This is so true! I became a minimalist a few years ago. Getting rid of a very large portion of my stuff has given me WAY more free time than I ever thought possible. I was someone who did housework constantly. Now I hardly have any to do. I am a believer and now I have a LOT more time to spend in the word and prayer. It’s so worth it not to carry a lot of possessions through life. Life is actually so much better without it all ❤️
I had been searching for a preaching about minimalism. I know the concept is from the Bible. I have been in this journey for 3 years now. And still struggle. My stuff really ended up owning me. But it's really a process of the mind and heart.
I've been using minimalist principals for about three years now after attempting this multiple times. It makes a difference when you hear biblical verses that tend to stick and therefore help you when making decisions. After pairing down much of my possessions I feel free. It's actually fun to get rid of things over and over.
We have (2) 2 car garages. Both are so full of my wife’s, her dad’s and her son’s stuff we can’t park in them. Makes me irate. I hate it. I’m going to get back to my military days. Everything I owned fit in 2 sea bags and a hanging bag.
My house has been messy and cluttered and overwhelming. But this year started feeling different to any other time in my life and I suddenly felt that I CAN change it - I can make my house look and feel like a home and do it to glorify God!! He revealed that I've been living in the unchecked sin of GLUTTONY. And not just in food; in spending habits and acquiring stuff; in food and drink. It was like God gave me a kickstarter of grace to change things and I have been successfully decluttering, donating and giving away many things, cleaning my home and setting up the things that I enjoy and have purpose while releasing the rest. I have been better with my money, my diet, and my stuff and it's ALL thanks to God who is helping me get free from GLUTTONY 🤯
its happening naturally but then b4 you know there has been a few things that have crept in hahah...so something now has to go in its place..I hope my "stuff" helps or makes someone elses life .

You mentioned duplicate items. I used to shop for two for every thing I wanted. Sometimes if there were more colors, I would want all of them. So I relate to your saying that we sometimes need zero like your hammer! Thank you so much for your presentation. It hit the nail on my head.
When you have less stuff it's a lot easier to move. You have extra money for nicer food and to give to people that are starving on the street and that don't have a choice to be out on the street. And those that are necked and are cold could use the free clothes we give a away.
This last few years ,reducing, having less, declatering, sharing seem to be dominant head - heart preparation for peaceful healthy living.Ive been a practicing minimalist because of age and the great respect for the limited natural resources. I like this, I finally found some info of what the Bible says about minimalism well there is not info in Spanish but I understand a little of English, I’m trying to help my mom she accumulates a lot I bet she’s saving stuff since i was in school and I’m almost 30 now, but i grow up trough this mess and I thought that was normal until I married a minimalist men and I feel better this way; my mom is always stress and has headache almost everyday and gets irritated easily also has high blood pressure and I think a de clutter will help her a lot generally speaking, but she’s very emotional with the stuff she own and i think the only way i can help her is through the Bible just if i show her examples and parables, if you can recommend me more info I’ll be very happy. Thank you.
Your mom is like me...I've accumulated too many clothes... items...books...junk. crafts... paints...trinkets. i gave away 10 bags of clothes... and kids toys...i feel better to bless others. Too much stuff in my house makes my house cluttered...chaotic...messy. hard to be peaceful. I stopped giving away to the goodwill bc they charge alot of money to the poor. I used to give it to the Christian thrift store. They closed 6 years ago. Now i am looking to give clothes toys...etc to the needy. Shopping won't make us happy

I have 10 pairs of jeans. I get rid of six pairs. The year is 2019. About six or seven years go by and my four pair of jeans wore out. Now I have to go out and buy a pair of jeans that may come with six months same as cash. The extra jeans that I had had were like money in the bank.
Seems those old comic books and baseball cards might have been worth something to help settle the estate, donate to the church, or give to some org in need if didn't want the money. Then can take pics and toss otherwise it would feel like disrespecting the deceased.

Far from being biblical, minimalism has zero connection with religion. Please can't we forget the fairy stories (presented as facts which we know they aren't which makes them lies) and simply embrace, experience and enjoy the undoubted many pluses of a minimalist existence.
