    Just read about that Emirates 777 Dubai incident. Absolutely mind blowing that any airline pilot would wait for the FD to tell them to rotate without looking at their V speeds, no wonder they were fired, that’s not just unprofessional, it’s crazy.

      Especially with four people sitting in there. I can understand how ONE Pilot can do a mistake - that can happen at any time - but there were three more sitting there.

    Amazing video as always, I have an idea for future videos. It would be to make study cases out of sim pilots, either from twitch or UA-cam or people sending their own videos to you. However not with the point of view saying you're doing it wrong but either you should correct this and help that simmer to be more realistic and proficient. I would've love to have someone telling me "you're doing it wrong this is how it should be done" when I started back in the day. I would do it but I'm not a pilot just a very avgeek Cabin crew 😂
    Ps: If you want some videos I could send you some links for you to get started

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Рік тому

      That's a great idea indeed! Of course we would need the simmers permission to do so. But if you have any links please do send them and I'll have a look.

    The point about holding off is really interesting, Emi. As someone who flies GA aircraft in the real world, I am very much prone to doing that in airliners in the sim - the strategy must be to just get it down and in the TDZ.

      Just bang it onto the aiming point. Once you're proficient at doing that you can start aiming a bit before it and make the landings smoother. Not too smooth though for the reasons mentioned.

    Very good video! The scale in which soft landings get more points and "bad" get less or minus points in VAs annoyes me since i watch your videos. In vRYR and a "perfect" landing is between -136 and -164. Landings between -350 and -499 get minus 10 points. xDD

    Wow I feel a little better about myself after watching this, or at least not as incompetent as usual haha. I all ways try to be a real stickler about following the checklist, which has all those issues you pointed out on it to remind me. Which brings a question to mind. How accurate is the in game checklist that is in msfs for the pmdg? Is it something pmdg sends as part of the 737 or is it something Asobo came up with?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Рік тому +1

      I believe it's something PMDG came up with, but to be honest I never even looked at it 😅

      @@A330Driver haha I would give you a hard time for not looking at the checklist but it seems like you have it memorized in all your videos anyway.
      I am trying to do the same thing too and commit it to memory. Figure be for doing that though it might not be a bad idea to make sure its as close to the genuine article as I can get😉
      Thank you for all the information and educational content. This is one of the best places on UA-cam to get actual knowledge and it's much appreciated sir!

    Reach VR and rotate with 2 degree/second then you will be safe as well single engine

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Рік тому

      2° is the maximum though, I'd rather go a tiny bit slower when sufficient runway is available. 1.5-2.0° is recommended. With 2.0 being the maximum.

    Wait…that Emirates incident. They didn’t rotate because the command bars didn’t move?
    HOW??

    • @WhiteHawk77
      @WhiteHawk77 Рік тому +1

      Four people were fired so it seems both that crew and the previous crew, according to reports Emirates put an alert stating:
      “LANDING/ SHUT DOWN MCP CHANGES CREWS ARE REMINDED THAT THERE ARE NO FCOM NORMAL PROCEDURE (NP) REQUIREMENTS TO CHANGE THE MCP AFTER LANDING OR SHUTDOWN.
      THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN THE MCP “ALTITUDE WINDOW” HAS BEEN SET TO THE AIRPORT ELEVATION WHICH MAY CAUSE ISSUES ON THE SUBSEQUENT DEPARTURE. THE FCOM 4.10.2 STATES THAT THE AFDS WILL ENGAGE IN “ALT” WHEN THE FIRST FLIGHT DIRECTOR SWITCH IS TURNED ON, IF THE MCP SELECTED ALTITUDE IS WITHIN 20 FEET OF THE DISPLAYED BARO ALTITUDE.
      CREWS SHALL NOT SET AIRPORT ELEVATION ON THE MCP AFTER LANDING OR SHUT DOWN.”
      So looks like the previous crew set the MCP to the airport elevation after landing at Dubai, that messed up the FD for the departure in question, that crew then for some unbelievable reason just solely relied on the FD for when to rotate instead of checking their speed against the V speeds. Crazy stupid.

      @@A330Driver Show the procedure. I saw that there are only 3 things to do after a tail strike, but showing where the procedure should be used would be interesting and in addition to making the video more didactic, with all due respect, don't you think?

    Maybe it has to do with the fact that the PMDG flight model is very slippery, and has too much ground effect. This means that if you pull too much on the lever, the plane will go up into the sky, which means that you have to be very careful.
    When I flew in Level-D I did as I was used to at home in the simulator which resulted in a very hard landing, listen to my captain friend's comment "UP, UP, UP, UP":
