    I think that camera person deserves some ice cream for their meticulous work and effort. I am a huge fan of the factory dash bits so its very nice to see it functional.

    Ive just fitted up a 4l80e behind a carbed 454 in a g20 van. Setting up the transmision controller and tps etc. This will come in very handy for my application.Thank you so much for uploading this video.

      I'm about to do the same motor/trans in a 70 Nova. How did it end up working for you? Would you go this route again?

    Thank you! I have almost the same setup for a 1966 F100 that has been upgraded in many ways but not speedo out. This is it!

    The speedbox cable information is limited or actually incorrect from manufacturer. I spoke with Jeggs and they also gave me incorrect information. So.. basically Ford, Chevrolet and Chrysler all used the threaded cable prior to estimate 1980. I was told clip on cable for a 1956 Chevrolet Belair, yeah right.
    Great video much more informative than the directions.

    My brother has that engine. It's in the last year run of the 460. The EFI started giving all sorts of trouble. I pulled the top end off and redone the heads , made a simple 4 barrel adapter for the intake. Used a Holley Demon 650 on it. Also dropped in a General Motors destribitor , and got rid of the Ford garbage ignition system. Anyway it woke that engine up like you wouldn't believe. He says it gets much better gas mileage now as well. It had pulling power before , but now it'll twist the driveshaft into a candy cane. Like seriously it has so much power it will self destruct itself now. I've had to replace two clutch discs since doing the carb swap.

    More of an FYI- Ford , GM, Chrysler used a base reference in design of 1000 rpm on the drive cable at 60mph.

      Still having good luck with it, haven't had a dead spot in the gps yet, only thing I can say is make sure you have that cable setup in a nice smooth route, it binds up pretty easy.

    Cool part. Personally, I would be annoyed by the fact that the speed signal wasn't generated in the truck, but that's my preference. I am a little surprised you couldn't just install a magnetic pickup on the transmission u-joint or something. Still would need a box to convert it to a mechanical signal though.

    • @ConeDodger240
      @ConeDodger240  3 роки тому +1

      The same box can be used in that way, if you send it vehicle speed sensor data it can convert it to mechanical. If I was using OBD2 or a more modern ecu setup, this would be possible.

    just a heads up that speedbox is not waterproof so not a good idea to put it in the engine compartments

      I'd be in a world of hurt to get water up that way, but thanks for the tip I'll build a box for it to block possible coolant explosions as least

    0.05A of trickle power is actually a lot. That would suck about 1Ah per day out of your battery. I would guess (and hope) it's more like 0.005A.

    As your driving down the highway at 60 mph, have your wife start a stopwatch at the beginning of a mile marker, and stop it at the very next mile marker. Look down at stopwatch, it should be at one minute (you're just dividing, if you drove 60 mph for an hour, you would've passed 60 mile markers)...

      There is no trans output on the zf5 I used, think that's the case use for most people using something like this so no plug included

    So hooked mine up to mustang and guage is all over the place. How do I get it to work correctly. I hook GPS antenna up. Black to ground and red to ignition. Working but not accurate at all.

      I found that to be related to cable routing, the motor seems pretty weak and only likes to spin at the right speed at a very specific angle, with minimal kink
