. They will eventually come later but They are releasing a new flagship that goes with the new mpc 3.0. None of the current mpc’s work with the new 3.0 the way it’s supposed to, they are still buggy. They are fixing that with a new flagship machine that’s made for all the new updates.

    Chopsquaddj posted a video that people have screengrabbed, showing what appears to be a Native Instruments play series instrument (Cloud Supply) on the screen of an MPC Key 37. Seems like there could be a collab if it's genuine.

    I'm curious to see what Akai brings out, but I highly doubt it'll be anything "game changing" on a significant level. I'm not sure who they're marketing to at this point. Adding synths and plugins felt like they were gearing towards more synth and electronic styles, but the workflow and UI, even with MPC 3 Beta, is still a not quite there for some things, especially with deeper synth modulation. I've mostly been making beats with a similar style to yours for a long time, synth heavy West Coast style, but I've been exploring more experimental electronic stuff so I'm in a weird place and I'm not sure if MPC fits in that workflow quite yet. Definitely curious, but I feel like Akai has been reinventing the wheel for the last few years, announcing "HUGE UPDATES" that amount to paint jobs and 4gb of ram haha.
    P.s. Also, if they don't address the loss of odd time signatures for sequences in MPC 3, which existed in MPC 2 firmware, then that's a huge fail, in my opinion. Can't really call it a full scale standalone music production center if it can't even do anything besides 4/4 time.

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  12 днів тому +1

      Idk if an MPC is the best tool for experimental electronic stuff, although you can certainly do that. It's still too complex for me though, so if they release some thing simpler and more intuitive, I will probably get one to try it out.

    • @remyvegamedia
      @remyvegamedia 12 днів тому

      @@LowHeatBeats Yeah you can do it to an extent, but everything in general on MPC is still overly cumbersome for a lot of things. It's cool, I still like using it, but Akai hasn't delivered on "GAME CHANGING UPDATES!!!!" for a while haha.

    Cool that TE did this, but they just went way to far for me to ever consider them again. It wasn't about the strike, it's about the fact that they even came up with the dumb idea and then went through with it. Can't support a company that thinks and behaves that way.

    Product specialist Andy Mac's opening for Akai at NAMM definitely means a new product announcement. My bet is a smaller, more intuitive version of the MPC and basically a direct competition with the Move. It will likely beat the Move in sampling capabilities and offer more channels but it won't be as intuitive (because let's face it, you can't beat the Move on this aspect) and offer less memory. The latter remark comes from an audio engineer who got to play a bit with the new machine.

    If Behringer takes three to four years to come out with their SP 1200 clone kiss the expected sales of it goodbye. Never advertise years in advance because doing so only causes consumers anxiety and disappointments.

    • @LowHeatBeats

      For any other company, that's generally true. But they've been doing this for years and it doesn't seem to affect the success of their products. It's free publicity for them and gets people talking about them, even if the product is years away from being ready.
