This is preposterously fast. You won't find a steam engine that runs so fast. If Alkan wrote this speed, he must have come from outet space, writing about warp engines not railways.
Almost certainty, this is the best recording of this piece, (Morishita's is more technically impressive, but less musical). However, even for an Alkan piece, it doesn't benefit much from a human performance, and the piece to me is really not that interesting, only slightly better than something like Comme le vent.
