DO it the rwd just has so much more of a driving ratio balanced between your feet and hands/steering...so many more inputs and opportunities to respond to what the car is saying/feeling. That value and feel is just too fun and the power ratio over the 230i makes it even more worthwhile.
Interesting that this was faster than the awd, I thought xdrive is supposed to be faster. Either one is a good choice though, I test drove the xdrive and it was so fun

X-drive definitely holds this cars character/charactristics and driving dynamics in the street/road. Other than needing snow/capability...IMO owning a 240i RWD or one as a DAILY is by far the better option in almost every way....from a pure driving/driving dynamics perspective the turn/initiate steering feel on the X drive is just too "accelerated" or too nose heavy for the chassis/rear end to ever keep up adequately. Other than that i could see the lack of 6 spd manual or Lack of DCT( not even as a standard but a premium option) keeping some buyers away for the car not fully appealing to the "SPORT" aspect of current criteria or apparent standards....not that the zf8 would keep me out of this platform no doubt a fun car to drive in 230i and 240i rwd. Definitely feel more car/roll/inputs and even engine/speed management from a RWD. The balance of the 230i is 50:50....so in any scenario where both cars are at seemingly top speed/cornering like down hill or a shorter/smaller track that lacks true/high speed acceleration areas...either way id take both RWD over the x-drive for the ease of use/manageability in those mid corner/sweeper/down hill type settings you just feel so much more with the wheel/inputs than X-Drive...and the ability to react/accordingly is much easier vs X-drive. Its 2000$ worth of night and day feeling as far as driving/characteristics. That most ppl that would pay for a crackle tune and see the majority of "VALUE" out of owning/driving this car would get an x-drive if they want to make noise in traffic/fly bys....or straight line off the line speed....other than that...IMO it truly misses the actual value/driving dynamics this chassis/wheelbase has to offer with BMW performance/powertrains. Whats weird about me is i figure the supra deserves an x-drive/option....bc im not a purist...hell even a 4cyl x-drive....ijs from a pure drivers/tuning standpoint i like the idea of all these different options/orientations out on a track setting just genuinely how they would affect balance/handling characteristics.

This is by far the most glowing review of a 2-series coupe I've seen. Most journalists I've watched/read have been disappointed by it, as it's less a sport-luxury coupe and more a luxury-sport coupe. Getting close to ordering an M240 and my dealer keeps trying to talk me into X drive. I live in an area of the country where we do get snow(2-3 months of the year), but I also work from home and wouldn’t have to drive in it on a daily basis (drive about 3-4K a year). My thinking is I should get rear drive especially after seeing this video. Thanks in advance!

„Its early and everyone is still asleep, so we going to use Sport plus“ reaonable decision
8:45 12-13 seconds from 100 -200 in 5th gear? Wow!
This is the peak! Does it have M diff as standard similar to xdrive ?
yes
Why shouldn't you get an m3 with Xdrive? You can disable the FWD with the push of a button but still have it for when you need it in bad weather. I don't really see the downside.....
You still have that extra weight on the axle and the suspension and Chassis is still made for x drive, that button does Not do magic
This is by far the most glowing review of a 2-series coupe I've seen. Most journalists I've watched/read have been disappointed by it, as it's less a sport-luxury coupe and more a luxury-sport coupe. The focus is less on driver engagement nowadays. Also, the ///Marketing in the gauge cluster is laughable. A big ole "M" logo to greet me every time I get in the car, even though I know it's not really a true M product.
without tuning slow car, maybe stage 2+ or 3 makes it worthy attention.
god imagine this thing tuned
can you make a nissan primera 2.0 gt vehicle test video
Amma go for xdrive, but ok🔥
would absolutely have gone RWD if i didn't live in a hilly, rainy area that gets 4 months of winter. oh and it's my only car. lol
(seems more fun, less expensive, etc) No dealers close to me have a rear drive version for me to drive and I was hoping that given that you’ve driven both, you might be able to give me a summary of your impressions/ differences between the driving experience of both? Thanks in advance!
Do not drive car like this in winter. DO NOT. Get a cheap old fiesta/beater whatever for the salt & bad weather.
@@DigitalDissident I’ve driven BMWs (rear drive and AWD) in winter/ snow for years without any issues. They do just fine.
The remove of the gear lever is an absolute crime. Just stupid.
374hp is not a lot nowadays... just think about that. Crazy times we are living in.
Yeah, I have watched so many videos where they just snark at 350-450 hp that I started to think it wouldn’t be anything crazy, until I drove a car with power in that range and was like “damn” lol. It’s definitely not terrifyingly fast but still pretty insane. Of course BMW underrates their cars too so 374 hp is more like 374 whp
RWD better or Xdrive with future stage 2
This engine with a manual on the 2007 M1
I am so glad I got M235 coupe, not a fan of any of these new BMW designs.
Will not be available in minor/lower-order markets like Romania or the UK.
That gear "suggestion" that pops up must be the most annoying bit of interface design I have ever seen! Is that possible to turn off?
damn I want to buy one
how many km did the car have when u tried it ? Maybe you have to do at least 5000km to unlock full top speed ?
No, its always limited to that speed.
@@Errost5 dayum that sucks :(
Is that Portimao Blue?
What's up with that speed thing? Maybe they test/set it on different size tyres - maybe if u have it on non-star tyres perhaps that'll sort it 😉
Agree, that gear-select toggle is crap and fake-exhaust tips awful. Wish u can fully turn-off fake sound too. Front end is indeed nice.
its on all new id8 m performance cars - even the 3 series
Is the new LCI M340i available as a RWD only?
It is not available as RWD at all unless you live in the USA! Only xdrive m340i in Europe…
yes but can you get one in a manual?
no
Disgusting
yea alot more fun if u want 2 end up in a hedge or worse a wall lol!!!
does it get LSD standard?
Yes
nice car but that square screen looks so tacky on the dashboard and seems like an afterthought
Beautiful car
where is the k20 civic??
How much is a car BMW m240i
Bro we need max rv this car
Ps- it was supposed to do 235 in your current configuration
what
so fast
I wish if they make them manual
So how come on I guess you can cell them the “lower end” M models have better front grills than the real M models it’s as if BMW is playing mind games to get you to buy both
The older gen looks so much better imo. Just like the new M3/M4 exterior design its ugly( at least the interior is nice). Whoever makes the new exterior designs that person should be fired.
wheres max?
This car looks like Toyota Celica LEGO version.
Жаль покупать проблематично такие машины)
It will be one of the last😭
👍👍👍👍👍
what's the point of having a 370hp car with 240 top speed ?
An ecu tuned diesel does 230 GPS LMAO
Guess if you only care about speed just get the m240i. If you care about handling as well, obviously get the m2.
Greetings, m240i f23 owner.
I don’t know why but i think the gen1 b58 sounds better.
no opf
This car just needs a Straight Pipe
These get uglier with every new version! 🤦♂️
Nah mate, the one before was an ugly blob. This one, so low, so muscular is a magnificent car. Also a lot of classic BMW design ideas.
It's a magnificently beautiful car by any definition. Unlike most BMWs...
Where manual
I can't express how much I hate BMW's new gauge cluster design (or total lack /abandonment of one).
That giant flat screen with sharp corners is so ugly.
Great car but the design is just so ugly. I would go for a used M2C or M340ix modded as yours.
Thought this was a myth only 😮
First ❤
this car is only 49k usd here. soo cheap.
