I was in a similar situation as you. Here are some tips: for mobility I used the shrimpy truffle for infinite flight and the rod of discord if you have it, otherwise it helps to fall damage yourself to near death to ensure you always have the truffle boosted. for farming lacewings what I have found is easiest is to flatten an area in the hallow and place a water candle on the surface before flying up to being just able to see the surface with binoculars. With this method I was able to get about 5-8 lacewings per night which helped with grinding significantly. For dealing with the issue of summon agroe in the second phase the sanguine bats ai is much more reliable than most other summons while still dealing considerable damage. I would also recommend avoiding the use of a whip in the fight as they force you into too close range and I found it much easier and safer to simply use a ranger weapon such as the chaingun using chlorophyte bullets to supplement your summons damage while avoiding having to put yourself in danger to attack. As for armour it is a choice between spooky and hallowed, where hallowed will increase your margin for error and spooky increases your damage output and allows you to end the fight faster. As for accessories the master ninja gear is helpful but optional with its dodge chance and the boosted shrimpy truffle makes movement accessories unnecessary and the nature of the fight procludes defence it is best to simply maximise damage over all else the celestial accessories are excellent for this as well as the summon accessories from the pumpkin moon while ensuring all reforges are for increased damage. Hope at least some of this helps. :)
The fight is absolutely not balanced for more than 1 individual if you're playing on masters with classes. (Especially if trying to get the Terraprisma). She goes all around the place way too much and her abilities reach the entirety of your screen , your allies WILL run into her attacks simply because the person who she is focusing is the only one who will be able to read them properly. Also if you are the group summoner, you are more or less the second person who has to take charge in kiting because your summons won't be able to do anything without you kiting her around. Definitely agree with Tungsten, give Calamity's summoner a spin. You will love it. Not only are there more summons, a lot of which you get from NORMAL BOSS PROGRESSION (fuck relogic for not giving summoner drops from bosses after saying "we'll give summoner some love"), but they're also strong and fun to use. Summons in general kinda suffer the aggro issue. Sure you can crank up the aggro range massively like stuff in Calamity does but then you have a tough time keeping focus on the target anyway if the summon is slow and relies on melee (like Ravens), especially if the foe has the ability to lose the focus ring during it's moves.
@@CrabBar One of the things that i thought would be interesting is if the whips would increase the aggro range so it locks onto whatever you are slapping, I feel like that would help but just as op said it doesn't do much

I feel that intro deep in my soul. it took me over 3 hours to do as pure summoner. I did it with the witch's broom and stacked as much summon damage as possible with xeno staff and spooky armor.
I still haven't managed to get any of my friends together for long enough for us to get to Hardmode, and I've been too busy to get to Hardmode Solo, but man, this fight looks so much fun. Unironically. I love bullet hells.
2 of my friends and i spent 80 hours before we got to hard mode, most of it was preparing our accessories and blocking off corruption and such One of us is new to the game so we did a lot of fishing while he learned
Just a recommendation to anyone trying this: get Xeno Staff. Xeno, Blade, Sanguine and Terraprisma all will attack anything that shows up on screen in line of sight, and of those 4 Xeno is the best you can get at this point in the game. Like CrabBar said, Raven is not fast enough and does not stay on the boss enough for this
Also consider getting Witch's Broom/Cosmic Car Key instead of an arena, and replacing all of your mobility accessories with offensive ones. I ran Pygmy Necklace, Summoner Emblem, Papyrus Scarab, Power Glove (for autoswing), Hercules Beetle, Avenger Emblem and Necromantic Scroll for the most DPS, all Menacing, and then went with the Witch's Broom I got while fighting Pumpkin Moon. This with Spooky armor and a summoner potion, I was able to have 10 Xenos at 106 damage each, and dark harvest with 252 damage. Add on a wrath potion, and some good food, and you can even kill her before she finishes her attack pattern in phase 2. If you can get your hands on Betsy's Wrath that will increase DPS tremendously as she has 50 defence. If you don't have one then Golden Shower will suffice but Betsy's Wrath is obviously preferable
@@rezyrektion6467 witch broom is really good, I used hallowed armor, ruthless sanguine staff, legendary kaleidoscope wich had like 450+ damage + ichor and focused damage increase accesorys, i didnt use the pygmin staff and remplace it for one of the old ones army accesory that increases minion damage by 10%, the only not damage focused accesorys were ninja gear and ankh shield, once she entered second phase I only had to survive 1 attack pattern before she died

Tbh when I was grinding for Terraprisma doing a sumnoner playthrough I beat nighttime Empress first for the Insignia. Made the fight infinitely easier.
I did this in my Master Mode Summoner Run with Sanguine staff, took me over 200 tries over 5 days. Not all of them were daytime however, since I was doing fights 24/7 with 2 sets for both Daytime and Nighttime empress. Ended up beating her 2 twice with the nighttime sets for Kaleidoscope and Empress Wings and a 3rd time with the Daytime sets for daytime practice during night. Then it took me a few more days to complete the full fight. Def worth it, 10/10 experience.
spent hours trying to get this weapon as summoner. Had to resort to hallowed armor set bonus with the brain of confusion to have high dodge chance. Edit: was on master mode btw
Feel you bro, it was nearly impossible without hallowed armor lmao, but really after you get used to the pattern the only attack that may kill you is the tracking swords then everlasting rainbow then prismatic bolts and sun dance killing you, once you survive that you will kill her before she repeats it
@@DanielFerreira-ez8qd You can actually play summoner class-locked, even on master mode (like I'm doing right now). I managed to get the terraprisma (without dodge, because I was too lazy to get dodge) and am headed for moon lord in the coming days. I have also gotten close to rivaling other classes in DPS (although still behind unfortunately). If you can get through the suffering then it's very rewarding. I feel that with some more love from the devs the summoner class can actually be fun to play even with all of the issues it's got, such as aggro.
@@shirubaurufu You make it sound like playing True-Summoner in master mode isn't a huge handicap (or deal). I think it is. You also mentioned that if you can get through the suffering, MM True-Summoner is "very rewarding". If your definition of "rewarding" is, killing hundreds of slimes with a weak ass bird summon for a slightly less weak ass summon that still does less damage than someone trowhing shurikens which are like in every 3rd Chest, then yes, I guess you could call it rewarding. I take True-Playthroughs very serious, especially now, with 1.4 + MM being out. Just know, that its not really considerable "class-locked", if you've/you ever used/use a weapon from a different class. -Sincerely N.D.
The limited summon aggro range is the reason I got my terraprisma using ranged weapons instead of my whip with my summons (also to ease things of even further I went to get it after defeating the moon lord) You made an impressive performance well done ! :)
If you think it makes sense that the daytime fight drops the summoner drop as the fight would be easiest as a summoner.. while the summons do the damage you can focus on dodging attacks.. while as other classes you have to focus on attack aswell which distracts you from the bosses attacks
I would have agreed with that reasoning, if not for the virtue of other classes being able to hit her from way further distance, which allows to entirely avoid several patterns
You can make this battle actually fairly easy believe it or not. First you will need to obtain the sanguine staff from the dread nautilus mini-boss. You can summon it by fishing during a blood moon. To build your arena for the EOL during daytime is honestly very easy. Build a huge asphalt runway (Asphalt is made from two stone blocks and one gel at the blend-o-matic sold by the steampunker npc). Don’t bother about health buffs or buff granting items like campfires because they won’t be needed, as death is imminent from any attack, as you know. You can dodge all of the EOL’s attacks but ONE by simply running at full speed on the runway and not even jumping. One of her attacks (in her second form) will require you to jump slightly as a sword beam will be heading straight for you. When she uses the attack when she bursts with light and stops moving, go underneath her and run the other way on your asphalt runway. Doing what this guy is doing requires a lot of skill (which he clearly has) at dodging every single attack and knowing her attacks by heart. ^^This method will probably not work first try but I believe it makes the fight a lot easier. Hope I helped. Edit: Sanguine staff is not needed but it’s very good in this fight. Also, you may need hermes/lightning boots to allow you to dodge all attacks but I’m not sure and I don’t think so. You will most likely have them anyway at the point in the game you’re at.

Watching summons literally fly RIGHT BY THE BOSS MAKES ME SO FREAKING MAD "Oh am I supposed to be useful and attack things to not draw out this fight? TOO BAD" I keep trying to make summoner playthroughs and I HATE IT. But I want to love it, because I hypothetically love the class if it worked. So I keep trying, and making myself miserable lol. But seriously, summoners should have had access to a class of magic ranged weapons to use. I keep adding ranger or magic weapons to my summoner loadouts bc fk whips, then just end up ditching my summoner armor entirely for other bonuses since those weapons are more effective :( Patch got me excited, then crushed my joy
my problem is that summoner still has the lowest defence while the whips have the lowest range. also: i really do wish theyd make every summon able to attack anything on screen except when they dont have a clear shot and thats not part of their kit.
Did they remove the thing where you can mark enemies by right clicking with summon weapons? Also, give the Calamity mod a shot
Vanilla summoner still sucks and it is so sad
@@SenatorDodo09 try out valhalla armor, really good summoner set surprisingly. Even has more defense than void armor.
Can be made to an effective sentry + normal summon build
@@slh8505 No you can still do that, actually just learned that was a thing today when I accidentally right clicked with my stardust dragon staff and realized "wait why was there an animation for that, does right clicking actually do something?"
I think that although empress of light fight normally opens up pre-golem, the day fight feels like it's post golem in the same sense as how duke fishron is post plantera even if he is available from the start of hardmode.
What I did was use the ufo summons
Very true, there are also a ton of post golem items that are very nice for the empress fight, and if you can beat plantera, you can usually easily beat golem

I've probabaly watched this video too many times... The part where you make moonlight sync with her attacks at the beginning of 2nd phase is genuinely the most satisfying shit ever. Iconoclasts is such an underrated game
Definitely. Summoner AI is real hard to keep in balance with wonky mechanics
@@CrabBar One of the things that i thought would be interesting is if the whips would increase the aggro range so it locks onto whatever you are slapping, I feel like that would help but just as op said it doesn't do much
@@quack3891 But I remember you can make your summons target an enemy by right clicking the enemy while holding your summon weapon isn't that true?
Panos Giannoulis you can, but they just won’t go to it if the enemy is offscreen. They’ll be like: “Oh frick... where’d the weird creature go?” The only summons that attack even if the enemy is offscreen are stationary summons.

2 of my friends and i spent 80 hours before we got to hard mode, most of it was preparing our accessories and blocking off corruption and such
One of us is new to the game so we did a lot of fishing while he learned

3:33 Are we gonna talk about how well the whips sync with the music

Feel you bro, it was nearly impossible without hallowed armor lmao, but really after you get used to the pattern the only attack that may kill you is the tracking swords then everlasting rainbow then prismatic bolts and sun dance killing you, once you survive that you will kill her before she repeats it
Pro tip for casuals like me: dont go full summoner and switch to a ranged weapon om phase 2
It's kind pf bad design that you can't play summoner class-locked without getting absolutely destroyed though
@@DanielFerreira-ez8qd it really is. Specially because whips are short range, yet summoners have low defense.
@@shirubaurufu
You make it sound like playing True-Summoner in master mode isn't a huge handicap (or deal).
@@shirubaurufu Gratifying? Maybe. Rewarding? No.

The limited summon aggro range is the reason I got my terraprisma using ranged weapons instead of my whip with my summons (also to ease things of even further I went to get it after defeating the moon lord) You made an impressive performance well done ! :)
The Empress of light said: *Nobody can deflect my 14 inch emerald Splash!*
