I remember being in California & driving from LA to Walnut/Chico California for an event at Mt. Sac College. First time driving out there and you need to be going at least 100 mph on highway and this song came on and it just fit so perfectly! Was amazing to see Courtney individual success, Joe Strummer and his family took her in for a bit when she was broke on Europe and then Curt. Glad to see you are back at it Murphy!
Guitar-wise there's more than average strumming on this song. There's a very beautiful arpeggio during the verses and a cool bluesy transition into the verse too, among other cool parts.
Auf Der Maur's song Followed the Waves is so damn good. She also has an instrumental called Lead Horse on that same album that has one of my favorite bass lines ever. She just nails the idea of playing a heavy riff on a higher octave first, which is heavy enough, and then playing it lower when the riff repeats to really dig it in. I love how she plays and yes, her stance is just imposing but sexy at the same time. Auf Der Maur rocks man.
Very nice ,Murph. We just added a female singer to split duty and we're discovering a whole new world of "chick songs" to play out. This one's a killer. Going to check out Malibu . Thanks for the lesson, brother.
Great song and a great video, thanks. Its such a fun line to play. I'm fairly new to the bass and your videos are such a help. I just love the growl on this. I play it with my Proco RAt.
It’s actually a direct signal that I record live. Bass > UAD Apollo Twin > Ampeg B15 > Logic > iLoud Seakers > then I put a Zoom H6 right in front of the speakers and record the bass sound coming out. (I’m playing back the song from Spotify from those same speakers too) So it’s actually not just a direct sound - it’s a direct sound that I record live coming from speakers. I don’t like only direct bass sounds. Even for making simple UA-cam videos. I like capturing the air around a sound. Even if the source originates from a direct sound… I NEED to mic it and record it live in the room. There’s something about getting all that “air” and “ambience” and “room sound” to a recording that just makes it sound so much better. In my opinion. Thanks 🙏🏻
If you can't play the song 25 Minutes by Michael Learns To Rock in year 1994. Could you play other MLTR songs in your bass guitar aside from 25 Minutes because they're still some MLTR songs that sounds so very romantic and rocking instead of their song 25 Minutes song?
@@MurphyKargesBass You're welcome my favorite bass player of all time but not actually maybe that's a coincidence that we're both a fan of MLTR and in their songs because MLTR is the most popular rock band in Asia and other parts in Europe and California. Shout you again Dude! I'm from Florida....
I'm going back and responding to every single comment I have had on this channel, and also looking for requests. Yours is the oldest one I have found so far.. So I'm putting "Malibu" at the top of the request pile. I friggin love that song. So thanks for your request. I do have one small request of YOU. Will you please go to my website at www.basswithmurf.com and on the homepage, there is a new "request" section.. will you go and officially send me an email through that request a song button? That was I get the emails in a organized way, and it's easier to keep track and keep them in the right order. If you do, I'm saying THANK YOU in advance. Appreciate your comment. -Murph
Mr. Murphy, when you gonna play my request rock song "25 Minutes" played by Michael Learns To Rock in 1994 in a bass guitar tutorial because I want to know how to play that romantic rock song in my bass guitar. What a good bass line does to an average guitar strumming.

Dude, may I ask you of what is your favorite Michael Learns To Rock song????
That’s funny
This song has a special meaning to me. A goddess of a woman that I’ve been attracted to for years, loves this song... so therefor, I love this song.
That's good enough for me
