    I agree that Croatia is an amazing destination, often overlooked by Americans when planning a trip to Europe. I traveled there in late September/early October and the weather was great. Not too hot and I was still able to swim in the Adriatic. One thing not mentioned in the video which I could highly recommend for travel along the coast and to virtually any of the populated islands is the Croatian ferry system The ferries have frequent departures, are reasonably priced and are a great way to see the see the coast and view some of the many islands that lie off the coast. I travelled from Split to Hvar where I spent a few days and then on to Dubrovnik---all by ferry And there are numerous other ferry routes available.

    Just came back from a solo backpacking trip, and honestly it was one of the most amazing experiences ever.
    I stayed in places like
    Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Austria, Slovakia, and Bulgaria.
    Places in Croatia like Zagreb, zadar, split and Dubrovnik are amazing but split and Dubrovnik are REALLY expensive. Zagreb is overlooked, zadar is absolutely amazing.
    Hostels are especially a Unique experience and would definitely recommend. Especially party hostels!

I am planning a summer trip this year as well and have honestly seen that it is cheaper to book whole apartments on airbnb than a night in a dorm room. What a nice trip :) Thank you for mentioning the bus system ("coach" - i never heard that word before), that will be very helpfull for our trip. But i'd advice to start even further up nord (if you have a bit more time). Pula, Rovinj, kap Kamenjak, Cres, Krk are so beautiful as well and seem to be overlooked by most travel guides / intinerarys. We will start in Pula (which has an international airport as well) and stay there a few days, maybe with a daytrip to rovinj. Then head over to cres, including boat trips to krk and/or rab. After that, we will take the ferry to Zadar, maybe we'll spend a day on dugi otok or otok kornati. Then, we'll drive down to split and from there, we will travel along the islands: Split -> Brac -> Vis -> Hvar -> Dubrovnik. On our way home we'll visit skradin (and krka), sibenik, jasenice, maybe some parts of the velebit mountains, then Plitvička Jezera and Zagreb. I'd love to visit the hometown of my father (near zagreb )too, but that depends on the time we have left

    Thank you for the video! A worry I have regarding coaches is bathrooms. I've read from various places that not all of the buses have bathrooms, and this was a change that was covid-related? From what I've gathered it's still unclear as to whether or not they're been phased in again. For longer drives (4-ish hours), only having one stop is not great...

    • @jacklawsontravel
      @jacklawsontravel  Рік тому +1

      My Partner had this exact worry and we found that most Flix buses that travel a long distance have bathrooms, as most of these coaches travel across multiple countries in one journey and not just in Croatia. Though the Flix Coach we got on from Split to Zadar had a toilet that was out of order. It's hard to say for sure but my advice would be to not drink as much before getting on one just incase.

You should make sure you go on a few boat tours in Split (see description) and go and see Plitvice Lakes National Park when in Zadar. For accommodation I would always highly suggest Air bnb due to the cost, but if you want to book hotels then look at Booking.com .

    Hi Jack. How many days did you spend in each city?

    • @jacklawsontravel
      @jacklawsontravel  Рік тому +1

      We started off by having 3 days in Zadar, travelling to Sibenik on the 3rd day. Then stayed in Sibenik for two days then went on to split where we stayed 3 nights and on the 4th day went back to Zadar and enjoyed a last night and morning there before flying home.

    I am planning to travel to Croatia in April. Will it be a good time? Also, will it be a good time to swim in krka water park?

    • @jacklawsontravel
      @jacklawsontravel  2 роки тому

      April will be before peak season so you should have a great time! However i'm sorry to say that since I made this video they have changed the rules at Krka national park and you're no longer allowed to swim around the waterfalls you now can only do it down stream, I would still highly recommend a visit to Sibenik though which is near the national park.

      No I flew in and out of Zadar, the reason being is a lot cheaper do to so than Spilt. My advice would be to fly into zadar and work your way down, go to Zadar, Sibinik, Split and then Dubrovnik. As i said in the video Coach travel is the cheapest way to get around but hiring a car is also a good choice. If you want beaches I suggest taking a trip to the Blue Lagoon from Split.

    I’m planning to go in two weeks with 3 others. Would it be better value for money to buy a package deal (flights & hotel included w transfers) or pay for flights and hotel and transfers separately for a stay in split?

    • @jacklawsontravel

      In my experience it's always better to pay for this all on your own. This is how I get cheap deals. Flights to Split aren't too expensive, nor are transfers. If you look on booking.com or airbnb you'll always find a good deal for accommodation

      Yes if you watch the video I explain how to get it as cheap as possible. But to get this price to need to book it all yourself independently, try and avoid hotels and instead book Air Bnb. If you fly from London to Zadar return it will cost you around £55 then return, i booked air bnb and they cost me around £200 for a 7 night stay. Theses were spread out across various different cities such as Split, Zadar and Sibenik. Please let me know if you need any help.
