I've only ever seen your more educational stuff, you are hilarious in these more relaxed videos. Sweet board!
Thanks for a honest review. This Rc3 move that the board registered as Rc4 was instructive of possible sensor errors that can cost you an online game!
Love it!! Keep on keeping!!
The Centaur has a chess computer that you can play against I believe. Been looking at these boards for a min. Beautiful board!
Yes, the DGT Centaur has a chess computer built-in / on board, that you can play against, But it is a bit janky in the build. The pieces are soooo light, and one really comes to miss the feel of heavier weighted pieces. Also, the board does NOT connect to the internet, so one can only play the onboard computer, or over the board against another physical opponent.
I am eager for DGT to make a board that has:
1. Built in blue tooth (like the Square Off Board and and the DGT Pegasus)
2. Built in computer to play against, or at least a connection to a computer via and app (like the Square Off, via an app, or the Pegasus)
3. Lights on the board that indicate the opponents move, to eliminate the need to look at a phone for the opponent's moves (like the Millennium, or Square Off Pro).
4. Nice, weighted pieces, like the DGT Boards or the Millennium (but not like the janky hollow plastic Square off pieces).
5. Onboard, built-in rechargeable battery, like with the Square Off Pro (and unlike the Millennium Supreme 55 that requires a separate battery pack).
Please make this happen!
@cooloutac I would recommend you the Chessnut Pro. Has weighted pieces now, even a premium piece option which Have amazing looking knights for a little more money. Better piece recognition than the DGT tournament board. I also have the DGT centaur. It has a great AI to play against and you can even make a move every day like a correspondent game if you wanted. it remembers everything once you turn it back on. But its not that the pieces are too light, its the fact it does not have piece recognition that is the problem. Which is the reason I returned the DGT Pegasus including poor battery. Plus you can't play online with the Centaur or download a pgn for easy analysis. Chessnut boards is where its at right now.
I put my eboard on a florist turntable to 3nable turning from black to white on online play. I use mine fir entering games from written materials as I can enter them very fast that way.
That's sweet. I got the walnut board with the classic pieces earlier this year. It's made a big difference in my online play at slower time controls.
BTW, the boards appear to be particle board with wood veneers.
have fun, waiting for your feedback about training with it ...
Merci
I’m waiting on a Phantom board and this video is making me so excited. I love playing OTB but never get a chance to anymore.
I'm thinking about ordering one since I've read a lot of bad things about SquareOff. Any idea when they plan to actually start shipping?
@@Stripping_Bolts their latest update indicates they have testing units and they’re working on software, but has no promises around ship dates.
@@PaulHobbs23 interesting.. I like phantom, looks higher quality than SquareOff. I'll definitely keep an eye on their campaign
Give me a shout... i'll play you OTB.
Please send the link to buy the product please
whats the dimentions of dgt chess board which tournaments use ??
What's your favorite chess set to study otb?
Great video and board
Hi dude‚ in the base of the white king if I dont remeber bad‚ i see a "Dgt logo" that is removable? Or was just my imagination?
I’d go for the Chessnut, this DGT board tech seem out of date already, but thanks for sharing
After game analysis. I play OTB with friends and want the board to be able to do analysis of our games, is this board capable of doing that?
Getting the move wrong like it did for Rc3/Rc4 would make the DGT a non-starter for me, my use-case being online games, even if it only happened once every 100 games. Perhaps there is a sensitivity or time-delay adjustment that could be tweaked to avoid such issues?
Yes after I tweaked the settings it improved a lot
I'm not sure what board should i buy. The Supreme Tournament 55 which has lights integrated that flash where you have to move your opponent's pieces and you don't have to look on your device , or this one... What's your oppinion?
Why did you bought the plastic and not the wooden board ?
Can you buy a chess board like the one showing online?
Could u please put a link on where and how did u buy it ??
Got it from DGT's shop, pieces came from Chess Central
Dumb question. I have never played in a tournament before so i was curious if these boards are allowed for me to use it in a tournament in case i miss putting the moves in my score sheet?
They would probably be allowed, but hard to plug in during the game. Would recommend just practicing notation! 🙂
get yourself a chessnut pro. They run off battery and can record up to 50 games to the board. Battery can definitely you last you 6-10 hours. I know NYH chess uses some on their stream. but I don't know if tournament will allow you to turn it on since its not a dgt lmao. They seem to always have theirs off lmao. but when playing otb game the squares do not light up or anything.
is there an affiliate link so we can buy it too?
Not yet :) got it from DGT's shop
I don't really see the point of those boards as we need to move the opponent's pieces ^^ But the concept is interesting and I hope it will be develop in the future! Can't wait to see more stream/contents where you are using it :)
It's to be able to move physical pieces yourself 😊
Square off has a couple online boards where the pieces move themselves. Like the Neo. It's just about the aesthetics with these boards. Some people also play better looking in 3d.
@@ChessDojo I'm not sure what board should i buy. The Supreme Tournament 55 which has lights integrated that flash where you have to move your opponent's pieces and you don't have to look on your device , or this one... What's your oppinion?
@@Asdfgadv33423 Definitely go for the lights. Looking at a screen defeats the purpose and making the site announce the moves is super annoying. hopefully you learned about chessnut boards before wasting your money on anything else. They are where its at right now.
the only problem with the DGT board is the squares don't light up for your opponents moves. I'm waiting for a tournmanent sized board called the chessnut pro to be released I believe next month. Its very cheap at $550 with wooden pieces.. I have their smaller desktop board for $199 and its great the only one at that size and price with full piece recognition.
Not everyone wants their chess board to light up though :)
@@ChessDojo having to look at the screen defeats the purpose. I guess with the dgt board you can have it announce the moves. But for a Noob like me I don't know the the board positions well so it saves me time seeing the squares light up.
@@cooloutac Right, the sites can announce the moves for you. Btw if you're not comfortable with notation/coordinates you should definitely do that! Very important step in chess development
@@cooloutac How does the site announce the moves for you? Is it telling you the square that your opponent moved his pieces to?
@cooloutac Sorry my reply keeps getting deleted for some reason. yes that is what it does. There are also apps for e-boards that do that too. But that won't help you learn coordinates, neither will books. What will help you is learning to write down the notation each move in the game as you are playing.
What is the book on the desk in the background?
I ask myself the same question :)
This is a guess but it looks like Aggard's calculation book 🤔
23:11 how did that happen? 😵 The piece hit c4 a bit and it the program thought it was released on c4? It should wait like 1 sec to send the definitive move to the other programs or something. 😂
Got better after adjusting the settings :)
If we set up a random position does the board knows what pieces stand on top of every square?
yes. That is called full piece recognition. The millienum, chessnut and dgt tournament boards are only boards with that I know of. Chessnut would be my recommendation.
which kind is this
As an Age of Empires player, how can I make sure I get a DGT French Knight?
Hahaha
E Assim se perde jogando nos DGT's da vida !!
Hey Kostya, I have videos on all the latest e-boards if you are interested!
Nice! Do you have a recommendation for the best budget e-board? Especially I want to avoid losing games how Kostya did in at the end there haha!
Have you experienced the phantom move issue on chess.com? Where the board makes moves on its own?
@@ChessDojo that can happen. Just try to make sure you lift the piece one inch off the board at least to make sure that when you set it down put it in the middle of the square. I mean you don't have to be too precise with that but I noticed that if you make very deliberate moves from square to square you reduce the chances of something like that happening. That's been my experience. Hope this helps. Cheers!
@@ishanr8697 best budget e-board is the Chessnut Air. You can see my videos and get a 10% off coffee if you are interested! Cheers!
@@katzenpapa I meant the board sometimes sends a move to chess.com *without* me touching any of the pieces. I had a game where it kept playing Nd2-b1 and Rb1-a1 for no reason. Ever notice anything like that?
I imagine they would have foreseen your board turning difficulties. Is there a setting option that allows the board to disregard the initial orientation? So for example, you could set up the pieces after you have discovered what color you are playing…
Not sure, but wasn't a big deal :)
I wonder how much more expensive is the bluetooth version. Then you shouldn't have the cord situation if you need to rotate the board.
A few hundred more if I remember correctly
@@ChessDojo I looked at the Square Off but I think its pieces are too big for its 2 inch squares.
I'm an owner of a Bluetooth DGT board. It's not only much more expensive but also much more delayed, compared to USB version (signals from board to computer/smartphone go longer). In online games it's important. So, USB version is better (especially USB 3.0).
Chessnut pro, better piece recognition and has more features than the DGT boards.
Like cool!
How much did you buy it for if i may ask 😊
It was the normal price from the DGT shop :)
Yes but when i go to the dgt website it does not show the price so can you please tell me the price if you want😊
@@hasanscofield6725 Oh :) It was about $300-350
That is a very good price thank u for telling me btw do they offer world wide shipping or no 😊
Sorry for asking so many question but is it 350 for the whole board and the pieces
All people who make videos about these digital boards, just play normal moves. But what happens if you play an illegal move? What happens if you move a piece two times ignoring one side's turn, what happens if you accidentally drop some pieces? What happens if you CHALLENGE the board and how the board reacts?
Usually the board just won't register illegal moves, worth testing though!
What is OTB?
Over-the-board 🙂
@@ChessDojo Now is clear
Imposible para mi tener un tablero de este modelo a menos que lo consiga en donaciom
23:10 :0
May I give you some good advice! Next time buy a board without notation, so you can play games better without turning it over every time. Few people think about the possibility. I learned that through DGT and computer chess.
Yes I would have but since the board was going to be used on stream, I thought the audience would probably need them 🙂
What's his name?
IM Kostya Kavutskiy
@@ChessDojo i mean the board
@@joeshmo546 You wrote "his name"?
@@ChessDojo your right I shouldn't assume
@@joeshmo546 Oh, understood the confusion now. Probably you're not a native English speaker. That's ok! In English, inanimate objects don't carry a gender. Correct would be to ask "what is the name of the board?" or "what is its name?"
Rook takes rook en passant!
made a giant crypto trade today. Looking for something to blow my money on haha.
Can you gave it to me as a gift? Thanks for liking my comment!
