I've actually done that as an employee lol. A client asked about an order he placed like 3 weeks before and which was supposed to arrive in 5 weeks, that is when I discovered my assistant forgot to place the order. We put it for Express delivery and lied, a lot.

After the third time or so, my mother asked him "are you 'in transit' in your car, or 'in transit' from your bedroom to the kitchen?" after an awkward pause, I heard her say "don't bother coming in today" and that was that.
So yeah, hearing that word again, _especially_ being used in _this_ context, brought that memory back.

The fact that one of the power rails failed from being, what I can only assume was UNDER the m2 card is absurdly bad. I would be trashing that company just for that mistake.

When she first said Skytech I was like "didn't GN just do a video on their shitty prebuilt?" I've never built a computer in my life and I don't really trust myself, but when I finally do get a nice computer, I'm building it myself anyway. Fuck these incompetent companies.
Yup, even if prebuilt is done by a good reputable company, the people that does the shipping is another mess. At least if you order components they'll be harder to destroy from mishandling.

The hardest part of building a computer is picking out the components. You need to have a really good idea of what you want your computer to do and buy the parts that will support that. Putting everything together is the easy part. Gamer's Nexus and JayzTwoCents have videos on DIY computers. Read the manuals and give yourself a couple of days to piece it together.
Building a pc is like 95% "what parts do I buy" and like 5% "plug the square plug into the square hole"

I ran into similar issues with a company called CyberPower, had used them for my first pc, so thought it'd be just as good for the second. It took forever to ship, when I finally got it, it literally wouldn't work; even with all my troubleshooting. Sent it back, but took even longer to have it returned (the whole fiasco happened over 3 months), but the graphics card was pretty much shot and they refused to send me a new one without getting the one I had first. So I opted to send the whole pc back and build my own instead, which they then had the gall to charge me for return shipping. Absolute mess, these companies don't care about you after getting your money, it's far cheaper to source the parts to build it yourself, plus you learn how to maintain your own computer in the process.

@@tumamaencosplay They must have used the cheapest part they could get because my 30 series gpu won't start without all three power connections and turns on a bright red light on the one not plugged in if you try.
One power connector and the motherboard together are rated to feed it about 225w though.
@@ffwast I got a Palit 3070, suposedly rated for 220watts per hour average, it uses 2 8-pin connectors.
So it MAYBE could work with a single one, not even gonna try tho lmao.
No idea how a 3080 even ran with a single connector with its 370w TDP. maybe it somehow ran in a pseudo undervolted state???
@@tumamaencosplay if it was automatically limited to the actual power rating I imagine it would have been fine, it sounds like it actually burned a bunch of stuff out pulling all the power through one connector.

Seeing stories like this and artesian builds and others are why I decided to jyst learn how to put my first gaming pc together myself instead of getting a pre-built. At least if something goes wrong it will be because I screwed up myself.
I didn't have to do any internet research or anything the manual with the motherboard told me everything I needed to do, but with pictures so I didn't even have to read anything.
This is why you should build your own computer. Its like putting together LEGOS these days.
So long as you are dealing with brick and mortar stores. If you are buying any parts online they won't leave any stone unturned when it comes to fucking up.
@@alouiciouswrex7141Really? I bought all my parts online and my system has been running just fine. Did it all through Amazon, which may have helped, but I highly doubt it made a major impact. Nothing was damaged in shipping, nor was anything different than what I ordered.
It was much easier 15+ years ago than it is now. It's the exact same set of components and plugs, but now they're all twice the size and there's less room to work.

I own an IT shop and if someone built a pc and shipped it out with that list of issues, I would not only fire them. I would take pictures of the build and the list of issues and make sure that anyone who reached out to me for a work history would get all of that.

As someone who works in IT, yeah, this stuff occasionally happens. My company works with others for hardware acquisition and we've had problems with them before to the point where we've swapped several times because of the same type of things that happened with Skytech there. As for building, this is why I prefer building my own stuff even if I'm not the most experienced or have the cleanest cable management and so on. At least I know the condition of all the parts before they go in.

I previously bought a gaming PC from a company that has excellent reviews. After hearing horror stories like this (and playing PC Building Simulator for hours) I’m just going to cannibalise parts from my current PC and use them for a future build.

I worked at a computer building company for ONE DAY because it was actually sweat shop work and that was in the US. Skynet gaming or whatever definitely sounds Chinese idk how she even got herself in that situation

I feel this to some extent because I got a Skytech for the same reasons (why buy a GPU for the price of a PC when I can buy a whole PC) but when I later decided to add more memory via an extra SSD and HDD I had a buddy who has an IT degree and has built a few PCs help me out and the internals were such a mess a 5 minute job took us almost an hour and a half.
With Pippa clips... there is a lot to unpack.

Asking for a deposit to replace faulting equipment is sketchy af. Never do that. You can send back the broken equipment but never give them more money if they don’t make it right.
Good thing I dodged a bullet on prebuilt PCs and just do my own thing back when I was in high school. Now I’m planning to resolve the wiring issue with ordering better and lengthy ones with style to make it clean at last
