Indeed has lots of entry level positions available, make sure you search entry level, if you’re looking for remote. Maybe put resumes in at some hospitals if you’re looking for in person work. Create a resume and that may help you stand out with jobs also. Best of luck!
@@jenball2560 thanks. I've had a few interviews but have had to turn some down since the pay is between 10-13$ less than what I'm currently making. I had an interview with a major hospital in NY but a unionized employee got it so lost out 😔
I took my exam online because I am over an hour away from a site. My instructions said I could have a water bottle on my desk but the lady who proctored me said because it wasn't a clear bottle it was solid blue, I couldn't have it (that was not specified in my instructions, so this was frustrating). Also, my instructions still had that you could have a white board, but my proctor also said I could not have it so hopefully that gets updated. There is a notepad and highlighter on the online version, I just personally found it took too much time for me to use so I didn't. Other than that, I liked being able to take my exam online from the comfort of my home!
Are you allowed to bring blank paper to the in-person CPC exam? I've found it helpful when doing the practice tests to have a scratch pad nearby to work out problems. Thanks!
So to take the CPC exam you have to be a member of the AAPC? Or are there other places to take the CPC exam that are credentialed and don't require a membership?

Hi Victoria. I know this is a bit off topic. But do you know anything about Regence (Cambia) ? I am working on CPC cert through Preppy. The job interview opportunity I have is for customer service. Remote. Just wondering if you thought this coud be a good stepping stone?
The books are all given as eBooks through the Bookshelf app and they will also offer you the opportunity to purchase paper copies for the certification exams if you like.
Hi Victoria, I am currently studying to become a medical coder. Please tell me that there is a medical coding software program that coders use? I sure hope I wouldn’t have to use these thick headache books for my career?!? Please could you explain…
Ok so I'm sure you have had this question a ton....I've been researching on and off for 3 years and yes different UA-cam creates say different. Which is better just watched AHIMA vs AAPC. Yes depends but both have about the same help
Hello, so only my HCSPCS book is a 2021. I didn’t think this would be a problem because the website didn’t specifically say that an older book is prohibited…
I would direct you to the guidance provided by the AAPC: www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx " What year's books should I use? All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets." That means one calendar year prior is permitted, but you are welcome to contact the AAPC to confirm.
You can write in it, they will check to make sure you don't have sticky notes.. they will make you fan out every book.. also they don't let sandwiches on the table😑 so eat something before you take it
@@JustNel That’s a relief cause I’ve marked all in my book. I don’t have any sticky pages just things I’ve wrote that may be helpful. Thank you for the clarification!! I have two attempts (for a just incase) I just haven’t set for mine yet I’m trying to practice practice practice first!!
Thanks for reaching out. As you can imagine, I get many requests for job seeking advice so I’ve compiled all of my best tips in this UA-cam playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLPHIVqUe1ntwWk43D_3ULgmATJ-XZ5Q52.html I think you’ll find it very helpful. I am not currently offering individual assistance on job searching at this time and do not have any job leads to provide for you. Best of luck!
I'll direct you to the guideance from the AAPC directly, please contact them if you have specific concerns. "Handwritten notes are acceptable in the coding books only if they pertain to daily coding activities. Questions from the Study Guides, Practice Exams, or the Exam itself are prohibited. Tabs may be inserted, taped, pasted, glued, or stapled in the manuals so long as the obvious intent of the tab is to earmark a page with words or numbers, not supplement information in the book. Altering, whiting out, painting, or printing over any pages within the code books (e.g., marketing pages, table of contents, reference pages, etc.) to supplement information is prohibited. No materials (other than tab dividers) may be inserted, taped, pasted, glued, or stapled in the manuals." Ref: www.aapc.com/training/cpc-exam-faqs.aspx
It does not have to be spiral bound but it does need to be an actual copy of the book, not a version that has been printed out such as from a home printer or photocopier.

In regards to Preppy all the books are digital , so you would have to purchase these books separately?

@@ContempoCoding but it consumes more time than highlighting.
