Lotta future content! Love it! I fell down the 4 stroke oil rabbit hole about 12 years ago and finally got out of it 3-4 years ago. Then I found the 2t oil rabbit hole little over 2 years ago😅🤦🏻 I completely understand your "problem" and would absolutely be doing more testing and teardowns if I had more time. For now it's run a tank or two, pull plug and muffler then have a peak.
@aaronpowell4885 I fell down this rabbit hole a few years ago too. I remember the exact day after tearing down a older Stihl trimmer and a Stihl 271. I remember thinking why is this so dry. Off to UA-cam I went and the rest is history. Still in this rabbit hole searching for the golden answer.
Dave, thank you for taking us on this journey with you. I am looking forward to seeing what you find and where it leads. I think I can say that we all appreciate you sharing the results with us.
@@Super-Dave-Outdoors Yeah, he definitely has a good lubricity tester. I think in one of his original oil test videos, he talks about how he built his own from scratch because he couldn't afford the industrial ones that he wanted. I always smile when I re-watch those videos, because he could definitely afford them now.
The chinese ones are around 250$ which isnt terrible but shipping is also 200$. I have access to a scrap bin and a welder so i am gonna build something when i get time.
I'd love to see the Motorex 2T trial. I've actually just bought a bottle yesterday and want to try it out myself! FD rated as well. Using it in my chainsaw. Cheers
I'll try, kind of hit a wall on this one and decided to regroup and how i want to test them. Too many projects at once! It will come in the future tho!
Would you need to retune the carb after dropping to 40:1? I didn't hear what saw you were running it in. If it's autotune mute point. Seems like it will run leaner when you add more oil and that's why you had more heat in that temp probe. IDK. Interesting though.
Additional heat was my fault. My temp probe only measures contact temp and i changed the location slightly on the second test. New location is standard but some deviation should be noted. Rpm did not change significantly so i dont believe the ratio changed the tune, test unit is an Echo SRM-225 string trimmer.
The 125 dirt bike guys swear it is all rpm related, more rpm wants more oil. I dont know of anything in current production that uses more than 32:1 in gasoline fueled applications.
Very comprehensive listing- wow!

Yep, i hate it. Wish i could be happy just running one oil but that isnt the way things work in my world.

Can't go wrong with good bike oils. Saber, HP2, H1-R, R50, Scheaffer 7000 and 9000 have all been excellent.

I want to build a project farm style friction tester. Time to start gathering parts!

Wow big list of many items this should be quite interesting the further you dive into it.
A ton of information to go through!
Very interested in Red Armor. Use it religiously!
Red armor is great, i work for an echo dealership so i see it in a ton of equipment.
My buddy has A KTM and uses motorex also in his saws! Seems fine!
I'm not scared of any of the bike oils, from what i have seen they are all pretty solid so i would imagine motorex to be the same
SUPERTECH TCW3 cant wait

Using it in my chainsaw.
Cheers
It will make it on the list eventually!
Can you add Elf HTX 976+ and/or Castrol Power RS-2T (formerly Power 1) to your testlist? Keep up the good work! Love it!!

Which had the best lubricating in ratio to stroke and shaft size?
I heard the bigger the bore the louder she screams more....

And this is just the current line up, testing is still in progress and the list will be updated as it goes.
