More snake oil. First, the rivers and lakes most tropicals come from is pretty soft and has little GH. Next, if you are using RO water because your tap is too hard, and you want to restore some GH then.. drum roll.....maybe add some of your tap back into it? My God! What a concept! Maybe somebody should tell this guy that buffer is actually baking soda. I will sell you a box for $15.
So here in Phoenix Az water is hard with high TDS. LFS recommends using RO or RODI for fresh water tank. Wouldn't this product work best rather using tap water with high TDS? Would this product get you more consistent water since tap water can vary a lot?
Hi Scott. Obviously you don’t deal with customer or water chemistry. While I appreciate your humor water chemistry is a huge issue in maintaining the health of an aquarium. GH is actually very important for the health of plants and inverts. Most tap waters are very deficient in GH. Some tap waters are full of nitrite and other things that maybe people don’t want to use and use RO water. Yes baking soda will increase KH. Then you can use a product like equilibrium to increase the GH. Thank goodness you are smarter than everyone else on the planet and really you don’t need to watch UA-cam other than to put people down. For the rest of us there are products out there that take the guesswork out of restoring RO water. Btw there are plenty of stores that never educated people on the dangers of using straight RODI water on a fw aquarium. So this video is to help folks out.
I used the API test kit and had to add 20 drops for kh and 28 drops for gh to get the color change. I want to have a planted male guppy endler or neocaridina shrimp aquarium. I think that my water is too hard for either. If I used 1/2 well water and 1/2 distilled it would still be to hard?
Hi. Ok that’s a good start. So for starters livebearers like a KH between 4-6. Neo shrimp like it 2-4. So that is usually not a great mix. I would recommend getting RODI water from a local aquarium store and doing a 1 part tap to 3 parts RODI water and checking the KH and GH. Always use the dechlorinator.
Hi, i dont have the instructions with me now, so follow what says on the packaging. Also for everyone, always double check with a kh test after its dissolved to make sure the kh is right.
Simple is the best way for me , and the best of the many that I can have is Brightwell for the non noticeable difference in my fish . I have a school of Cory cats in all my aquariums and seeing how they can let me know right away..... I better give it a water change and w/ out fail in my case everything is all back to normal Cory cruising & keeping the Carib Sea Torpedo beach pristine !!! Thank you for the usual solid info and I will have to order some of Fritz RO for the high quality h20 !!!!🩵💙

Correct.
I have rock hard well water, will this work with distilled water? I have a 10 gallon aquarium not set up yet and trying to figure out what to do.
Great question. What is your GH and KH out of the tap? Do NOT measure PH.
