    I still think tales is the way to go, tell short stories that are self contained that could be set in Commonwealth, New York, other countries, or do a season long series around a group or story.. and feature different characters so they aren't competing for screentime.

    The beginning when the virus started. Which I thought Fear of the Walking Dead was supposed to be about but then season 3 it went to crap. Even the trailer showed it was suppose to be about the beginning of the outbreak.

    Hopefully they will start wrapping up the original characters stories and find a way to merge it all together so they all meet up on screen. I personally don’t really care how it all started - that would almost take some “magic” away from TWD. I am interested in the future of the universe though. What does Alexander/Common Wealth look like 20 years after Rick returned? That could also be used to mention how Rick and the gangs stories ended.

    UK, Russia, Japan, and India series collection (10 episodes each) that all lead into the Operation Firebreak (Primrose) series or 2. I called it Firebreak as the virus I'd called the Wildfire Virus. You stop a wildfire by making fire breaks.
    Beale collecting survivors who had to survive on nightmare setting from Day 1 and are still here among the living, we get to see their stories and how they become one of the best survivors in the universe.
    This would put the undead back into the forefront, as well as make it a horror series, with some lighter elements. Leave the US behind until the final lab episode. There, the OG cast can return to help being down all enemies.

    It up! I didn’t know about poll. I always forget to Ck community page. Well I would have been in minority. I would rather see something on origins of virus, wildfire & other mission of them trying to stop spread of walkers. Some original characters that we havent seen their past stories like Rosita. I think it would be interesting to see her with all people she was with & how she gained all her knowledge & how she met up with Eugene & Abraham. Tyrese & Sasha. I am really up for anything just so it’s written well & forwards story.

    For me, I wish an alternate version of FTWD where it would be a shortseries of at least 12 episode with hours of running time. This spinoff would be a mix between WWZ (novel) and American Horror Story where the characters of the earlier seasons of the series we got (like Nick, Travis, Alicia and etc) doesn't exist (or a least they would have a really minor rule in the entire series) and shows instead a more global point of view from various citizens, governments, scientists/epidomologists, militaries, terrorists organizations, organized crime, global organizations, refugee camps and etc from across the globe and from various cultures. Like in cases of governments, we see the US sending drones from Taiwan/South Korea to China for example and they saw riots and people being eaten alive by walkers and warns it's allies and other powerful countries about the situation, meanwhile during that time, the CCP it's trying not to create hysteria with the chinese people by doing mass censorship on the press (which is worsening the outbreak especially with a population of 1 billion people and infecting the surronding countries). India was aware of the situation, but the same thing with it's neighbor, overpopulation and get being easily overrun by walkers. Governments are trying hiding in places like Himalaya, Alpes, pyrenees, caucasian mountains, Hawaii, Madagascar, Ireland, Indonesian islands, mediterranean islands and much more and we get information if they are still alive or not. For scientists, we see them secretly studying the virus and sending measures (+soldiers) to contains it, try to find a cure (ultimately fail), CDC virologists fleeing towards their home to see their families or killing themselves. In the cases of miltary, we get more information why foreign militaries failed (besides half of the soldiers stayed at home), for nations that are poor or in development that don't have a stable structured regimes and Powerful/trained military like Mongolia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and various african nations and where medication is a luxury for extreme cases are obviously the ones that wouldn't stand a chance for a long time against the living dead (the outbreak would be much worse in countries devasted by war like Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Lybia and South Sudan due to they are thinking about killing each other rather to erases the zombies.) We are witnessing the fall of Altanta in the eyes of the tank soldier (+including the fall of LA in the eyes of the Clark Family like in the very first season FEAR.). We are going to learn if the operation cobalt was created by the US/canadian army or perpetuated by NATO and also we get the answer if every countries in the world has their own version of operation cobalt. For gangs and terrorist groups, the criminal leaders/members in Mexico would create their own armies to fight against the walkers (+ slaughtering population and each other) and rejecting Mexico's aid, same thing for ISIS/Al-qaida as well. For average citizens, we get a diverse point of the situation from various citizens on every part of Earth (+ we are seeing people trying sending walkers in hospital, mental institutions, jail or in reeducation center due to they live in some sort of parallel universe where zombie media never existed before). The tv series would show the pandemic causing a skyrocketing rise of refugees in catastrophic numbers that are fleeing in refugee camps (which are in reality a living hell on earth during an apocalypse due to running out of water and food that causes famine, cold, diseases, cannibalism and conflict within communites that cause a hard time for the army to set control and also contributs to put dictatorial & cannibalistic regimes in place in some if the camps are still around). The WHO tries to warns the UN to put a COVID-style lockdown on UN-affiliated countries to stop the spread.
    The tv show would mention themes like paranoia, fear, misinformation, conspiracy theories, defiance, geopolitics, persecuted minorities revolting, war, political instability, anarchy, famine, corruption, crime, ecology, ideology and etc. For paranoia and fear, people would be paranoic if somebody had symptoms like cold, sneeze, diarrhea, vomiting and cough and think he/she had the pathogen. For misinformation, defiance and conspiracy, people are saying that the wildfire virus it's just a flu,a hoax or made by the government to purposely depopulate humanity. In terms of geopolitics, minorities and war, the uyghurs, tibetans and palestinians would take advantage of the weakness of both the Beijing and Jerusalem regimes to creates indepedent nations that would be eventually swallowed quickely by waves of walkers. North Korea would take the opportunity of the situation to invade and blew up South Korea. With anarchy and famine, due to societal and economical collapses that causes corporations to go out of businesses, the living themselves would creates more human victims compared to the infected by rioting, reckoning and looting and the walkers would eat all the farming animals that cause the hunger to be even more terrible. In terms of political instability, crime and corruption, many central american nations and some south ones (like Venezula, Columbia and Brazil) for example are going to be the first nations to fall down in the new world due to cartels, gang war, corruption and political corruption that make the spreading more worse in the americas. For ecology, nuclear centrals that aren't being taken care of for months and years would explode and devasting the environment around them for decades and the zombies surrondings these areas would spread the population even further by walking everywhere and the final one is Ideology and we did see it in the actual show (some sort of it) under the form of racism in one of the soldiers in season 2 & 3 in fear the walking dead that he tought that some x ethnicities were superior to another and he wanted to kill all mexicans (I think).
    EDIT : Also I wish a WD spinoff that takes place in Australia with Mad max settings/vibes and it's even great if they make a series that places in my home province in Canada (quebec) in a city like montreal, gatineau/hull or quebec city (aka my current home city) or brought to life on the screen the comics that sets in magdalen islands :).

      TLDR: combine tales of the walking dead with Fear and show how other countries responded in the chaos

    • @MikoLanthierFrechette
      @MikoLanthierFrechette Місяць тому +1

      @@TrevHughes Well sorry it's to long to read for you, it's because I enjoy to make descriptive and detailed comments on X things.
      Also if I had the chance to write FTWD in my own vision (if I didn't have creative differences with AMC/Robert kirkman of course) and make it in a more max brook's wwz-style series, it wouldn't be just a simple mix between Tales and fear the walking about how every nations on earth disintegrated, also the series would touch sensitive subjects that leads humankind to fail against walkers like paranoia, divide and conquer, refugee crisis, political instability, geopolitic, war, anarchy, mefiance, crime, corruption and much more and that would make the tv show a commentary on everything wrong with society (especially during COVID). With people being afraid of other people showing symptoms and going on their way in stores to take stuff and being unfriendly to others and societal collapses would make things way worse (like we did see in case of sapiens and toilet paper). People disobeing authorities on the situations by falling into conspiracy stuff (like the case of plandemic and bill gates). In the show, if they found a cure (like a vaccine), the anti-vaxx would call the people who take it "sheep" while the media, leaders and people would blame and discriminate the unvaxx (who aren't anti-vaxx) that allows the virus to rule and conquer. The geopolitics theme would mention countries taking the chance to attack neighboring enemies and same thing for persecuted minorities as well. Countries with government corruption and ravaged by gang war and war are going to be the first nations to be overrun easily by walkers.
      With all of the elements together, this could have made FTWD the most ultimate and realistic product of the zombie genre (if it executed properly by the right people). For me a shortseries about the early days of the outbreak sounds more interesting due to you can show a lot things going on in 12 episodes compared to a survival show of 11 seasons showing people walking around in a forest and found a place that would eventually gets destroyed and repeat.

    In my opinion the early days of the walking dead show off a good perspective of what happens in cities from outside, while it's a little more in depth at the start of fear the walking dead which is great so I don't reckon a show about the fall of Atlanta would be adding that much to the show, in addition it would have new characters instead of known faces so it would be harder to entertain(the same goes for a new the walking dead show somewhere else, I think at this stage of the show it's hard to bring in completely new characters unless they are connected to the main ones already).
    On the other hand a story about the origin of the virus might be to scientific and maybe even boring.
    So my first idea would be the rise of the saviors show because you would see the other side of the story and see that Rick and Negan weren't so different in some aspects, which could end when they mee Rick group and connects to one the many iconic scenes featuring this two.
    While my seconds toughts go on the ones who live season 2 but I don't really know if after watching all fear the walking dead and how his character changed I'd still want him to come back, surely the writers would be different people but it would be weird to see him completely change back to before he left the original show like nothing ever happened in between, I'd rather see them reunite somewhere in the future in the much talked end game type show.

    The Walking Dead In South Korea

  • @deerpic
    @deerpic Місяць тому +1

    I'm looking at the poll and seeing 64% wanting past over future, just differing on what they might want to see. Which, given the options, a lot of it we've already seen. We saw the fall of a major city in Fear. We've also seen Mexico in Fear, and now France in Daryl Dixon. We've seen the "Here's Negan" arc which *almost* is the Rise of the Saviors. A virus origin story would likely be more technical and less survival, and extremely limited in scope.
    Fear initially set out to give us the collapse of society as its main premise, but after season one, it had to move on from that and become its own survival story. And credit where due, it did a lot of unique things in the first three seasons before becoming ridiculous nonsense.
    As much as I'd like to see a Rick, Daryl, and Morgan reunion (in TOWL2, for instance), and their reactions to Negan, the CRM, etc., that's really more of a fan-service mini-series than a way to move the IP forward.
    Maybe at some point in the future we can revisit a future scenario with a grown-up Judith, etc. facing crises of resource shortages as humans slowly repopulate the planet. All the lost and forgotten knowledge needing recovery while trying to control the inevitable, unending threat of the undead.
    But in my opinion, the most interesting part of a zombie apocalypse, be it on TV or in a movie, is seeing how characters learn and adapt to their new reality. How they find unique solutions to their circumstances. We, as the audience, learn with them. It's part of what made the early years of TWD so good.
    The problem with going back is that you can only tell the same story so many times, so the initial premise and circumstances have to be novel enough to maintain an audience. So I think a spin-off of the early days of the zombie apocalypse that shows us different circumstances with new likable, well-written characters facing different types of challenges to what we've previously seen would be the best bet.
    Black Summer, the gritty prequel to the more comedic Z Nation, did something like that where the scenarios were completely different, but the lore followed what we'd already understood from the established universe.
    A new spin-off needs to be more universe-building and less formulaic. For instance, the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, though not perfect, was filled with an abundance of world-building, adding volumes to the mythos, and included many new, likable, well-written characters facing different challenges that what we saw in the Original Trilogy. Whereas, the Sequel Trilogy was heavily formulaic, added nothing to the lore, and included new characters that were generally bland and/or unlikable. There's a reason why a character like Boba Fett, who had a total of maybe 5 minutes of screen time throughout 6 films, is and will always be a more popular character than any original Sequel Trilogy character such as Kylo Ren or Rey.
    But I am a die-hard fan who even suffered through seasons four through eight of Fear. But that is just my hope for the future of The Walking Dead franchise.

      @@TWDExplained Yes, I think they've indicated as much with the introduction of so many children between Judith, RJ, Coco, Gracie, Mo in Fear, and all the kids in WB. Gotta give them all a chance to grow up first; otherwise, they have to recast them all. But going back I think is a better idea with a fresh slate of people to get the viewers invested in as opposed to some kid who's an already established character's offspring. The stakes are higher with unknowns in a universe where anyone can die at any time. Reset the plot armor.
      And I haven't decided which season of Fear is the absolute worst. For me, it's either five or seven. Five was miserably awful, but seven was infuriatingly awful.
