Another few spiral tips are 1) Stretch regularly off ice (splits if you can) and 2) Get heavy ish ankle weights and practice going up into the spiral position off ice with them on. This makes it easier to push up into them despite the weight of the skates.
That helped me so much! I wanted to try out spirals, and I noticed it didn’t work, but I figured it out after you explained that your toes should be pouting to the side, and not down to the floor and behind you
