  • Ilayaraja has challenged himself to create a folk song out of a very popular and beautiful Symphony no 25 from Mozart. I always thought what if Mozart get inspired by Ilayaraja's version and he create the symphony. This is just an amateur's try so kindly excuse me for lack of quality in the song!

    Thanks for showing different dimension of Raja sir... It was not just for the film... He had something in mind when he composed... One has to learn to love his music.. Perhaps another one in the form valluvar for tamilian.. Once he dominated the entire south Indian film industry... Those in bollywood feared that he could replace them.. So they did everything to stop him to come to bollywood.. They did same thing about kamal Hassan... But they allowed rahman for some other reasons known to every one...

      @@vimalpercyAnother Ilayaraja? Not in this lifetime. Neither the audience nor the composers of today care compositions with any level of creativity. All they care about is views and likes on UA-cam.
      I don't know if there's any active composer today who actually has a passion for composing and wants to stay true and dedicated to the art... except Ilayaraja himself.

      Because IR is Genius

    • @vimalpercy
      @vimalpercy  3 місяці тому +6

      Here is an explanation Inspiration and Copy!
      First listen to the song sound of Music. Then listen to Thannaam song. Then do a comparison. IR introduces the song with a soothing Mouth organ, peaceful, quiet. Then slowly introduces sense of happines with the rhythm and keep the continuity by having the mouth organ. This is not copied. Then the main song, yes it is copied. Then the bridge part. Close your eyes and listen and the music make you feel like you are floating in the sky. use of the interlinking vocals make you feel go higher and higher. Not copied. Then pallavi, not copied..he also change the rhythm. listen to the pallavi and IR takes you all the way where you would be wondering how he would close it. He does that so beautifully with a surprise twist with a sustained accidental note and elegantly closing that section. That is pure creative genious. Now take an example say Yuvan Shankar Raja's Kadhal Mattum Purivathillai song copied from "Raven" by the Swedish-Finnish folk band Hedningarna. Rhythm- fully copied. Melody- Fully copied, even he didnt leave the humming. This is what is called plagarism. you copy the whole song and you say I composed this song. So using the same word Copy for both cases is really unfair. IR has done more than 4000 songs. not even 1% of his song come close to calling outright copy. Rest i will leave it upto you!

    • @vimalpercy
      @vimalpercy  3 місяці тому +2

      Titan music watch AD uses the exact symphonic version to show the watch as a classic! IR has adapted the song differently but only uses the flow. The main technical aspect of the entire symphony orchestra is the rhythm. Every first note in the bar is accented. It starts from the opening phrase till the end. If you see the melody, Mozart is so playfull as he add a exta note in the beggining to slide it to the main note to give both an accent and some kind of texture. Listen to Veetukku Veetukku vasapadi vendum, every beggining V of the song is stressed by Raja Sir. If you dont stress it, it sounds not so good. Basically he only used that technique from this symphony. As always introduced so many additional elements to the song without doing cut copy paste!

      Being an Ilaiyaraja fan is alright. But this is a bit much!
      There is a universality to Mozart's music, while Raja's music is grounded in the cultural milieu.
      While his efforts (his Oratorio and all) have had a luke-warm reception elsewhere, no one other than we Indians think of him as an all-time great.
      He is definitely a genius, but his appeal doesn't have the universality or the timelessness of Mozart. It takes a grounding in the Indian - and that too a south Indian - milieu to be able to appreciate Raja.

    This is not inspiration. This requires extreme ingenuity to take something that exists, adapt it for a group with a different taste. And incorporating all the nativity to add that flavor.
