I love the shape of the cherry platter. I would use that as a fruit bowl, as o never have one shallow or wide enough. The cherry design on the back is adorable! I enjoy having the underneath of a piece giving an unexpected surprise. Adding a 3D effect to the large cherries could add to the overall design even further. Confused how you put your mosaic pieces in the glaze fire but are still yet to glaze? Interesting project and looking forwards to seeing that progress. Your bee dish is georgous! The honeycomb texture underneath mixed with smooth is georg! Super super cute Bee! Your drawing skills are great, i don't know why you're knocking them. Lovely Bee! I am really liking your mix of glaze inside versus raw clay outside and texture, with added glaze highlights on the dip bowls. Really adds to the overall effect. Beautiful! Fab to see the jungle Gems results! ADORE your large chip bowl! The texture on the bottom especially! Your Lady and her friends are a fabulous series, with so much sass! Im seeing raw clay for the face and arms, maybe a matt underglaze for rosy cheeks? Glossy hair, metallic necklace and bracelet and the dress a base colour with a running glaze combo over, top 2/3rds, more organic flowing. Or a poka dot dress even? Im sure whatever you do it will be fab-u-lous! Cant wait to see the results! Keep up the amazing work Xxx
Ahhh thankyou Jeanette, I am putting jungle jems on the mosaic pieces that I had in thr glaze fire so they will go back through the next bisque, it was just so they shrink the same as the other pieces. Good idea to make the curry plate a fruit bowl it would work well. Great ideas for the lady too, bare would be nice for her arms and face I agree. I should have ladies 3, 4 and 5 in the next load hopefully. Although they may be all that is in it. Xxx
Hey Julia I picked up a plate today with the same foot as your cherry plate and I said I have never seen one like that ....now I have seen two ! love the little bowls and the little Jug but 'rose quartz" is notorious for running. The chip and dip bowl is exquisite !!!! And yes if you highlight the cherries they will appear more 3D and done quite easily with a partial white rounded line and a dot. xoxo
Hey Julia, love the shape of your cherry bowl/plate, love the placement of the cherries and the little cherries on the back. I think some shading or highlight or both would help🍒 Love the bee bowl. The honeycomb patterns is yummy Love the shape of your belly mug Your chip n dip bowl is stunning. Pearl necklace noooo 😂 I think you have to wait till you decide on the body colour but like the sound of mirror. Looking forward to seeing her finished. Great upload. 😍
Thankyou lovely, I love the plate shape too, such a shame it is warped, will try with a slab. I know Nat had me in stitches with the pearl necklace 🤣 Yes I shall wait to decide on her colour first, before co ordinating with her jewellery 😄 xx
Ohhh Julia, that big cherry plate does me remember my childhood. My mum had a big plate / bowl on the wall, and only once a year my dad took it off from the wall so that my mum could put her home made potato salmon salad in it for new years eve, that memorie stays with me. Your cherrie plate makes me think of it again..... ♡ 😊 Haha, Sheila from the Netherlands, You did a shout out. Your so sweet Julia, thank you ♥ A hand drawn bee, and you say you're not an artist? Wow Julia you can draw so nice!!! That bee bowl is very pritty. 🐝 🍯 The last chips bowl with the moonlandscape on the back is gorgeous, what a colours. The 2 dip bowls are fitting so so well. The lady vase, thinking of Hawaii.... all those summer flower colours maybe? Or for winter time, a snow ice queen maybe? Or for Sangria wine, the sangria and fruity colours..... you come up with something and its always nice, you have a feel for colours. I'm looking forward for your next video. Have a wonderfull day Julia. Greetz from Sheila from over the pond 😂 👋 ♥ XX
Hi Sheila, so lovely to hear from you, thankyou for your kind comments, I am so happy that you got such a beautiful memory from my cherry plate. I knew you would watch so wanted to shout out to you. All of your colour combos sound great! I love them all! She would look amazing with Hawaii colours. I love the icy colours idea too and the fruity, too many to choose from. Sheila I know you don't have Instagram, do you have Facebook/messenger? It would be nice to chat to you without having to go through the comments 😊 xx
The jungle jems are low fire so that may be what ran on your little jug. Usually rose quartz is stable. I’ve found using 2 coats doesn’t cause the bubbling issues. The jungle gems and elements glazes also change colors at cone 6. They can change quite a bit too. The plate that your poured looks a little thin. If you want to pour it again just let it get a bit thicker and slow it to get pretty stiff before you take it out so it doesn’t warp. Allow the plate to sit in the front part of the mold and not where the hole is so while it sits and hardens it won’t crack. I absolutely LOVE THE CHIP BOWL!!! I made a similar shaped bowl but the bowl part is way too deep. I love how you put the dots on the outside and colored them in,very creative!!! The female vase is so sassy with those hands on her hip! Lol. I would maybe put a dress on her? Leave the skin bare clay? I can’t wait to see what you do. I have been wanting to make some ladies as well but I’m no sculptor and my drawing is around a 5th grader!! Hahaha
Hi Michele, I bought the jungle jems to experiment with them at cone 6 knowing they are low fire but can go upto 6, I wanted to see what they are capable of after seeing Nat at mud magic play with them. The plate doesn't feel thin it's about 6 mm which is what I would slab build to, it's such a weird shape though so not sure I want to slip cast it again, it's not clear where to cut it. I will have a playwith slab though, thankyou for your advice 😊 I'm a bit obsessed with colouring the little craters in, started with the blue one in kiln opening 29, might try some other colours with it too 😊 xx
@@ceramicsbyjulia8552Slip casting flat things is a bit different because it’s a bit harder to stay flat. Thats why I suggested to pour a little thicker. The slabs would work really well of course.
Julia, you are such a talented lady and a pleasure to watch when you have a Kilm opening you I am watching you while sitting in front of my fire as it is very chilly here this morning in the Hunter Valley New South Wales Australia
The chip and dip bowl is so amazing! I love it. To give the cherries some depth mix some black into the red you used and put that on the shadow side. Then add a little white to the red and put that on the side that is the direction the light is coming from. (Just pick a side of the plate to have the direction of the light come from.) Add the white and black in small amounts until you get a slight color change. You don't want the colors too different. And you could add a white spot for light reflection on the lighter side.
@@ceramicsbyjulia8552 Yes, it is! There's so many beautiful glazes now, and so many gorgeous colors. When I first started making pottery, we just had a few colors to choose from. ♥♥😘
Hey Julia oh yay watching in my lunch break!! I think the cherries def need shading or highlight. I find adding black or white to yr red works well so u r not getting a stark contrast. I think u will love it. The mini cherries r so cute. Love the warping it looks intentional. Love the bee bowl so cute!! Ohhh the pink dips r beautiful suspense for the chip bowl lol. Well done on the rose quartz I’ve given up on it! Oh how I love pink pixie! Sprinkles for crystals I love that! Some jungle gems will burn out at 6. Mayco site shows low n midfire difference. Omgggg that pink chip bowl is glorious!!! I looove it!! Love the dots on the back. I like both so u can put sundried tomato’s or salsa or pickled onion etc in 2nd bowl. I want to try to alter a wheel thrown bowl to that shape. Hahaha yeah pearl necklace noooo you could do black pearls with mirror or obsidian or metal or something. Can’t wait to see marg finished lol. Lovely unload xx
Hi Nat, thankyou for your kind words and helpful advice, I will have a go. I'm calling the jungle jems spinkles as they are smaller than the regulat chips and it sounds cute, I love the pink pixie too, will have a look at mayco website. Hahaha yes that was the necklace I knew someone would know why I was laughing so much 😄 xx
