Well, I tried this the other day, but that Chinese player had something called a brain and made a destroyer.

@@aaaa-vp8cj It depends how fast they attack you, I personally don’t have that issue as I spend the first year on economic growth than after that I’d use the money I earn for the navy.
Most Taiwan players I see just place one submarine and rage quit when china gets out an actual navy to counter it

the most useful strategy to destroy Taiwan in RoN as china is the next one: place artillery all along the coast if it has destroyers or frigates protecting their submarines once they are done get a battleship and a few destroyers the battleship will attack artillery pieces and the destroyers will destroy the submarines trying to sink the battleship or you can also use submarines to attack his but its recommended to train your submarines and always try having more submarines as them thats easy but well once all their navy and defenses are gone lead your troops to their eastern coast if they have allies now if they are alone make sure to capture square cities to sink their economy and ensuring they wont be able to make tanks if he ever gets to make bomb them with aircraft and your artillery once all square cities are secured its over for them just go and capture everything
thats only if they are alone now if they have allies such as the US or Japan for japan i suggest placing submarines along the sea escorted by destroyers or battleships if its the US i suggest getting everything done quickly assuming they have to cross all the pacific they usually bring small untrained fleets with them so bring yours to sink in case he brings a bigger fleet set artillery tanks and Anti Air along the eastern taiwanese coast (Anti Air in case they bring an aircraft carrier if the invasion occurs in late game)
note that this might only work in early game recommended to make sure their economy is low if they have money it is probably they’ll be able to set more defenses wich will make the invasion harder expensive and longer remember that always whenever you are to invade a controlled country you always need an invasion plan divided in 3 forces an offensive force of around 300k-780k 10-20 strike aircraft 5-20 bombers and 3k-7k tanks ,a defensive force of 400k-1.2M troops 10-20 fighters 10-30 strike aircraft 30 bombers to bomb their factories and 4k-9k tanks and a last standing force of 120k maxed out troops 2k tanks 120 artillery and 70 AAs i took a war with russia as an example for the military composition only usefull as china training levels can take a decisive role but i always recommend getting as much troops as you can get not as much troops as you consider having

I remember my first time using submarines, I was portugal at the time and I lost all my land except for my islands in the atlantic. USA was helping me out with electronics telling me what to do as I was still learning the game back then, I built a electronic factory and a submarine and watched as spain sent the boats and I intercepted every single one, it was beautiful.

this literally happened to me when I was Japan, I thought I’d actually have to do stuff to defend, however it was too late… I only had 1 sub and he had no navy, he spammed but made landings but I entrenched my troops and protected Tokyo but lost southern japan, then he kept spamming, he eventually got 8 million losses but SOMEHOW DIDN’T COLLAPSE, and then he made tanks and artillery then sent them to auto capture which by that time my submarine army was even larger and could deflect any Chinese attack and then I got literally half of the server’s support and then the china player country hopped until being china again spammed again but made a navy which I destroyed since he doesn’t know battleships can be beaten by subs and then he finally collapsed cus Vietnam got his capital and I emerged as a super power
Hot take, submarines shouldn't stop troops from moving. If it's underwater then it can't stop troops from moving forwards. A destroyer and other above sea units can physically block things from moving forwards

This exact thing happened to me late game. I was USA (ik cringe) and other dude was India. He sent crazy amount of infantry across the pacific Ocean to try and land in California. I saw them near Indonesia and just spawned bunch of subs near LA and he fell apart before all the troops died 💀

Destroyers are countered by arty and other destroyers. Make sure to get a navy commander and pray for either attack or defense. As far as economy goes you're on your own, focus civilian factories if you can and pray the china player is missing brain cells
