I don't know, if this is not the best job to do, then it's one of the best in the world, been TGV driver.
Best TGV cab ride video I've seen so far.
Yes, let's drive a train with shitty design specs with paint flaking off. Because that'll make you feel good.
I love how well explained this is, step by step. Really well made.
Also, I feel sorry for the bird.
Sabrinalovric sabrinalovric battery catering carbon cabin to Luxembourg 3 days via Kings Cross buy Eurostar how much! How much will cost the journey staying on a train for 3 days menus at la carte a cabin to sleeping stain on the train no hotel can you please send me information?
The unfortunate bird was a magpie (35:08)
Love and light for ms. Magpie!
I counted 3 bird strikes...
It's *worse* with passenger jets - where it happens with scary scary regularity - and FAR worse with military aircraft - where it is even MORE common.
Interesting to observe that trains are driving on the right in Netherlands and on the left side in Belgium and how the track infrastructure at the south of Rotterdam make this alternation possible without any rail crossing.
@Haagse Snorlax True. but Belgium has already a lot of km of high-speed train lines compared to the size of the country (4 lines)
@Haagse Snorlax but there is a high speed section between Mechelen and Brussels now. Also, did you see how DENSE that area is?
Even better:
Trains in most of France drive on the left, but trains in Alsace-Lorraine, the region of France once occupied by Germany, drive on the right just like in Germany itself.
So throughout the East of France there these under-and-over flying junctions called "Sauts de moutons", where tracks go under and over each other to change sides!
@Haagse Snorlax to make it more confusing, regional trains in France drive on the left, but the Metro in Paris drive on the right, and Belgium used to be part of France which is why they too run on the left
@@thesteelrodent1796 Correction: Belgium was Dutch territory. Nowadays it serves as a sort of neutral zone if you will.
Wieder angesehen und noch immer SUPER! Mit den besten Grüssen aus Österreich!
31:13 A train overtaking cars. That’s a beautiful sight. Wish this technology was everywhere.
@O.G Autistler but the poster of this comment is spanish and my answer was addressed to him 🙄
@@e.d.gproductions7989 The comment was in English. There's not a single person who says responding in a different language isn't rude.
@@therealdutchidiot ok that was litterally a year ago
@@e.d.gproductions7989 How on eath does that invalidate just a single thing? The video itself was from 4 years ago.
By far, this is the best quality high speed cab ride video, I've seen on UA-cam. Added to my favorite rail playlist. Warm Regards from India !!
@Ben Chuft While that may be true in some contexts seeing the different signalling systems at work is a thing of beauty.
At 49:55 you can see the point where the HS line switches from right-hand to left-hand running. The long white viaduct on our left is carrying the other track over the one we are on. After they both dive under other tracks in the corridor and return to the surface, at 50:38, the other track is on our right.
Is there a reason why it changes?
@@joeannias6557
The line passes from the region of right-hand running to that of left-hand running. The Netherlands, like Germany, runs on the right; Belgium, like France, runs on the left.
At some border crossings they cross on the flat (usually at a border station). And some border crossings are on a single track. Neither option is good for high-speed lines.
on the line between Germany and France the rare Hamburg-Paris ICE has to go through switches at 200-250 km/h to switch sides, which is pretty wild, but surprisingly stable, and just another issue they have to deal with along with the switch from 15 KV in Germany to 25 KV in France
@@thesteelrodent1796 and the switch in train control systems as well, almost every country has their own system and installing multiple systems on a train is quite expensive.
I love the sound of this train! I go to sleep with it at night! Great ride into my dreams!
Thanks for the ride. I enjoyed the journey from Amsterdam to Bruxelles Midi. 300 km/h is so fast.
I travelled on Thalys last summer and loved the journey. Thanks for bring back some great memories.
Ohne Fahrkarte, und die beste Aussicht. Immer wieder schön, mit euch mitzufahren. Gruß Hans aus dem Mühlviertel in Oberösterreich.👍
Great upload, thank you.
Great cab ride, thank you very much, excellent explanations (stations, speed restrictions).
Great video. Thanks for posting. As an Australian who wishes he could afford to travel, this is the next best thing 😁
Great video! Thanks very much!
Top vídeo👏👏👏😎🍻
Thanks For Sharing!!! Dankeschön!!!
Großes Lob auch von mir. Besser kann man eine Führerstandsmitfahrt kaum machen! Daumen hoch!
This is the stuff of dreams, must have more! Well Done.
Great ride. Wish we had them here!
Very Good Video Thanks for the cabin travel
Every day I go to work I still get great pleasure from seeing the cars on the motorway from the train and then overtaking them with a large speed difference (even without traffic jams) 😜
Great video !!
Brilliant enjoyed it....
Thanks for great video. Had no idea there were so many control authority and voltage changes!

Wunderbar!!!
great video mate very big like and sub.
The 7 km long tunnel just after the airport direction Rotterdam is the so called the greenheart tunnel what is above it green fields for cattle👍😉
The airport, ok. I was wondering why they had a tunnel in the middle of nowhere from what i could tell. It's the airport, thank you. Makes sense.
Super!👍
Nice videos
Why Is the catenary post in the Belgium high speed lines the same as France's high speed catenary post?
Oh whew, I convinced someone to explore another city with me. The only thing I said was, it's about an hour train ride away. She's going to be surprised about the destination. :D
1:25:05 I grew up here. (Greetings from Miami, FL...)
Wunderbar! Liebe Grüße aus Brasilien! :)
Aus Deutschland zurück
Sehr schön.
This train accelerates better than space shuttle! And flies better, too!!!
Thanks for the great movie. 1:51:57 is a deja vu for me: the TGV to Lille which you should be able to catch is just departing from the other side of the same platform.....
Brilliant video! Love mainland european trains. So much better than the rundown railway in the UK.
Very good. Saudações do Brasil.
I didn't realize this was being presented in real time, no narration.
Je suis déjà là que ce TGV
einfach Klasse
Super Mitfahrt Daumen nach Oben
Thanks, I like how the tunnel lights alternate, is that on purpose?
Echt SUPER!
35:05 oh no :(
It's okay, the bird is in the God's hands by now.
A Dutch bird no problem.
So, Amsterdam - Paris Nord would be around 3 hours and 15-20 minutes normally, right?
Yeah, if you travel from Schiphol Airport it takes 3 hours and if you travel from Rotterdam it takes 2h38m.
@@ig1759 thanks :)
Brussels house and apartment prices are 3 times cheaper than Paris, 100,000 lucky French people already live in Brussels, great for teleworking and the icing on the cake one hour by train with Thalys Paris to Brussels and two hours from Brussels to London .
Hello Mr! Will there be a continuation of the video clip from Brussels to Paris North by Thalys train?
Bogdan Zahariev the drivers from The Netherlands don,t drive all the way to paris the is a personel switch in brussel
😮300 km/h MY GOD. 186 miles per hour. Daaaaaaaum!!!!
Bom viajar de 🚆
I noticed what appeared to be a couple of regular Dutch trains on the high speed line. Where are these going? They have the ability to change to the differing voltage just like the Thalys?
The regular train is the ''Intercity Direct'' who travels between Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Breda vice versa. Vmax is 160km/h for those. They can change to 25kV too. The next generation of ''Intercity Direct'' (year 2021) can go up to Vmax 200km/h. They will share the High Speed Line with the Thalys TGV. The time schedule will let enough space between the faster one and the slower ones.
TGV trains sound so relaxing. Reminds me of when I took the Thalys from Rotterdam to Paris - slept like a baby.
Nice! What is the train or heading number of this train?
Next time when you are arrived at Brussels , Can you keep the camera lower, and it will be fun if you can turn the camera around so you you have an overview to Gare Bruxelles South/Midi . Thank you!!
The Netherlands portion was best. The second camera was a genius thought. About 30 minutes lost in Belgium due to voltage changes, signalling changes and speed restrictions, its almost as if the don't like high speed trains. :(
The problem in Belgium is the section between Antwerp and Brussels: that's not a high speed line, but a classic line in the progress of being upgraded to ETCS. That's why trains need to switch between ETCS and the classic TBL(+) in some sections.
South of Brussels, after the point where this video ends, the Thalys takes the exising HSL to Paris, which is equipped with the French TVM-430 system on both sides of the border.
That isn't quite true - Belgium has 4 high-speed lines, which is a lot for a small country. The Netherlands only has 1.
Great that you have the explanation of whats happening. Question - what is the top speed and how long does it take to stop?
The top speed is 300 km/h. That is the permitted maximum speed on the high-speed line
Dat was leuk.
That smoking chimney on the right at 14:19 is a energy/electricity powerplant, but closed down a few weeks ago.
Too bad it is.
I like how this video was made into almost a tutorial. Pity not whole the dash is allowed to be shown, like in a simulator game like Train Sim World, but still nice with all the annotations!
Great video. But now 3-4 years later youtube degraded image quality badly. Also, the Belgian-part of the high speed line (HSL) is a big disappointment, since there is no HSL at all from north of Antwerp until Brussels! It's about time to make it go 300 km/h between Antwerp and Brussels too.
I never log in. I never comment. This forced me to. So very well done. I only wish us, Americans, could learn from this. People are people. Stupid is stupid. There is no reason this country cannot have at least limited rail like this. Oh well. C'est la vie. Very well done..
Heb je ook een filmpje van brussel-zuid naar Amsterdam-centraal
how are the slower trains also allowed to go on the high speed line? Wouldn't it risk a train getting rear-ended?
Amei fazer essa viagem aqui no youtube kk lindo.
👍👍
Hurrah! the driver has cleaned the windscreen….a bit…!
Szyba czysta, tor czysty, krajobrazy ładne, kamerę 20 cm do przodu
5:30 the Excavator beats the TGV xD
Still on the non-revenue part of the trip, from railroad yard to first station, so there were no passengers aboard to whitness that.
These trains are a bit tiny for a being of a height of 185 cm, but I always enjoyed the ride from Bruxelles to Paris.
TGV's were absolute dogshit even for their time. And the Thalys lines uses refurbished stock. Make of that what you will.
ANOTHERE ONE
i like tgv is very comfortable
😍
🌷
Can you please explain what ' neutral section' means?
The non-electrified line section between two different AC power grids. It is used to prevent arcing.
@@Santibag Also used to prevent too many trains on the same section
This is so interesting. But at 1:11:13 the video says "end of ETCS" authority for the section of the track. Does that mean you have to coast the entire time, because trains aren't monitored in that area? That part really confused me and left me really curious.
Approaching the end of a ETCS movement authority (MA) is the equivalent of approaching a red signal, so you just need to expect to stop at the point indicated. The train still would be monitored and if you pass the end of authority without another MA, you will get tripped to a stop. (At least that’s how I’ve understood ETCS)
The train already had a green signal with the sign of 40kph, but the Thalys and Eurostar get a seperate signal through ETCS on the tunnel to the approach to Antwerp-Central station. The reason is that the tunnel has a cunstruction mistake, the tunnel 'floats' a bit, and this creates a lot of vibrations for the buildings above. The issue is actually only on a small strip of the tunnel, but due to the limited space in the tunnel, it is impossible to place a 'normal' speed signal; the sidewalk would be too narrow to allow a safe exit during an emergency. So, due to this mistake, normal trains only drive 40kph in the entire tunnel (they haven't come up with a solution like '40kph in 300m' or something). The Thalys and Eurostar have different suspensions, so that they are allowed to ride 90kph through the tunnel. It's really a pitty, there the entire tunnel was desined to be at 120kph.
How can the electric brakes keep working while the pantograph is down? I always thought they were sending the electricity made by the brakes in the line again...
Nah, don't think they have 'regenerative braking'. Dynamic brakes generally use resistors that use up the electricity by turning it into heat.
Wow,didn't know trains were allowed 300kph in the Netherlands. Dutch trains never go above 160 or 180 I believe. That was fast. I have a question, on the HSL you have a few points were it says "neutral section",I have seen "Phase lock" mentioned by Dutch drivers. Is this the same and what is it?
dutch train on conventional tracks only go 140 since the ground is soft and the trains will bounce and can derail at higher speed that is why our HSL is on slabs of concrete
phase lock is a neutral section
Thanks :)@@arfanvlk9351
35:05 excellent excellent moment ! I laughed hard
33:20: what is this undergorund tunnel about ? What is it going under ? I'm only seeing deserted agricultural land around
33:20 We call it the green heart of the Netherlands and we are committed to keeping it green...
Only v250?
Excellent and very interesting! ( Please call stations Railway Station and not Trainstation - a personal preference I'm afraid)
