I am SO! with ya on that man... i hate to see a 1 of 1 card from modern/ today cards and it only has just the players initials of their first and last name. Or you get this little chicken scratch on the card that isn't even readable and you're like ( Who the heck signed this card!?!?). Players / athletes today need to have more pride and respect for putting their FULL signature on these cards.
Well, he seems to do very well with his Notre Dame education, and he seems to be a very well read Individual and I have always appreciated Adrian Dantley
@@SportCardMadness that's what I mean. I got some Dantlys n he's a legend but it's like some of these guys started sending stickers in on their own n asking for compensation after panini used them
This isn't new news. They pay these guys a lump sum and the guy sign thousands of stickers and use them for multiple years. But what bothers me is it's not witnessed. Who knows who is really signing half of these.
I pulled a not so popular football players card like a year ago. I swear it was his actual signature because it wasn't super perfect and it was readable. Unlike these 'professionally' done signatures where all you can read is the initials and the rest is scribbles. Tried to tag him on X but never got a response as to if he actually signed it or not. Hell I would have sold it back to him for like $10 if it was (was selling for like maybe $15 on eBay at the time). 🤣🤣
It's time for the industry to get more creative instead of sticker autos and non-associated patches. I recently picked up one of the Upper Deck "MJ's Final Floor" cards with a piece of the game floor he took his last shot as a Bull. I would love to see more innovation and creativity than watering -down and de-personalizing what's already popular.
Panini having a monopoly on producing licensed cards has stifled innovation and made them lazy. If you look back at the 90's when there were a bunch of companies producing cards at the same time, that's when autos, patches, die cuts, holograms, and all of that stuff began to appear.
Panini, Fanatics, Upper Deck, Topps, Leaf...etc...drop your prices and quit meeting demand with veteran base cards. Get creative and give 12 year olds a chance to afford retail. Don't let distributors buy their own product as soon as they snap a pic of the stocked shelves. Fix the industry so true collectors can actually collect. And don't let Dave and Adams kill retail stock in WNY.
I’ve been out of sports cards since like 04. To me, what I’ve seen, it’s actually disgusting. The insanely high prices along with low quality, makes me want nothing to do with them. The “game worn” lies, releasing cards with no licensing, players literally just signing their first and last initials. Hard pass.
@@MoneyHungryPicker so then prices on products gets higher. Most players don’t care about these card deals, and with the money they make they don’t need them. So unfortunately to get big names you need to be on their schedule now a days. I know everyone hates stickers but they’ll never fully go away, it isn’t possible.
@@RandomStuff0303 prices on products have tripled or in 3 years because idiots buy in breaks. Panini hasn’t given any of those profits to athletes to make them sign quicker.
@@MoneyHungryPicker why would they? The products are selling. And tbh most of the higher level players wouldn’t care about some extra cash. Most agree to autograph deals based on convenience unfortunately, neither the player or company cares about the person buying the product.
Cool insight but truth be told I hate sticker auto's I think they should only be put on cards if they are deceased if they are still living there should be no need for it - it's lazy & unprofessional.
We got an Ex-Beckett grader to open up about how to get better grades: ua-cam.com/video/Ku9w18NoMgc/v-deo.html
I like how Adrian takes his time signing the card so you can actually read the name. It's so rare nowadays.

Adrian Dantley is such a nice dude, he referees basketball games in the dmv where I live. It was so cool meeting a hall of famer.
Well, he seems to do very well with his Notre Dame education, and he seems to be a very well read Individual and I have always appreciated Adrian Dantley
Makes me appreciate my adrian autos more now! Thanks for this
We all appreciate your honesty!
Keep doing what you love. You are doing a great job and your videos are amazing!!!!!
Sticker auto really hurt the hobby. So respect him for signing it out instead of these new players that sign two initials… ❤❤❤
I saw one basketball player sign a straight, diagonal line. Like half of a check mark. Not surprised I can’t remember who it was. Pathetic.
Dantley could ball. Averaged 30 points per game 4 years in a row (80-81 - 83-84).
I asked him who he thought he was most like in the modern NBA and he said Carmelo Anthony if they shot threes back then.
You can tell how structured these hall famers are in their lives. Makes sense
I give him props! His autos still look great and a full name, no a scribble or a slash but a real auto.
Fascinating video. Some feedback: The first host to speak needs a muffle for his mic and/or to not be so close. The distortion is rough to listen to.
Thanks this was an oooooold ep and we had crappy Yeti mics 😂
Can't imagine the cost that goes into making a card
Everyone except Wembanyama, he's licensed to Topps.
Would really wonder what each guy makes in their panini contract.
@@theblackirishshaman9013 Same here! Has to be at least a few bucks a sticker right? Probably depends on the player a lot too.
