- Justin Abdelkader's goal with 18.9 seconds left in the third period broke a 1-1 tie and gave Michigan State the 2007 NCAA Men's Hockey championship over Boston College.
Brian Boyle scored in the second period to put BC up 1-0. Tim Kennedy tied it midway through the third period, and Chris Mueller added an empty-net goal with 1.2 seconds remaining. - Спорт

heartbreaking loss for BC, they got it back this year though. these are 2 of my favorite NCAA hockey programs.
In a 7 game series, my money would have been on BC. Schneider
would have outplayed Lerg in a series but its one game winner take all and Lergwas great.
Boyle buries that more than likely BC wins.
Best group of unbiased annoucers ever.

I remember watching this in person when I was 8/9 years old, this team was stacked and the reason I’m a mich st fan for all of their sports

I ran into the team at the bar and went back to a party they had and the game was on constant repeat..it was hilarious, congratulations, GO GREEN!

This was the best hockey team in 2007. My cousin played for MSU when this happened. It was beast.
My sons linemate in a public Massachusetts HS, played with
Kennedy in the USHL.
Thus game was considered an upset as BC was considered to have an advantage in net with Schneider. Lerg had a great game
besting Schneider and winning the title.
My money absolutely would have been on BC in a 7 game series but they don't do that in College hockey.
Hardcore Michigan fan here but I must give props to MSU for representing the state and CCHA well.

I remember rushing home from work and catching the 3rd period of this game. 3 kids from the neighborhood won it, Kennedy, Ratchuk and Mueller (around the block in West Seneca)

I am a U of M fan but this game is great and we root for our Michigan teams.
+H0ckey K1ller It's one thing I enjoy about State of Michigan Hockey....unless they are playing each other for the most part we all pull for Michigan schools. I'm thankful for Michigan giving Detroit Larkin at the moment LOL...and I don't say thank you to Michigan to often!

State of Michigan produced some really good players in that era.
Kesler (Livonia), Hunwick (Sterling Hts), Wisniewski (Canton) won Gold on US Jr Team in '04 and
Hensick, Potter and Hub sick beat
Russia with Ovi\Malkin\Radulov Emelin and Khodobin in Rd of
'05 WJC.
I'm from Massachusetts but Michigan produces great hockey.
Hellebuyck (Commerce),
Werenski(Grosse Pointe),
Larkin (Waterford), and Connor (Shelby Township) will be on
'26 Olympic Team.

I still have scars from listening to this game on the radio. Those old school sharp textured ceilings and straight up fist pump jump.. Not a good combo lmao. But I don't regret a single drop that was spilled 😂

I'm a diehard Michigan fan, and I hate OSU and MSU will all my heart. However that is pretty awesome how they won it in the last 30 seconds like that.

Go state, I remember that game and how the 3 stars of the game came to my school's carnival (Bennett Woods Elementary) in okemos Michigan a suburb of Lansing, also the players who came were very nice and let me get autographs and a picture of them and let me hold the trophy or at least touch it.

Jeff Lerg was actually my girlfriends roomate's boyfriend. We drank many a night together. Couldn't meet a more humble and awesome person. I hope he gets to play for the Devils one of these days.
I don't get all the flame in the comments. I bleed Maize and Blue, but I will still root for the Spartans as long as they aren't playing Michigan. We all know people that are fans of the other side. Cant we still root for another team in the same state?

Could have been from any of a number of maroon and gold teams. Minnesota or Duluth are likely.

It's always fun to watch BC lose. Plus MSU had done something my favorite team(UND) hasn't been able to do for the past 2 years and that is beat BC(hopefully we'll get revenge when we play against them at there place for the 2007-2008 season). Anyways I can't wait for the season to start and nothing gets better than the Fighting Sioux host the defending national champs for the first game of the season!
