Thank you Neko Case! I would not have "discovered" Calexico had I not found the video of Tapping on the Line with Neko singing (she appears on their new recording). Aside from her phenomenal solo career she seems to have a predilection for interesting song writing and large scale almost orchestral bands--(see the incredibly talented New Pornographers). Love the latest record from Calexico. They remind me a lot of another Southwest band "Cock Robin" (worth checking out if you like Calexico).
@@dudemanyeah1645 they are coming back in Europe & Belgium ( sold out for the first show on the 30th July ) this July . Its gonna be heated & electric . Can't wait for my 30th Calexico gig , they don't seem to age .....

+Patrick Sans check their new 2016 Tour dates - they are back to Belgium too - we are seriously blessed by Calexico - they will be playing 15 kms from where i live on the 28 th april . One more joy - especially with Gabi Moreno , that girl has the heart and talent .
+Jean-michel Cornil thank you, i just went to the Lille concert last saturday. The aeronef in Lille is a very good space for live concerts and everething was great. Joey played with Gaby in the first song and the musicians entered one by one to be finally Calexico and Gaby Moreno!!! Joey and all the musicians are great and simple. Dear Jean Michel, if you saw them 19 times , you are an absolute fan !!! I just discovered them last year and hope to see them again. Joey and the gang are so simple and nice . Beautiful attitude and music. I also appreciated the very reasonable price of the show, which demonstrate they really play for music and probably not for money...love them too.

On top of that , they come again in Belgium this summer ( Cactus festival ) - i saw them twice over there already and its one of the nicest summer fest . Just bought the tickets for the concert in Leuven next April. And now 1,5 month joy with a lot of "voorpret". It is a pitty they won't perform more in my neighborhood. But they are worth to travel and besides: Its the best excuse to travel to Belgium once more. @ Jean-michel Cornil: Thanks for the tip, else I missed it again, last year in Groningen en Utrecht (NL) they were fully sold out and I fished behind the net.

they have come a few days ago in Portugal ( Porto )on the 12th October . They are starting their French dates with Montpellier on the 17th & i will attend their 20th October one in Le Havre , in Normandy .
I love how Jacob Valenzuela takes the reins on "Esperanza" and carries the song entirely, with the whole ensemble playing humble backup. Wonderful to see how Jacob has grown as a singer over the years, and has been encouraged to contribute by this amazing collective that is Calexico!

Every time I've seen them, Joey & John are outside in the lobby after the show. Friendly. THIS MUSIC is so fn real.
