I think 'training' for scrabble just consists of reading online lists of improbable but legal words for hours on end. You don't need to know what they mean, just that they exist.
LOL not really... But, this is fun for us. This game is meant for those who are knowledgeable of incredibly rare words and not just words we already know. English majors can do this, but you're looking for linguists, who deal with language and words specifically.

I played a game online where my opponent had about a 100 point lead on a closed board at the end of the game. Managed to open up a triple and I played all my tiles for something like 110, plus all the points for the letters they had left, won by a couple. What's particularly interesting is probably any other move they make wins the game, as it's the only instance I can think of of someone making the worst move possible.

If you think about it, you just remember the word you played which is easier than remembering the letters of the word.

I think 'training' for scrabble just consists of reading online lists of improbable but legal words for hours on end. You don't need to know what they mean, just that they exist.
Yes, though you start with the most 'probable' words (mathematically probable). As in, the most likely to be of use.
A man won the French Scrabble championship without speaking a word of French by doing just that.
ding ding ding, you guessed it.
Well, you start with the most probable words, and there are much more interesting ways to study than simply memorizing lists.
At high levels, it's also a lot about positioning and blocking out your opponent

Talks about Scrabble isn’t about luck - proceeds to talk about how the first guy won by luck.
lvlaple4Ever Its called probability
Well the first guy was definitely lucky, but there's still a difference. Using probability to drive your decisions is strategy

Literally don't even know what MOST of these words mean..., But I'm still so very intrigued by this game... Never knew that there were 'Professional Scrabble Players' out there... Lol, didn't even know being a professional at Scrabble was even possible.. But, I'm very interested to see these people play & fill up their entire boards with such huge, big, complicated, fancy, smart words! Lol. I used to get excited when I could spell out 'dog' on my board lmao. 😂
8:31 love how he says that Nigel's always gonna be the best
I’m playing an embarrassing amount of Scrabble in lockdown, so you bet I’m watching this as training 😅
I love when you upload great content like this. Keep the good work.
7:42 Top center of the board "IQ" is not a valid play. Literally unwatchable.
Oscar Dolan Pretty much all legal English two letter words make no sense to me at all.
But you can make phony words in scrabble, as long as they aren't challenged they can stay
Oscar Dolan Qi is a word
^ I tried to watch it and I just couldn't, it's literally unwatchable Julian xD
Purple Shell - yes, it is, but he (Oscar Dolan) is right IQ is not. No way top level scrabble players would miss that, my guess is that it was just a mistake in recreating the board, i dont think it was actual footage.
I'm almost 15 years old and have never played Scrabble, where did my life go.
Video I didn’t know I needed
Thank You!
Very useful!❣️🥰😍
Wait, the dude started a world championship game with a two letter word?
he could have been saving letters or could literally play nothing else
Playing the field?
he obviously knows more about the game than we do. it was likely the best move he could do when looking at the tiles he had.
Scrabble is popular amongst vampires.
So, who is paying these people to play scrabble?
tetrasa1 Probably Milton Bradley
Tournament prize money?
so, then who is providing the prize money?
The people who host the tournament..duh..
Sponsors mostly. Maybe even a company which hosts their own tournament.
JustCommentingYourComments that’s extremely hopeful. Lol. They are as likely to get sponsors as an adult spelling bee
Just when I think my recommendations couldn't get more obscure yet accurate to exactly what I want to watch instead of sleeping 😌
Never had such a smile when clicking on a UA-cam video this year. Well played, sub earned big fella
