I’m not a skater, I don’t know anything about skating, and I don’t know anything about dance or interpretative dance, but this was really beautiful and it made me cry.
How this woman didn’t win in 2014 is one of the travesties of skating and rang the death knell of the sport for me. I just could not take it seriously from that point on. The artistry of Oksana Baiul with superb jumping technique. Pure genius.
It could't have been better.... best performance.... Yuna is not only goot at jumps also goot at Interpretation, choreography, performance, presentation.
I don't even have to explain how great this performance is, I almost worship it, and the interview at the end makes me respect her even more. As the commentator says, what a gentle soul. She's a perfect role model not only as an athlete, but also as a human being.
When I look at her jumps..:it’s just incredible. They don’t look strange or off or like they’ve been landed heavily at all. I hate to say it, but a lot of the Russian skaters jumps seem off (of course not all!) and I can see why when I compare it to Yuna’s. Her technique was extraordinary and I now look at her jumps as guidance with my own skating.
Yes I still can’t believe that Snotnikova won gold. She’s not even an E list skater, and her point were severely blown up and the judges also didn’t deduct points when Sotnikova under-rotates, lands on two feet, edge fouls etc. In my opinion Yuna Kim should have won that gold. Notice how Sotnikova has never won any major titles, apart from that one gold medal at the olympics
@@voltysaysno5355 Sotnikova's best finish in Worlds (the second highest competition after the Olympics) was 9th less than a year before the Olympics. Her best finish at the Grand Prix Final (third highest competition) was 5th only a few months before Sochi. She not only hasn't won any major international title (invitation only to all top skaters), but she hasn't come close to medaling, while Yuna Kim has NEVER finished worse than 3rd in ANY competition she's entered and won gold in over half of ALL of them. Sotnikova can't score high in a neutral location it seems. Sotnikova received less penalties and far more bonuses than Mao Asada who actually skated a "clean" free skate and is also far superior to her technically and artistically...
I'm completely new to FS. Only time I heard about FS was from Tonya Harding's triple axel. Watched this for the first time and didn't think it was that special until I continued watching performances of other skaters and wow, Yuna is really on another level. I'm addicted to her now and have already watched this performance like 20 times today 😍it's sad also that she's retired and now FS is just dominated by Russians and the corrupted judging panel
At this competition Yuna just performed her duty. No skating from the heart. No joy to herself. But joy to those who appreciate a polished performance.
Does she has nervous breakdown sometimes? Coz she does so much better here than the Olympics. Might have been under different pressure. She looks having more weight here too, which contributes to her appearing with more power in the performance
Even if the judges made you think that she didn't do so well in Sochi the truth is that she was fenomenal in both competitions (just watch send in the clowns for example) but all the atmosphere in Russia was so horrible that I have much more respect for Yuna to be able to be so great there, even if the judges stole her gold medal.
Racist commentary to refer to Asian excellence a "machinery". That's reducing the emotional impactfulness in Asian artists. :/ She performed very well technically but she was also incredibly in tune with her song choice. The choreography and her facial expressions gave us a very emotional experience! Yuna deserves more praise for this beautiful performance!
@Sally Vee Sally, I'm from the west. I am quite familiar with western terminologies. Asians are more often ascribed to be like machines than other ethnicities in a way that hurts Asians. It is often accompanied with the implication that Asians do nothing but study/practice and have no personality or emotion. This is especially harmful to Asian artists. Asian contestants who are ascribed as "machines" are often complimented for their precision/skill/ability but they are often criticized or lose the contest because they lacked "heart". In a journal on Asian Americans in Reality TV shows, another contest says that fellow contestant "'Hung is the best technical cook. But in my world, the best food has heart and when you don’t have one it doesn’t taste good.' This sentiment seemed to be shared by the judges, who complimented Hung for his technique but praised other contestants for dishes that 'sang' and had 'soul.' How does one see, taste, or hear passion, much less soul?" You can read the whole article here: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1527476410363482 Asian students and workers are also hurt as a result of being labeled as "machines" due to their academic excellence and lack of cultural capital (specifically dominant white culture). Vox journalist writes "Asians in America have long been stereotyped as undistinguishable robotic automatons...stories of being denied promotions because they didn’t have 'leadership skills,' which was really just code for 'doesn’t play golf' and 'isn’t one of the boys.' In short, 'leadership' as defined by the values and outlook of the majority culture." You can read the whole article here: www.vox.com/first-person/2018/10/18/17995270/asian-americans-affirmative-action-harvard-admissions-lawsuit I hope this helped you understand why calling an Asian person a machine is racist, even if it was said with no ill intentions. The term carries a negative connotation for Asians. It is entirely possible to compliment one's ability and skill without dehumanizing them into a machinery.
her jumps just float ...so effortless and graceful
Yes, her jumps're so amazing!
I’m not a skater, I don’t know anything about skating, and I don’t know anything about dance or interpretative dance, but this was really beautiful and it made me cry.
She is a legend in this sport and that is one of the most spectacular yet sensetive performances of all time. It takes your breath away.
Every landings of her jump is deep knee bend and flow that is one of the best skating skills part
How this woman didn’t win in 2014 is one of the travesties of skating and rang the death knell of the sport for me. I just could not take it seriously from that point on. The artistry of Oksana Baiul with superb jumping technique. Pure genius.
One of the most great moments in the entire figure skating history!
Yuna still the Ice Queen, nobody replace you yet til now 2019😘... you’re Amazing!!!
The man screaming "I love you" in the interview is every fan in the world😁
Incredible. She makes the sport look absolutely effortless. This performance brought tears to my eyes!
There will never be another skater like her. Such beautiful, effortless jumps and artistry.
It could't have been better.... best performance.... Yuna is not only goot at jumps also goot at Interpretation, choreography, performance, presentation.
I almost cried ,that was so beautiful ..the emotion she portrayed and how the music and her combine its so...magnificent
She was born to grace the ice. She looks so comfortable on the ice . I almost cried
12th April 2019... still in awe when watching this.. incomparable Queen Yuna 😍😍😍
That was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
Phenomenal is definitely an understatement for this legend .
i’m a giant musical fan, and just seeing les miserables and yuna kim is just wow
I don't even have to explain how great this performance is, I almost worship it, and the interview at the end makes me respect her even more. As the commentator says, what a gentle soul. She's a perfect role model not only as an athlete, but also as a human being.
it's exactly what i want to say.
absolutely aggree with you!!
Yuna kim is forever no.1 love u Yuna 💕☺
All her programs are phenomenal~I could memorize her all choreographs with the music. Still miss her
I think she is the most beautiful skater in the world♡♡
She’s amazing!!!!! I always loved her grace and poise on the ice and she is just an inspiration to many ❤️
We can say this is the epic performance... Unforgettable... The most sensation unmistakable technique in figureskate all times
When I look at her jumps..:it’s just incredible. They don’t look strange or off or like they’ve been landed heavily at all. the legend of figure skating. no one else is as gracious, as technical and as artistic in figure skating history and the present.
Mount Collector Michelle kwan may have something to say..
After the Olympics in s korea. Have got to watch this again to heal... thanks queen.
I can't imagine skating a program like that and then having to speak a foreign language while out of breath! She's amazing.
oh my god... everytime i watch this clip, i cry 😭 so emotional and artistic!
Yuna Kim, you have my respect.
Yuna is not skating. She’s flying! Unforgettable queen of ice! ❤️
I'm still salty this wasn't a world record, almost as mad as I am about her being robbed in Sochi.
They revised the GOE system after the 2010 olympics, so she got less technical points here...
OMG so beautiful
Yuna is queen of the world!!
Yuna Queen Forever!!!
THE QUEEN.
I'm korean. I'm so proud of her and she's olympic champion and our hero!♥
2024.. still here..
Omy God.. How I miss the queen.
The speed across the ice !!!
when the on my own instrumentals started oh my god her interpretation was GORGEOUS
Beautiful ❤️
After watching yuna I thought triples were easy but after i tried it’s sooooo hard
Beautiful
this is definitely, in my opinion, yu na kim's best skate.
Thank you QUEEN YUNA
My goodness! 👍🏻👍🏻

Magnífico
gentle soul
Soooo Graceful!!!😍
Excelente💖🎉👏marabilloso...😘
I did a play to les Mis and she portrayed it very nicely.
She is amazing, holding my breath but she is faultless!-
when you are so phenomenal that you can't relate to the word GREAT
Can't believe this program got the lower score than StupidSotnikova. I don't want to watch figure skating anymore since Sochi.
God !!! you still can't accept defeat with dignity?
Yes I still can’t believe that Snotnikova won gold. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wowww sugoi!!
“Little Korean skaters” 😂🤣😂kinda awkward but cute 9:00

why does that just rub me the wrong way :P
Um espetaculo!!
At this competition Yuna just performed her duty. No skating from the heart. No joy to herself. But joy to those who appreciate a polished performance.
lol so cute
Far better than sochikova
SOTNIKOVA.
I don't deny that Yu-na for the flexibility of movements better than Sotnikova, but Sotnikova's program was much harder.
@@sh_-qg3qs harder😅 She came in 9th place in this competition, but how can she come in 1st place in the sochi Olympics? That's so funny
Does she has nervous breakdown sometimes? Coz she does so much better here than the Olympics. Might have been under different pressure. She looks having more weight here too, which contributes to her appearing with more power in the performance
Well, I doubt the nationalistic hollering made her feel welcome in Sochi. It's admirable she skated as well as she did in the Olympics.
