I brought my Wii U to my aunt's house for New Year's Eve(almost two weeks ago) My family and I had a blast playing Wii Sports Resort and Just Dance 2014
OMG WAIT this unlocked a memory of how this game traumatized me as a kid. I had a family w mom, dad, and kid. The dad was cooking and he started a fire and SET HIMSELF on fire. I never had played the sims before so I had no idea what to do, I was thinking water.. Then got the bright idea to have him run to the ocean to put himself out. I started running from the house - I think it was that same one our character here lived in - but it was too late. He literally exploded in the street, and there was a pop-up that said "Daniel has died." LATER THAT DAY I had the kid visit the graveyard to mourn his dead father, BUT he was out past curfew and got taken away by the social worker 😭
Yeahhhh it happed to me too, but I think I was an evil child. Cause I actively tried to kill my parents on purpose and left me (child) alone. An then when the social service took me with them I was so mad, cause I wanted to live alone as a child. But obviously you can’t.
I'm sorry you had a bad first experience. If I'm honest, I thought this was the whole point of playing the Sims. Give them riches and destroy their lives. Then repeat. Kind of what happens to everyone who wins the lottery!
This game literally ruined my life for a year. My mom wouldn't buy me the pc version because it was more expensive, so she bought me this to "see if i'd like it". For a year, i had to keep having my sims move into the exact same house and do the exact same thing, except that they'd instantly outgrow the starter house and the move homes feature was glitched so i could never play more than one generation. My sims could also never get a taxi to work and so i always had to live in the house closest to work so they could run there. It was an absolute strategic headache
This game almost made my wii break. It ran like a jet plan anytime we played it. Also, everyone died after a few weeks. Fun little world tho. We had fun despite the glitches.

This game legitimately bricked my WII as a kid. It was my very first wii and one of the ones that could play gamecube discs. For years i had no idea why my WII had suddenly stopped reading discs and tried my very kid best to fix it. Only found out years later that this was a common problem FROM PLAYING THIS GAME!!! still had fun as a kid with it tho
this is the game that started my sims 3 addiction. my mom got this game for the wii for me when i was 7 yo and i’ve been playing ever since, i then switched to the ps3 version when the wii disk would bug tf out of my wii and wouldn’t work anymore (i had to unplug the console from the wall to reset it cuz the whole wii was frozen otherwise) and finally i played on pc for the first time (it was a crappy ass laptop of course). i’m now 21 yo and i’ve been playing sims 3 for the 2/3 of my life, and i don’t plan to ever stop. i’m even getting a plumbob tattooed this week ☺️ edit : got the plumbob tattooed i’m so happyyy ^^
As someone who had this piece of shit game i NEED you to play the multiplayer thing it has. Even if you just set up a second wii mote and play both characters. It's basically a Sims theme choose your own adventure and its wild
My only memories of this game but getting fed up - looking for motherlode - Realizing they didn't have cheats - Looking up easy money and finding the catfish money glitch - spending time to do it- then once I had money, being unable to buy custom houses and almost never being able to create my own house cause the wii crashed every time.
my brother and I played this a lot as kids. My dad loves to retell this story of him watching us play and us both being absolutely distraught that our sims were always late for work.
I played this game for so long that there was this glitch that all of the Sims would walk towards the tunnel at the back of the city and then just never come back.

Things that were always funnier just from his reaction now have loud, jarring effects (like at least two different car effects added in), and it makes the video feel like a bunch of tiny videos jammed together.

I played this game for HOURS until i got a laptop and could ask for the Sims 4. The most memorable parts were how loud the wii chugged as it STRUGGLED to work properly (it lagged, but never froze or crashed) and the fact that you can quit your job if you meet your boss. This works with teenagers. I would play a teenager and like kill off the parent or lock them away and find the principal to "quit" and try to mimic the homeless teen challenges id seen in the sims 4 on youtube. It was not the same.
Me and my sister played this game religiously, after a few generations the game got superrrr buggy wich is such a shame bc it was alright for a console port
