This is my top 40 of the songs that competed in this years Eurovision Song Contest. The ranking has been concluded based on the performances during the contest.
I just love this year. So many songs which fills me with that magical Eurovision feel. (ok, about 10) I was especially impressed by our neighbors in Norway, Estonia and Latvia. Beautiful songs and performances. And girls. The 4th place for Belgium and 5th place for Australia felt good. So did 11th for Georgia, despite the smoke machine malfunctioning. I can't for the life of me remember Russia's song but I'll never forget Polina. She seemed like such an adorable person, even after losing relatively narrowly. Had a million times more sympathy for her than I did for the bread bakers in 2012. I felt sorry for Italy, but thankfully they'll win this year. ^^ The biggest bummer for me was Spain. Still love the song, but the staging felt detached, and the TV production managed to make it even worse.
i am always happy to see that people actually loved Italy! i mean, they really are THE REAL winners! i am NEVER EVER going to be okay, jury were so unfair to put them on so low place, like are they blind, no, are they deaf??!
I ould understand every single word in grande amore after 1/2 year of learning italian and nothing except the title of n'oubliez pas... after 4 years of learning french. I deally agree with your number one!
top songs She was sick but her performance wasn't bad at all, Her song was the most difficult to sing in the competition. She did a Great Job. The last minute was incredibly powerful.
thanks for the third place :) Italy is my number 1 as well I don't listen to any song before the contest and, even after more than 2 years, I still remember that I was blown away by Italy's performance, watching their song without saying a single word (my parents as well) and than we all voted for them :)

I somewhat disagree with your winner. Grande Amore is indeed a beautiful song and deserved a top 10 but not a win because there were more timeless songs like Goodbye to Yesterday or Here for you. And I am not sure it would get the same ranking if sung by another country in another language. Nice to see Montenegro in your top 10 and I agree that Czech Republic, Ireland and Belarus would have deserved a qualification. Concerning my country France, I found the song sincere and beautiful despite the lack of modernity (but it would be common knowledge if modernity helped in getting points at ESC) and when it came to stage, it was way better in my opinion than Twin Twin. One wiwiblogger wrote that "N'Oubliez pas was the karma to the viewers' treatment of Anggun, Amandine and Twin Twin". Do you think somewhat the same ? Agree with so much on this list!!! Only difference mostly would be my top 3 😄 Mine would probably be something like: 3.Austria/Ireland, 2.Australia and 1.Belgium 😄
Surprises: - Cyprus (yes the lyrics are heartfelt but the song is just so basic, lower for me) - Czech Republic (yes, the Czechs were robbed at their return >:[) - Belarus (yes, big robbery of 2015) - Ireland (not on the placing or song, but rather on you saying Ireland will never be appreciated by Europe) - Australia (I still think this is their best entry to date, not Dami or Kate) - Montenegro (yes my 2nd! I will forever hate people who despise Balkan ballads for no reason) - Slovenia (my 4th! Just perfect) - Norway (OMG yes, it's my 3rd. Finally some top maker putting this in top 3. Purely emotional af) Disagree: - France (all I can say is don't be quick to judge and find out the meaning of its lyrics) - UK (surprisingly enjoyed the package. Can understand why most people don't though) - Moldova (not on the position, but since you say it was stale) - Germany (didn't really get bothered the bum showcase. In my top 15) - Albania (take into consideration that she was sick. Song is awesome and the vocals are much better than in SF) - Hungary (it's my 5th. The feels, voice and message blends well) - Azerbaijan (just on the placing. My 10th) - Malta (eh Idk why but I don't like this one too much) - Russia (I have a viewpoint like you, but I put much lower) - Greece (eh too boring for me, lower) - Latvia (my winner! I don't think the song need anything else, the emptiness is intended to be there. And Aminata's vocals is just fine in the chorus) - Estonia (I prefer Slovenia but still like it. My 16th) 2015 was such a ballad heavy year that it made me put more non-ballads or unusual ballads on the upper-hand of my top. Nonetheless I do put some high quality ballads there too. 16) Sometimes it's good to be wrong but you weren't to know that Lie to Me, Lake Malawi and Lights Off would be on their way to slay in the future. 15) She got Georgia into the final and the left side of the board - result I'd say especially in a very strong year.

I totally agree! 40: I do respect these guys but Eurovision is not the best platform for them... 39: two kids are singing great. but the problem is, they still sound like kids. I like their joy but I can't share it... 38: Only this one I would have rated highter. When I first saw it, it made me cry. She has such a great voice! 37: I don't like it! And you're right, she sings awful! 36: the Why, i, i, i, i, i... is sooooo annoying. But she did it well and looked great on stage! 35: this is catchy but not a good Eurovision song. I like to hear it in the background of doing something, but it's getting annoying in focus on the lyrics and the staging. 34: uuuuuuh awful! don't like the song at all! 33: It is totally overrated! It is just a mainstream ballad with a good voice and an awkward performance. 32: I like the song. the chorus makes me laughing everytime, but I don't know if this is planned to be so. 31: I don't understand the lyrics but it has not convinced me. It's not the best one of portugal. 30: also here I have a lot of respect for this woman! But the song is not very interesting... 29: ass, ass, ass. but she has also a very pretty face. and a great voice. But I would have chosen an other song from germany! 28: I enjoyed the video clip but the performance was terrible. even a bit ridiculous! 27: this message is perfect for Eurovision and they are such great singers but they're too different! so I agree that there is a big mess in the end... nevertheless I like the song! 26: not the best entry of switzerland (I am Swiss...) it is too mainstream and not outpointing so it got forgotten... :( 25: maybe I can't understand the music culture of albania but in my opinion the vocals are bad! 24: I would have replaced this ballad with the one of France (nr. 38). But only because I was not touched of her emotions and the whole song... It's not bad. 23: It's a very good song! the more I hear it the more I like it!! We will hear a lot from the Makemakes in future I hope!! 22: the melody is catchy and it makes me happy when I hear this song. Well done!! Love his dance, the vocals and the rythm (inside). But I know that the Eurovision Song Contest still remains a Contest between countrys and not between singers. otherwise Il Volo would be the real winner!! Doubt you're checking comments on these old videos, but I just rewatched this contest with my daughter and we were curious to see what you were liking that year. You and I have almost exactly the same songs in our top 10 (somewhat different order). The only one you have that I don't have is, funnily enough, your winner: Italy.
I totally agree with you on your top 3! I think Italy was the best too but I voted for Norway because I fell in love with them in the semi final and Italy was the last performance of the night. Anyways, last year was an amazing Eurovision year! Really looking forward to this year!!

If You really liked the song '"Grande Amore" and Italy at the ESC, You should listen to the new song of Il Volo "L' amore si muove"! It's in italian but the sound and the 3 guys' voices are amazing like ESC performance. Just a difference, the new song is really pop!
Almost all of Il Volo's songs are magical. I love how they're giving a new generation an interest in opera. That opera doesnt have to be stuffy or large women in viking helmets (hey its an opera stereotype). What these three young men do are much like the Three Tenors but for a new fresh generation. I hope we hear more from Il Volo

This was a really good year. It's so tough doing the top 40. 40.) Finland (The fact that this would've qualified in televoting made me throw up.) 39.) San Marino (They sound worse together. Yikes.) 38.) Lithuania (One of the most overrated songs this year. It's a big mess.) 37.) UK (So outdated.) 36.) Moldova (It sounded so annoying.) 35.) Iceland (Ouch. It really hurt my ears.) 34.) I agree with you in almost everything. I only disagree in 4 aspects: I love Portugal's song. I hate Hungary's song. I hate everything about the cypriot entry. I'm so BORED about the slovenian song.
My top from 2019 (opinion only) 1. Montenegro, 10/10: Montenegro is always so underrated, 2013 was my 2nd place and it didn’t even qualify and now it doesn’t even come top 10. How can such a beautiful song not come top ten. The entry from the start to end mesmerizing and beautiful. His vocals are amazingly awesome, the staging and dancing are precious, backups dancers/singers are in SS tier, instrumental from start to end has no words to describe it and the ethnic part to it adds to the perfect Eurovision song 2. Slovenia, 10/10: Slovenia underrated as always. This is one of the best Eurovision songs ever, her vocals are so intriguing and the staging is awesome. A really nice instrumental and it’s one of the best if not the best duo we saw this decade in Eurovision in my opinion. This can’t be topped or can barely be topped 3. Georgia, 10/10: ok how tf this did not come top 10, everything is off the charts in this (my top four keeps constantly changing). Style, meaning, vocals, song, staging, performance, all absolutely astounding 4. Belgium, 10/10: he’s so young and he made his own song, lyrics and music. The staging and the song were amazing and modern and his vocals were on point 5. Italy, 10/10: this defines what a 10/10 is. I just can’t put it higher. In my opinion, it should’ve won. Italy is always so robbed 6. Azerbaijan, 10/10: it’s one of the best ballads brought to Eurovision and his vocals are one of the strongest male vocals of the year. The staging is awesome and it’s an overall amazing live performance 7. Latvia, 10/10: the song is really intriguing and her vocals are really great. The staging is awesome and it got the place it deserved 8. Albania, 10/10: it’s sad she was sick when she performed because she can really sing and the song is really beautiful. Albania is always underrated 9. Sweden, 10/10: a deserved winner. A really professional performance 10. Spain, 9.5/10: I really love the song, it’s really beautiful (I’m a spainish speaker btw). Edurne really brought the performance to life and her vocals in my opinion are one of the best 11. Belarus, 9.5/10: ok this one really had to qualify. The instrumental are great, Uzari can sing and the song is really good 12. Estonia, 9.5/10: i really like everything about it, I just can’t put it higher 13. Romania, 9.5/10: it’s a charming song with a really nice message, the vocals were good and the staging was too 14. Macedonia, 9/10: i really like the song and i don’t think the staging is bad. His vocals were solid. I should’ve qualified in my opinion. The song is one of the best in my opinion hence why it’s high 15. Australia, 9/10: his vocals are really good, the song is really nice and the staging is very solid. An overall really nice entry 16. Malta, 8.5/10: it should’ve qualified, good vocals, really nice song and good staging 17. Israel, 8.5/10: it’s a really good, fun and catchy song which was needed in the competition 18. Serbia, 8/10: her vocals were really good and the song is decent. I agree that the lyrics are a bit weird but it’s an overall good performance 24. Germany, 8/10: it’s decent overall. Her vocals are decent and the song Is good. I liked the staging 25. Moldova, 8/10: the vocals were not the best but the song is fun and the performance was really entertaining 26. Hungary, 7.5/10: it has a nice message and they sing well together. The song is a tad boring but it’s good overall 27. Armenia, 7.5/10: i really love the staging and they sing nice together. My top 3 was 1. Belarus 2. Switzerland 3. Italy So in the final, I ended up calling pretty much for Italy... I'm still sad that they didn't win. (This contest was so awesome lol)
I must say, I've finally found someone who agrees with my tastes on UA-cam. My only changes would be 1) I feel that France's song should be higher, and I feel it gets a bad rap 2) I'd place Montenegro a bit higher 3) I'd put Romania higher, as I really like how he uses the different languages 4*) I might switch 1 and 2, and I think that the only reason Italy deserves number one is that language fits perfectly. Other than that, Norway definitely

Groot i like the song...but the performance and dress was soooooo bad. Along with Spain, it was a huge letdown :(. I was expecting a lot more especially after Anouk and Common Linnets last year. Netherland's performance last year was flawless

I find it slightly ironic that you claim the Georgian song was forgotten in the final, yet you placed it lower than its actual placing in said final. Nice too see slovenia so high though, one of my favourites last year.

Yes, Italy is my #1, Norway #2 and Estonia #3. All 3 screamed "QUALITY" (and you can guess Montenegro was my #4). By the way, the most energetic song for me was Israel. Many were not qualified because they havedn't had neighbors to vote them! That's a huge problem every year.
France's song was a cheap copy of Only Teardrops, with bland writing and a generic blend overall. If it won, this year would've been Azerbaijan 2011 all over again. Belgium's song this year was the best, in my opinion.
This is pretty much identical to my predictions. how italy or norway didn't win is beyond me this contest would be much better if people didnt know which countries represented the songs
UnderRated: Armenia (beautiful Song, great vocals), Albania (She is an Amazing singer, the last minute was so powerful, Top10), Greece (Great singer and performance) Austria (Top 15), Estonia ( My Winner). OverRated: Lithuania(cheap), Cyprus(Disney song), Belarus (boring&repetitive), Malta (I didn't miss her in the Final), Slovenia (good but 7th is to high maybe 17th), Russia (So Boring, I will never understand her placing), Italy (I'm from Italy, but I think that Estonia, Norway and Belgium were better than this).
One of my favorite years. I am a sucker for well constructed power ballads. My absolutely favorite songs are Norway, Romania, Italy, Belgium, Estonia, Ireland, Czech Republic, Greece, Montenegro, and a well deserved winner from Sweden. PS. Intereting that you said that France has the most boring ballad, as I find it remarkably similar to their ballad from 2002, which was your 2nd spot, with a matching praising comment. Now, 2002 was one of, if not the worst year of all, so even the best song there wouldn't crack top 10 in 2015, but 38th spot - really? Interesting.

Great list! I disagree with three, though (I still respect your opinion!). Here are my two cents: (Sweden) I personally think that Måns already knew he was going to win, so he didn't bother to give a good performance. He was GREAT in Melodifestivalen, alright in the 2nd Semi Final and just...bad in the Final, where it counted the most. He had a good song, but his performance did NOT deserve first place. (Spain) In my list Edurne would've been lower. She was out of breath the entire song, which is unexcusable because she barely even moves. Which is a shame, considering how good the song is. (Serbia) Bojana was great! Her vocals are quite good, both on stage and in the studio version. Everything about her performance felt right in my opinion.

The best ever year of eurovision
I just love this year. So many songs which fills me with that magical Eurovision feel. (ok, about 10)
I was especially impressed by our neighbors in Norway, Estonia and Latvia. Beautiful songs and performances. And girls.
The 4th place for Belgium and 5th place for Australia felt good. So did 11th for Georgia, despite the smoke machine malfunctioning.
I can't for the life of me remember Russia's song but I'll never forget Polina. She seemed like such an adorable person, even after losing relatively narrowly. Had a million times more sympathy for her than I did for the bread bakers in 2012.
I felt sorry for Italy, but thankfully they'll win this year. ^^
The biggest bummer for me was Spain. Still love the song, but the staging felt detached, and the TV production managed to make it even worse.

I somewhat disagree with your winner. Grande Amore is indeed a beautiful song and deserved a top 10 but not a win because there were more timeless songs like Goodbye to Yesterday or Here for you. And I am not sure it would get the same ranking if sung by another country in another language. Nice to see Montenegro in your top 10 and I agree that Czech Republic, Ireland and Belarus would have deserved a qualification. Concerning my country France, I found the song sincere and beautiful despite the lack of modernity (but it would be common knowledge if modernity helped in getting points at ESC) and when it came to stage, it was way better in my opinion than Twin Twin. One wiwiblogger wrote that "N'Oubliez pas was the karma to the viewers' treatment of Anggun, Amandine and Twin Twin". Do you think somewhat the same ? I enjoy the editing of your rankings and wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

2015 was such a ballad heavy year that it made me put more non-ballads or unusual ballads on the upper-hand of my top. Nonetheless I do put some high quality ballads there too. Overall, a stronger year than 2014 and I generally like it.

If You really liked the song '"Grande Amore" and Italy at the ESC, You should listen to the new song of Il Volo "L' amore si muove"! It's in italian but the sound and the 3 guys' voices are amazing like ESC performance. Just a difference, the new song is really pop!
Almost all of Il Volo's songs are magical. I love how they're giving a new generation an interest in opera. That opera doesnt have to be stuffy or large women in viking helmets (hey its an opera stereotype). What these three young men do are much like the Three Tenors but for a new fresh generation. I hope we hear more from Il Volo

My top from 2019 (opinion only)
1. Montenegro, 10/10: Montenegro is always so underrated, 2013 was my 2nd place and it didn’t even qualify and now it doesn’t even come top 10. How can such a beautiful song not come top ten. The entry from the start to end mesmerizing and beautiful. His vocals are amazingly awesome, the staging and dancing are precious, backups dancers/singers are in SS tier, instrumental from start to end has no words to describe it and the ethnic part to it adds to the perfect Eurovision song
2. Slovenia, 10/10: Slovenia underrated as always. This is one of the best Eurovision songs ever, her vocals are so intriguing and the staging is awesome. A really nice instrumental and it’s one of the best if not the best duo we saw this decade in Eurovision in my opinion. This can’t be topped or can barely be topped
3. Georgia, 10/10: ok how tf this did not come top 10, everything is off the charts in this (my top four keeps constantly changing). Style, meaning, vocals, song, staging, performance, all absolutely astounding
4. Belgium, 10/10: he’s so young and he made his own song, lyrics and music. The staging and the song were amazing and modern and his vocals were on point
5. Italy, 10/10: this defines what a 10/10 is. I just can’t put it higher. In my opinion, it should’ve won. Italy is always so robbed
6. Azerbaijan, 10/10: it’s one of the best ballads brought to Eurovision and his vocals are one of the strongest male vocals of the year. The staging is awesome and it’s an overall amazing live performance
7. Latvia, 10/10: the song is really intriguing and her vocals are really great. The staging is awesome and it got the place it deserved
8. Albania, 10/10: it’s sad she was sick when she performed because she can really sing and the song is really beautiful. Albania is always underrated
9. Sweden, 10/10: a deserved winner. A really professional performance
10. Spain, 9.5/10: I really love the song, it’s really beautiful (I’m a spainish speaker btw). Edurne really brought the performance to life and her vocals in my opinion are one of the best
11. Belarus, 9.5/10: ok this one really had to qualify. The instrumental are great, Uzari can sing and the song is really good
12. Estonia, 9.5/10: i really like everything about it, I just can’t put it higher
13. Romania, 9.5/10: it’s a charming song with a really nice message, the vocals were good and the staging was too
14. Macedonia, 9/10: i really like the song and i don’t think the staging is bad. His vocals were solid. I should’ve qualified in my opinion. The song is one of the best in my opinion hence why it’s high

I must say, I've finally found someone who agrees with my tastes on UA-cam. My only changes would be
1) I feel that France's song should be higher, and I feel it gets a bad rap
2) I'd place Montenegro a bit higher
3) I'd put Romania higher, as I really like how he uses the different languages
4*) I might switch 1 and 2, and I think that the only reason Italy deserves number one is that language fits perfectly. Other than that, Norway definitely

Yes, Italy is my #1, Norway #2 and Estonia #3. All 3 screamed "QUALITY" (and you can guess Montenegro was my #4). By the way, the most energetic song for me was Israel. Many were not qualified because they havedn't had neighbors to vote them! That's a huge problem every year.

One of my favorite years. I am a sucker for well constructed power ballads. My absolutely favorite songs are Norway, Romania, Italy, Belgium, Estonia, Ireland, Czech Republic, Greece, Montenegro, and a well deserved winner from Sweden.
PS. Intereting that you said that France has the most boring ballad, as I find it remarkably similar to their ballad from 2002, which was your 2nd spot, with a matching praising comment. Now, 2002 was one of, if not the worst year of all, so even the best song there wouldn't crack top 10 in 2015, but 38th spot - really? Interesting.

Great list! I disagree with three, though (I still respect your opinion!). Here are my two cents:
(Sweden) I personally think that Måns already knew he was going to win, so he didn't bother to give a good performance. He was GREAT in Melodifestivalen, alright in the 2nd Semi Final and just...bad in the Final, where it counted the most. He had a good song, but his performance did NOT deserve first place.
(Spain) In my list Edurne would've been lower. She was out of breath the entire song, which is unexcusable because she barely even moves. Which is a shame, considering how good the song is.
(Serbia) Bojana was great! Her vocals are quite good, both on stage and in the studio version. Everything about her performance felt right in my opinion.

4:My 1th place. I can't tell you how much I love this song. The music is great with saxophone and horns fitting in, what is from a musical point of view just a „normal“ ballad. The lyrics tell a interesting story. These lyrics are delivered perfectly by their magnificent voices. The staging is chilling and really shows the message of this song. Also Elina is one of the most beautiful women I have every seen!
3:Unpopular opinion: I don't like this song. The vocals hurt my ear and the entire song is not smooth at all. It makes it quit hard to listen to it.
