@@dweebovision Yes, though watching some of Mack Meller's games with best bot he says he's quite sceptical of the more positive evaluation of vowel leaves
I was surprised you, having rejected AXE at M1, didn’t play XI at M2, which would have been a safer option. It’s an interesting psychology to see how risk averse you are in some stages of the game when the risks are low, compared to the decisions you sometimes make when they are high. I wonder whether you approach plays differently in these UA-cam games when less is at stake.
I try to assess candidate moves in terms of winningness rather than risk aversion or acceptance. I have no issue with making high risk plays if I think they are the winningest ones
You do say ouch after seeing Maxi was available however I really don't think your play was bad at all, it was a conservative play that scored a decent amount of points, also if you look at the bag (which you did) you could have always drawn all vowels after playing off that extra consonant...it would have left you with no scoring tiles at all.
MAXI would have allowed REZ to the left of it (RAM, ETA, ZEX) for a shedload of points as well, so it would have been a close-run game anyway. Maybe it would be the wiser thing to do, but there was a huge element of luck in that game ... the S and blank distribution kept me in it otherwise it would have been a slaughter.
@@womblereturns1377 I am just getting back into the game as a casual, I enjoyed a game of scrabble as a youngster but David has taught me a few words and hooks to say the least...in hindsight its easy to say that it was not the best play when you know your opponents tiles, its a different story when you are in the game and playing. obviously he feels Maxi was a better play after knowing what he drew, I understand that (deit/diet) is a good rack leave but what happens if you draw double O and an I. I am nowhere near his level but these are things he considers. thanks for the info on the other plays if Maxi was played, it really puts into context how close to the optimum play was...the missed bingo made the difference IMO...I did not see that either...double I in the rack and I am livid.
@@phillipcarlroberts4640 Totally agree - but something tells me that not matter what he did, the tilefairy would have made sure I had sufficient blanks and scoring tiles to beat him. Even if that meant creating a second Z in the bag! Haha. Likewise, I have absolutely no business playing the likes of Dweeb - just lucky to watch his videos and learn.
Thanks David, tilefairy was definitely on my side for that one! Revenge for Bucharest ;-) Ronan.
13:15 that rack plus an A is VIOLATER! it doesn't play though
20:00 hilarious that the rack is.... PITIABLE through a P
After MAXI, REZ would still be played to the left of URINATED making RAM, ETA and ZEX.... ouch
What do you mean by "the new world order of loving vowels"? Did the wordlist change in a way that changes their valuation?
I am referring to the change in valuation of rack leaves. Macondo leaves replace Quackle leaves and vowels are now more valuable with Macondo

XI at M2 would make the invalid INE
@@mikechappell5849 No, it makes XI and IN. The E was played later in ODEA.

i am watching game now and i think you could have got pitiable thru the l when you played "pia" (i think !)
PITIABLE oversight of a 2x2 & a few other sloppy decisions ― the game was _very_ much urs 2 take 😅
