So now you can build a TNT cannon to launch a payload through a nether portal, and as long as your aim is true and the airborn time is greater than the portal cool down time, come out *another* nether portal.
That sounds terrifying and incredible.
The fuse time of a TNT is 4 seconds, and the entity cooldown for going through a nether portal is 15 seconds. You would have to find some way of extending the fuse time for that to work.
@@randomcarbonaccumulation6478 If you use enough TNT you can get something flying for more than 15 seconds, granted travel distance will be high enough to limit uses
as long as nether terrain doesn't get in the way
somebody already designed a tnt cannon that has shoots hundreds of tnt up to 10000 block away in the owerworld

I think the mace nerfs are quite justifiable overall, but I think they nerfed the attack speed a little too much. It’s practically impossible to chain attacks with the Wind Burst enchantment now, which was the entire point of it. I don’t think it should go back to 1.6, but I think there’s a middle ground somewhere

I think they overnerfed it big time. Stone sword damage and slow ass attack speed on top of making you pick between enchantments. It cannot compete with a diamond sword anymore, let alone Netherite.
It really wasn't justifiable at all. It was only OP in super situational settings that 99% of players could never pull off and now it's worthless inventory clutter

the OP version of the mace is the type of "very valuable gear" i'd expected would be in the Deep Dark, but instead the Ancient City loot chests are full of random trinkets and nothing really powerful

@@kate_isawesome1207 you can replace the entire sound event in sounds.json (on java edition) or sound_definitions.json (on bedrock edition). this allows you to change what sound files are used for an event or even add your own custom ones to play using commands. the format is somewhere on the wiki. i think the cave sound event is called minecraft:ambient.cave

I love the new ambient noises! One time,i was playing DnD and someone turned on the minecraft cave noises, we were doing a creepy false hydra moment and the cave noises played perfectly after our DM said something about disembodied children singing.
I don't know why you said it MIGHT make us say the mace has been nerfed, because "nerf" is a literal term for something that was made weaker.
I think he's saying that it might've been nerfed too much, while I think it isn't the case
@@shadowlemon69it's been nerfed way too much, why would anyone try to get something that basically does nothing special in regards to damaging most mobs except extremely situational situations of killing bosses which you'd need to build like 50+ blocks to oneshot, I don't understand why they nerfed it to hell, and then make it rare, why add it then? If practically no one uses it.
@thetele8646 Because it would be the only thing used in many PvP situations otherwise. If a weapon is strong, there should be something else to make sure other weapons could still be useful. Besides, trial chambers are arguably not the hardest area to go in the game

I can’t find it but there used to be a fan made cave sound called “Someone else” and it played the sounds of someone breaking blocks and picking up xp. It was really creepy and cool and I wish I could find it again.

Piercing is the most underrated enchantment in the game.
I think the mace changes were complete overkill and they should revert the attack speed. One or two of the nerfs would have been reasonable, but gutting the enchantments AND the fallen block damage AND the attack speed is just too much.
Maces attack speed nerf is justified because breach exists(unless breach was changed to ONLY ignore 60% armor protection after falling a certain height)
Not to mention they nerfed the base damage to 5... theres no reason to choose this over a sword like at all
@bradleywoods3742 the mace was literaly never made to replace swords at all and even now the mace still is the strongest weapon in the game
@@lazarpetrovic1671 Where did I say that maces were gonna replace swords? I meant that there is virtually no situation where maces are better than swords, before the mace was fun, perhaps a little op, and now with the cooldown and various damage reductions it is less fun and moderately good.

as a datapack developer I can confidently say that the food thing will be very useful to many of us in the community
first thing that comes to mind is eating custom items, previously it was very difficult to detect when you ate a custom food source, which meant that, for the most part, custom foods wouldnt do much other than give a custom nutrition & saturation value. But now we can have it be replaced with an item such as a knowledge book with custom nbt data
this nbt data is a lot easier to detect than the action of eating a custom item allowing us to do things like making custom explosive berries that actually explode when you eat them.
ofc it will also be useful for adventure maps
Mace is one of those updates that is fun to play when the update drop but quickly will be forgot and people will have it just to have it.

The mace nerfing was definitely justified, but I feel as if they've curbed it way too hard. The Density enchantment specifically is kinda worthless now, barely even noticeable, and the reconfiguring of damage added when fallen instead of it being a steady increase per tile is just too much. Heck, you can't even kill a kitted out player by falling from *50 whole blocks* at this point I'm pretty sure, let alone things like iron golems. I think Density should have gone from 3>1 instead of 3>0.5, the new state of it is just pathetic. The mutual exclusivity of Density and Breach is a cool change though.
I think I can safely say that Xisuma's original idea of it giving extra durability loss for every block fallen would've been the perfect nerf.
remember there are 5 levels. The top level went from 15>2.5
density literally adds 2.5 damage per block, which turns into 3.75 from a crit. remember that 0.5 is per level
Have you actually tested it out in the latest snapshot yourself?
Density actually went from 1 to 0.5, I think Xisuma confused it with the base increase from before this snapshot. They essentially nerfed Density by 50%
It’s so weird that the metric for how good the mace is seems to be how far you have to fall before X dies in one hit. Does no one realize that outside this specific case, the mace is even more niche than a trident? Would anybody care to bring this weapon around even pre nerf?
IMO, the mace desperately needs buffs to its ground game so that it’s not just a party trick you do once and forget.

I was hoping they purposely made the mace op so people would actually use it, crossbow and trident are cool but aren't good enough to replace swords and bows
I use the trident almost solely as elytra fuel nowadays because trident+rain+elytra is actually crazy broken, but yeah aside from that I don’t use tridents or crossbows as weapons ever.

The first two new caves sounds are scary af. Imagine hearing those deep down while caving.
The mace now does the same base damage as a stone sword and takes like 4x as long to attack with. That pretty much seals it as a gimmick that isn't viable as a main weapon unless you're actively using its falling attack
You also now have to fall 482 blocks to kill the warden with it, instead of 99 blocks like before.
I think they need to make it slightly more op again

@@theopendoorevold mace with breach did more damage per second than a maxed sword with its basic attack due to the 60% armor reduction and thats not even talking about how the mace could straight up one shot a maxed player from only a 4 block fall
@@theopendoorev A wind charge and a fully enchanted mace could one hit a protection 4 Netherite player, it really did need a nerf. Still, I have to try it before I really commit to this, but these nerfs make it look pretty useless in most situations.

It feels like they used the original mace features to build hype after community dissatisfaction and now closer to the update they pulled the rug. Whole trial chamber experience seems unimportant again

Nah, wind charges still exist and that's not talking about other parts of the community that like trims, pots or just a challenge + old mace was literaly so op you'd be doing more damage per second with your basic attack than a maxed sword because breach ignores 60% armor aswell as having the same reload speed as a sword
@@lazarpetrovic1671 wind charges will be fun for a month. They didn't need all these changes at the same time. We've needed something exciting for non redstoners this update and it's no longer exciting. I wouldn't choose this over a sword now

I think it's kind of a shame the copper bulb has a sound now. It was great for making silent t flip flops, but now Redstone contraptions will have more clicking sounds
I will really miss the mace wind charge pogo you could do with old attack speed, it was the coolest thing I've ever experienced in minecraft, I even started thinking about using mobs as a part of the parkour

I know the mace seemed op before, but you have to go out of your way and fight your way through I difficult trial chamber to get it. Even in its op state, most players would simply stick with swords for simplicity. But now that it’s nerfed absolutely no one will use it. In 5 years it’ll be in those “top ten features you forgot were in Minecraft” videos

Fire Aspect lighting candles, and even moreso campfires, is a really fun and potentially useful mechanic!
Now what if it could light Nether Portals and TNT too?😅
The Nether Portal bit could be really nice given that flint for flint&steel can be overly grindy to get at times and tends to require ripping up the terrain.
Also, fire aspect actually affecting blocks now has some fun implications for theatrical things to do with redstone as well as mapmaking.
The mace slow reload looks like the Player is ready to attack the mobs with his/her mace.
The sad thing is now I’ll prolly be using the trident more than the mace ever, it’s way more niche to be falling that high to attack than just throwing out an arrow or trident and hitting them with my sword or trident next. I understand the balance but just my take, just way too niche for me to grind into a trial chamber for I’d rather just farm a bunch of wind charges

I was really hoping for an axe upgrade finally with the hammer, but I guess axe it is still. Maybe someday we will get an axe upgrade with a special effect that isnt pvp exclusive basically.

It was absolutely too powerful before, but with its current stats, I would rather use an iron sword than the mace. Unless you have a stack of breeze charges, and even then, you probably won’t be doing much damage.
I have a superflat no structures single player world and have been so sad that there is no way to make a flint and steel to light candles, and now that fire aspect can do it I am SO EXCITED! 😁😁 access to another light source when you have so few materials such a welcome change!

There could be a "Lightweight" enchantment that makes the Mace's attack speed quicker, maybe, could potentially be interesting to see it's old speed, and even beyond, be able to be re-applied through enchantments
i hope there's a vanillatweaks to make the mace as powerful as it was before, i doubt i'd ever use it because it's so hard to get but the more powerful version seemed like fun to mess around with

The problem with the philosophy of Mojang’s decision on the mace imo is it doesn’t lean into progression. They made a decent step forward with netherite and smithing template, but I feel like making the Mace a strong tool would be smart given the 2.2% spawn rate in trial chambers. It would feel like a true reward for players going out of their way to raid multiple trial chambers.

I think they nerfed the mace too much. Without wind charges, it would be really hard to regularly make use of the added falling damage. Maybe they could make it so falling from the height a wind charge can send you is reduced, but falling farther than that quickly becomes really strong?
That cow issue has been a long time coming, it's almost like I need to make sure this isn't a dream.

I know the nerf will came but i don't expect it will this hard, i don't mind the damage and the enchantment but the atk speed is so slow.
Never saw the cow issue before (year or so ago) but it cropped up like mad last month or so when coming back
Was also oddly struggling to feed cows in a 1x1, wonder if something changed to their specific.. things, to make that happen

I would love if they kept the sword interaction with furnace tbh. it would be very nice to be able to light a furnace only aesthetically for builing reasons or as a light source, so it could see more use as a decorative block instead of only being a utility block. Many utility blocks are already used as decor, and it would be a cute little niche that the furnace could fill as a texture or decor block that could also act as a light source
They also notably fixed a few tremendous bugs with enchantments so sharpness type enchantments, effect applying enchantments, and enchantments that run commands in dimensions besides the overworld now actually work as expected.
I think they honestly might be overdoing it with the mace nerfs, like I get it was REALLY powerful but at least it felt worth to get, now I genuinely don't see myself going for it as an axe will just be better 90% of the time

I think that nerfing the attack speed was a little excessive. Now it just looks sluggish and hits like a wet noodle.
For insight about the mace damage fall-off:
. From 2-10 blocks, the new mace with fall-off does more damage
. From more than 10 blocks, the old mace with no fall-off does more damage
I don't understand why they make the Mace damage depend on fall distance. It should depend on velocity. That way it can deal decent damage from a 10 block fall without instakillimg bosses from 100 since velocity increases with the square root of fall distance.
Probably so you can't use rockets to get instant speed and attack.

I feel like they made the mace attack speed way too slow, it reminds me that they really need to add the combat test anapshot changes that made weapon attack speed actually pretty fast and doesn't make you have to wait a whole second for missing an attack
Rip the mace. It was fun while it lasted.
We needed the mace as it was to equalize PVP, netherite broke PVP and turned it into a slog, and caused massive snowballing and forced the use of things like ender crystals to compensate which was not the intended use case and is a sub-optimal use in PVP so they often have to be spammed.
The old Mace fixed all of that! The new mace ain't even worth the effort to acquire!
From what I've heard, a wind charge + fully enchanted mace was previously enough to one hit a player wearing prot 4 full netherite. I don't think mojang should be focusing on crystal pvp at all since it's fine as is, so this nerf (except for the cooldown increase fuck that) is completely justified
@@danielrosales221 It went from too op from basically worthless. It could be balanced, where fully enchanted mace with wind charge should be viable enough alternative to a fully enchanted netherite sword, or maybe you could combo it with a sword, but now it is not worth the grind.

I'm not saying I agree with all they do, but all I'm saying is that this nerf is _not making the mace any more useless, it just requires more skill._
The real damage nerf comes from enchant incompatibility-and even then, it's still really powerful. Powerful enough to one shot a full netherite player with a wind charge albeit without protection.
The nerfs in base damage is negligible in smash attacks since the damage boosts there are additive, and the reduced damage the more you fall is only like to prevent players from one shotting bosses and the warden because most times you aren't gonna be falling from more than say 5 blocks. Wind burst is more to just make it less annoying to use the mace in enclosed spaces and fix the unintentional wither cheese, and slow attack speed is really the only thing I have a gripe with.
I don't think the mace should be a competitor to the netherite sword since it's so unique in its functions that I feel it was made as more of a complement like a bow, but based on terrain instead of distance. As long as you have the height advantage, the mace easily becomes one of the most destructive weapons out there, easily wreaking havoc on the health of whoever you hit it with. It's a high-risk, high-reward weapon with a high skill ceiling, and I'm fine with it as it currently stands.

Yeah as much as I loved the mace I think they nerfed it a bit too much, which is fine, but in return they should make it easier to get since its not nearly as powerful

@@Makoprimanah you have to be much higher up now to do at least decent damage. It's practically only useful for like one time if you're lucky enough to be 40 blocks in the air.
