What is the rear Excel rim from? I spoke to Excel America and they said they did not have a rear rim for the 250f. The front is the same as the 230. Did you have a part number for the rear? Thanks
So what I did was send the wheels to a shop that laced black Excel rims to the original CRF250F hubs with larger spokes in the back wheel (they are like push bike spokes) ! . I made the rear a 2.15-18 (they come with a 1.85 wide rim) so it’s the same width/rim as the bigger bikes. Improved traction heaps ! Front has original spokes with larger nipples for the Excel rim. They do use a few parts leftover from the 230F, rims, foot pegs etc. The rims fitted the bike fine with no issues on the back wheel with swing arm and pipe clearances.
So basically the rear rim is the same as if you were buying and mounting it on a 250/450R if that makes sense.
Hope this helps mate, good luck 👍
@@TeamBennyRides also from the Brisse area, what shop did you get the wheels laced at?
@@justin_yates
Hey Justin, it is Ash’s Spoked Wheelz in Capalaba, they did an awesome job, very professional, highly recommend them 👍
Give them a call mate,
Good luck
@@TeamBennyRides thanks mate. Best CRF250F build I've seen so far. Which shop did you get the bike from, want try track down that bash plate as well. MXStore etc don't have anything like that.

Thanks very much Justin !
Team Moto Virginia is we’re I got it from, they put it on the bike when I bought it new late last year, ask for Gary in the accessories department 👍
I just bought this bike 2 days ago. It's a fantastic bike and it will probably be my dirt bike for the next 20 years at least.
I still own a 2004 XR250R so absolutely mate !
Just bought this bike today
Did you but but the 250f or the R. I'm thinking of getting the 250f based on the price but not sure if I'll regret not spending an extra 3 grand on a 250R? Do you still like it?
I got this bike for the wife, but sometimes I gotta park the 450RX and brap around on this little tractor of a bike. Awesome trail trail bike
@@joeystout6939Do you trail ride or motocross or both ? Super low maintenance air cooled motor or high performance high maintenance water cooled motocross bike. All depends on what you’re after. These are great fun “TRAIL” bikes period 👌
What a stunner! Now that Honda brought the old XR250 back to life let’s see the 400 and 650.
Thanks very much, it’s really changed the look for sure ! We could only wish for the 400 & 650, you know Honda will never do it 😢
Yes we need a crf400f fuel injected 👍🏼
Great wheels! Love my Yoshimura exhaust. Best upgrade for this bike along with suspension. It really made the bike snapper and sounds like a real dirt bike. The low maintenance along with it being fun makes it a keeper for sure. Thanks for sharing. Happy trails!
Thanks mate, yeah the sound is impressive ! This will be that bike you pull out of the garage in 20 years time and go for a blast !
Future classic maybe ? ! Cheers
I rode a 2001 XR250R in my teens, and raced it a couple times. This bike brings back memories and looks extremely fun and low maintenance.
They are a lot of fun for sure !
(And I still own an 04 XR250R 👌)
Future video in the works 👍
I have a 2005 crf230. My favorite bike ever. Unkillable, most reliable thing I’ve ever had by far. Top end needs a rebuild. But still runs and idles like a top!
Awesome ! Hopefully this will be the next reliable go forever bike ! Had a 230 as well, you would love a 250F 👌
Certified. The only thing that could kill my 06 150f was lack of oil lol
beautiful bike! the black rims just completely transform it!
Thanks mate ! Yea it sure did, from a distance it looks like an R model to some people , (listen to old mate at the end of the video) 👌
@@TeamBennyRides where did u find those black rims?
I finally got my hands on a nice used 250F. I kept watching this video while I was searching. I spotted a clean one that already had the Yoshi and came with a second set of rims in black(2.15 rear to boot!). No brainer! Such a fun bike. Thanks for the vid! :)
Glad we inspired you, and that does sound like the bike to buy ! Have a great time on the trails.
What a great find mate ! You will love it, let us know what you think of it or an update 👌
My son and I just got the 2022 models and we love the black rims and some of your other mods. The bike looks great! I need those rims.
We both know you need those rims ! 😂
Thanks mate

I am so happy to see these kind of bikes coming back on the market. Some of us just want simplicity and reliability. I bought a KLX300R and couldn't be happier.
And that is exactly why I bought the 250F ! back to basics air cooled low maintenance motor with a bit of modernisation included (EFI and electric start) can’t go wrong!
KLX 300 are great too ! Awesome trail bikes
Thanks
I want a dirtbike with 250R power and air cooled reliability I'm just waiting for Honda to release a crf450F
That's the best looking 250f out there!!!!
Thanks very much ! Very kind ! It’s a shame Honda didn’t wave the bling wand a little bit more eh ! Totally understand why Honda do it though, people would complain if it was too expensive so it’s really about personal customising to what your budget allows.
Bro so great to hear your voice..... great little bike. Sounds awesome looks to be as plush as you like them 😀 brings back some good memories
Copy that Driver !
Good old days of team Yamaha IT200 👌
I did the following
Race tech suspension front springs and emulator valve drilled holes etc
Shock got $1k custom race tech shock - it was garbage blew up 4 times stock shock took so much more of a beating. Stiffer spring alone perfect upgrade
Yoshi pipe air box mod
Moose front and rear with at81 Dunlop’s
Lift kit
Protaper bars
Thing ripped did a 24 hour race and it handled it like a champ no issues. She’s a heavy girl but starts every time brakes were decent motor and power were excellent for the woods and it looks badass the perfect upgraded xr250r
Wow ! Great mods Chris !
So much can be done to improve these bikes for sure ! YSS make a rear shock for these bikes too which sound pretty good.
XR replacement ? Definitely !
She’s a beauty mate! You’ve set it up exactly the way I want my 2023 to be.
Thanks very much ! Hope you’ve checked out the other videos on the 250f, more info on the black rims clip for you 👍🍻
Good luck mate !
Looks great mate. I just recently bought one and I tried to get my suspension upgraded here in Vic, the guys said they couldn't upgrade the suspension. Looks like I will have to give MPE a call.
Cheers
You won’t be disappointed !, some suspension shops don’t seem to want to help, like I’ve said before this suspension is absolutely able to be modified ! MPE will definitely help you ! Best in Australia 👌
Good luck mate 🍻
I've done the following to mine:
- Yoshi exhaust - Amazing pipe.
- EJK tuner - not sure it's worth the money or required if you go the yoshi root.
- MPE modified forks and shock - worth every penny! Amazing results!
- Lithium battery
- Airbox mod and twin air filter
- DID Xring chain
- CRF150R gear shifter (Hammerhead) - longer and allows you to lift the shifter without hitting the case.
- DRC footpegs
- Pro taper bars and grips + bark busters
- Anker risers from Hyperlite moto
- Anker light pull clutch kit - was ligher, but changed the bite position and ran out of adjustment. Removed as I didn't like the late bite.
- Anker frame guards from Hyperlite moto
Currently waiting stock for sprocket and works connection bash plate.
Awesome work Justin, where are you based ?
I see you got MPE to do your forks too.
Crikey Justin ! Great job ! They are great bikes with a bit of work 👌

Great vid..I have a 21, CRF 250F. Very soft for me and my riding style. Rode twice didn't want to mess up a great bike so I bought a CRF 450RX. Its just trying to kill me simply saying. Taking advice on what to do with the suspension, might be the best thing to do.
Love the 250f.
450 ! No wonder it’s trying to kill you ! 🥵
Suspension upgrades are the best thing for the 250F, you won’t regret it at all 👍 and it will only try to kill you a little bit 😂

Looks like the 250rx would have been perfect for you. I got one and it’s amazing.
This guy is having real fun.

I will be picking up a 2023 CRF 250 F this week. Thanks for the great video and all the mods you have done as I will be looking to do the same thing. I am a 56 year old guy at 200 pounds with no gear on so suspension mods are definitely in the future. You upgraded the exhaust but did not mention anything about a tuner? Is that something that you did? Thanks again
Thanks for watching ! Glad you enjoyed it 👍
No need, Yoshi tuned the pipe so we don’t need to remap the ecu, go to their website and look up CRF250F, all the information is there.

Beautiful machine mate, that pipe just makes that engine breath fuck it looks and sounds incredible, great job my friend!👍❤️🤠🇨🇦
For sure, eh ! 😂
“No worries mate” ! Thanks very much 🍻
Props for the limiter love on the yoshi show.
Also gotta say the 250 is mint for chugging up hills. It’s a really good hike just not so much in the top end.
Haha great video mate! Can tell you're loving it. Who in Oz did your suspension? I am in central NSW.
MPE Suspension in Caloundra QLD
They are fantastic, highly recommend them
Thanks 🍻
Great stuff. So much potential with these bikes. I'd love to see the fuel controller gains since they are usually lean even before you put an exhaust on.. Sounds mean on WOF too. Where in Oz are you ?
QLD 😎
Great Vid. About to buy this or the crf300. The last trail bike I road was a xr250 22 years ago, I now think this bike with upgrades will be more than i need. I'm in Sydney, are these trails in NSW.
Thanks Jason, I still have an XR250R (video coming soon), and they are very close with the CRF just having a few modern upgrades, ( EFI, electric start, which is huge !) Super efficient on gas too !
All comes down to weather you want simplicity with the air cooled , low maintenance and super reliable 250F or more technology in the 300. If you loved the XR back in the day then I think I might know the answer 😬
Good luck mate 👍
Love it! I would have went with gold rims, but the black look awesome. Did the suspension work raise the seat height?
Thanks ! , no it didn’t raise the height at all, proper sag set up and suspension set for your weight makes the bike ride way better on the trails
Great bike, are you at some point going to open up the airbox and get a power command tuner?
Thanks mate 🍻
Yea I cut the top out of the air box first and got some black mesh from the hardware store to put on the top, way better 👌(hard to remember everything I did when your standing in front of it on video)😂
Power commander is next but it’s still way better than stock.
Cheers 🍻
I own an 06 KTM 300xcw and I would trade it all day long for that bike! simple reliable, usable power. I am pretty novice so that tame 22hp would really help me develop my skill and gain confidence!
Absolutely mate, hope you’ve checked out the other videos of the bike? This bike is so good to start off on and then keep going even when you get up to speed
If you’re just into trail riding this bike would easily do it all no problem !
It’s certainly a keeper for sure
Get out and ride ! 😬
Great simple cost effective solutions to another wise great bike 👍
Couldn't agree more!
Were there any mods required to the ECU for adding the Yoshimura exhaust? Sounds and looks great by the way. Also curious what the weight savings might be. You sure seem to enjoy the bike despite being a TE300 owner!
No ecu remap yet, bike runs fine as I did the air box mod as well which was to cut the top out of it and put mesh on top to keep big stuff out, worked great, breaths much better ! Pipe is lighter than stock for sure.
The Husky is an amazing bike but the CRF is that fun cheeky play bike on the trails that certainly holds it own with the big boys !
New video up with more footage of the fun bike now 👌
Thanks mate
@@TeamBennyRides Isn't that going to be running the bike lean with the yoshi exhaust? I know on my husky FE501s I absolutely had to do an ECU swap prior or at the same time of doing my exhaust mod due to emissions being as lean as possible to meat California restrictions.
I just got my wife this bike and I want to get the exhaust, but I'm dragging my feet because of the required ECU mod that goes along with it.
These little tractors are absolute gems on the trails
You are not wrong, great bike…
It certainly surprises the boys on the big bikes sometimes 😬
Looks amazing!
Cheers Brando 🍻
Great video thanks , I'm in nz recently grabbed the 125fb upgraded the bars levers and shifter looking at adding more torque , still learning ideally should have gone for the 250
Thanks for that, yeah the 250F is probably the better option 😢 you would love it mate, a keeper 🤩
@@TeamBennyRides it was the weight that swayed me , next year might be trading in .
@@jstarkush8035

I just finished ARieman’s videos and luckily found your channel! 😂 more fun! Pure! 😂
If we aren't laughing we aren't riding !!! Glad you like the channel.
New subscriber here I have a 2019 250f and I love it I would like to know your exact specs on your suspension mods as I need mine done thanks.
Thanks very much ! I sent it to my local suspension experts at MPE Suspension in Caloundra QLD, AUS, and they said most of the work was done on the valving in the forks and rear shock once it had the correct spring rate for your weight. The valve work is the important part here as there is no adjustment after it has been done so it’s not something I just purchased and fitted myself. A good suspension shop will know exactly what to do ! It gave it really good compression and rebound as if you had clickers on your forks !
And as I said it’s a very affordable way to get good gains from average suspension as shims and fork oil are not expensive.
They are a great bike with a little help 🤩
Thanks
You did what I want to do. Bravo
Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it, get building champ 😂
From everything I’ve seen so far I really want one now 😭
Pretty good little package !

Where did you get your bash plate? I just got my crf250f three day ago. I’m loving it!
Part number is in the pinned questions at the top, they are a great little trail bike for sure, once you get the bling bug you won’t stop 😂
Wondering who did your suspension! Keen as👍
MPE Suspension, Queensland 👍
Getting ready to build my son a similar setup. For the wheel I read your responses below to others but unclear on the spokes. Any more details on the spokes used to lace up the wheels?
Front spokes are original with larger nipples to fit the new rim, rear spokes are larger with bigger nipples to suit the rim too.
The wheel shop drilled out the spoke holes in the rear hub only to accommodate the larger spokes (wasn’t much)
The rear spokes are what you would find on a bigger bike like a CRF450 for example so way stronger 👌
Hope this helps Brad,
Good luck with your build 🍻
New video uploaded explaining rims in more detail 👍
love the bike brother looks amazing
Thanks Larry 🍻
Hi, love the vid and all the mods you've done to the bike. Couple questions, is yoshimura still making the rs2 for the crf250f, how did you find out about it getting discontinued. Also, not to a specific number, but what type of upgrades do you think I should do to suspension. 95kgs and looking to start enduro/trail riding for fun. Been riding casually since a kid, but I'm not too extreme on a bike. Cheers mate, sorry for the massive comment and love the content
The Yoshi distributor said they had discontinued the 250F pipe so anything left in warehouses or stores is what’s left unfortunately. FMF still make one.
95 kg might need a fork spring upgrade with some shim work to complement it and maybe a spring rate up on the shock (possibly). Best advice is find a local suspension shop and ask for advice, tell them what your riding style is and they will adjust it to suit.
Good luck
@@TeamBennyRides thanks for taking time to reply, really appreciate it. Just on your experience, is the yoshi much louder than the stock exhaust. Fmfs q4 slip on is meant to be silenced, have you heard or know much about that? Thanks again and I hope your enjoying the bike
@@viclopresti6826
The Yoshi is of course louder than the stock exhaust but it is a very nice note, check out Benny’s other video CAN A CRF250F DO ENDURO if you want a comparison between the two. Yoshi make a quiet end cap to put in if you want, mine has the spark arrestor still in and it sounds great I think.

I just ordered a Yoshi pipe for my 250f. Is the air box mod or EJK tuner required or not? I see a lot of conflicting information on this topic. Don’t want to ruin my motor and not concerned about performance gains.
You can run the Yoshi without the EJK if you leave the airbox alone (read the details on Yoshi's website). Once you mod the airbox, you will need a tuner. I ran the pipe on it's on and eventually modded the airbox and added the EJK.
good night

@2:11 my 23' crf250f has plastic skid. I live in Washington State
One of the thing I forgot to mention, I’m 6 foot tall, and I will need to raise the seat up a little bit, and I know they have low ground clearance. One website I was looking at it, raise the ground clearance by almost 2 inches by changing the Suspension link. Did you do anything along those lines? Any part numbers, phone numbers, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I am in the states.
I didn’t raise mine at all as I’m 5’7 .

18x2.15 rear and 21x1.60 front rim sizes

I'm curious as to how that engine would respond to a Keihin FCR carburetor.
EFI motor on these bad boys, no carby to be seen Mark, another reason why they are so smooth to ride. We can remap or buy upgrades for them which does improve power from what I’ve read on other sites but I haven’t yet as it goes well with the pipe upgrade only at this point 👍
@@TeamBennyRides Thats right, I completely forgot these 250F's are fuel injected. And yes, with the opened up exhaust, remapping the ECU would be a good idea for sure, especially if you're looking for more power.
Because of strict emissions laws, these modern bikes typically come on the lean side from the factory as it is, and the opened pipe will only make it worse, as I'm guessing you're already well aware of.
Anyways, thats a pretty cool bike, I like the changes you've made too!
I started looking at this particular bike because I'm looking for something better for my uncle, he's still clinging to his old 86 XR250R. I've been trying to convince him to update to something a bit newer. He's in his mid 50's and the suspension on his XR is shot, watching him bounce around off every little bump makes me cringe lol.
I think he's grown accustomed to the crappy ride, and learned to compensate for that. But if he jumped on a CRF250F with the sag adjusted for his weight, he would probably be amazed at how well it handles.

Have you got any idea how I’d be able to get a factory headlight from one of the foreign models of that bike. It’s real disappointing that the us version didn’t come with it and the aftermarket ones all looks like crap
No, sorry mate, the only thing I can do is next time I go to my Honda shop I will get the part number for the light and the top and bottom metal brackets to mount it. Maybe your local Honda dealer will look it up for you.
Here’s the part number for the headlight everyone has been asking for,
61140K99B00ZA Visor Set
61310K99B00 Top bracket
61318K99B00 Bottom stay headlight
Visor set is the whole headlight assembly, the rest is the mounting brackets
Hope this helps everyone 👍
Good luck Ashton
Where did you get the head light assembly
Factory standard in Australia but based on how many people have asked I’m thinking about selling them internationally… They are a factory Honda part.
Where did you order that Honda branded headlight?
Hi mate, can you make this bike road legal in Australia ?
Don’t think so Quentin 😢 off road model only in Ozz
Which nitromousse did you use the platinum (10-12psi) or the plushie (6-8psi)?
NMS-18 305 plushie with a 110/100-18 Michelin Starcross 5 soft, brilliant traction .
Remember the tyre carcass are a bit harder on these tyres as they are not a gummy tyre so the plushie mousse goes well with them. Plus I run that size because of the wider rim (2.15 rear). If it was the original rim (1.85) I would run a nms-18 285 mousse .
Hope this helps 👍
So wait, what did you actually buy and do to the suspension to make it better?
Took it to MPE here on the Sunshine Coast
I have a 51 tooth in the rear, thinking the 12 tooth in the front. Have u tried that???
What state are you in ???
Queensland
Where do you find all the parts from exactly the pip
very nice bike, the most use for enduro in brazil and argentina, apart obiusly from the honda tornado
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Does it come stock with the headlight? On website it doesn’t show it
In AUS and NZ it certainly does.

How much, besides the suspension, do you think all these mods were?
The small stuff is pretty cheap as you would know, probably better to Google the bigger items in your area for prices as it would vary wildly around the world, I’d hate to throw out numbers that weren’t correct. Good luck
How's does the fuel injection deal with the new pipe and silencer?
Seems fine so far, no back firing or popping on de acceleration and it noticeably pulls better from idle to the rev limiter.
A remap will certainly improve it more but not absolutely necessary at this stage.
Can you send part# for the exhaust, handgaurds , front suspension
Yoshimura RS-2
The Yoshi website has it there under CRF250F, same with cycra website, Probend is the model of handguards, any good motorbike shop would order all the parts for you, mine did 👍
Find a good suspension shop for the suspension upgrades (springs and shim work) , read some of the other posts as I explain more there. Good luck Chris
@benny hey what light is that you got on it? Trying to find one with the on and off switch
That’s factory, it came brand new like that, doesn’t have a switch though just permanently on when you start the bike, check out Australia or New Zealand Honda websites for information maybe.
Thanks
ua-cam.com/video/7CGoi25yvWs/v-deo.html Frosty, part number is in the video ... Enjoy
What exactly did you do to the suspension ?
Whats the headlight you are using?, just bought a 250!
Congrats ! Factory headlight here in Australia and New Zealand, read Ashton holt question, I have the part numbers for it there 👍
Check out JCR Speed shop, they have a great looking headlight kit that looks almost identical 👌
I asked my dealer about a head light & they were like your stator might not be able to handle the extra voltage. Plus they said there wasn’t a factory one for my bike ?? 2024 please help me find one part # or ??
Rubbish, you’re dealer is too lazy to help and doesn’t know what they are talking about. This bike has a headlight factory fitted in Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil so the stator is more than capable !
All the information and parts numbers for the factory headlight are in Benny’s Honda CRF250F black rims video. Plus a great looking aftermarket headlight kit as well.
check it out Travis 👌👍
Good luck, let us know how you get on mate

At precisely 4:08 I put up on the screen exactly the part numbers and description, please watch the other video and take a screenshot. Tim and I had no idea the headlight would be of such interest to viewers as they are standard on the bike in Aus… Hope this information is illuminating to you and the dealer 🤣🤣🤣 Enjoy your ride !
I almost bought this but I decided to wait and grab the 250r instead
They are a lot of fun !
Do you find that you ride you 300 less?
I ride the CRF maybe once a month depending on the riding were doing, so not that much less.
We ride here nearly every weekend when we can.
Would this be a better bike to begin on than a beta xtrainer?
That’s really down to budget, the Beta is more capable, but if you are starting out the Honda is a more affordable entry point to make sure you enjoy riding, most people I’ve ridden with started on an air cooled non adjustable suspension Jap bike… That being said if you have the money for the Beta I’d go that way.
@@bennyrides thanks for your feedback
Been trying to find a slip on exhaust to fit this bike, can’t find one anywhere, anyone know where I can find one?
Hey question where did u get the headlight
ua-cam.com/video/7CGoi25yvWs/v-deo.html check out this video
Would like to ask where you got your skid plate or what brand?
I think it’s genuine Honda part but I’m trying to find out from my dealer that I bought it from, stay tuned 👍
@@TeamBennyRides great-thank you! Love your bike set-up.
@@roundbetty05
Ok, so it is a genuine Honda part,
L08BP250F is the part number.
Good luck mate 👍
did you have the shocks valved for rider weight?
Yes
Where did you pick up the headlight and what brand is it?
Headlight is factory Honda and is standard with Aus and NZ bikes... check out more recent videos where we have listed the part number if you are chasing one.
