What is the Law of Karma? How is the Law of Karma explained in Hinduism. How is the law of Cause and Effect related to the Law of Karma?

Explaining the Law of Karma, Swami Mukundananda states:
There are certain man-made laws and there are certain universal
laws, law which are not created by man but still existing. The traffic laws, the laws of IRS, the laws of the state they are all man-made. If you violate them you can be punished and then there are the subtle universal laws of God, like the laws of motion that control existence. And one of the divine law is the law of Karma.
This law of Karma is very much like the law of cause and effect. It says that every cause will lead to an effect. When the law of cause and effect is applied to our thoughts, actions & works it becomes the law of Karma. "Karma pradhan vishwa kari rakha, Jo jas karai so tasa phala chakha" ~ Ramayana
The law of Karma says whatever you do will have consequences, so one must be careful about your every action and thought.
Explaining the real purpose of the Law of Karma, Swamiji further explains, The law of Karma states you, yourself are responsible for where you are in life. The law of Karma says you took choices all
through your journey in past and present life and the consequences of all those choices is that you find yourself in a particular situation today. So the law of Karma tells us it is our responsibility
and that is why we now have the onus. By understanding we are responsible for our situations, law of Karma gives us hope. If you are not satisfied with your state in life all you need to do is to
change your actions and thoughts to better and eventually you will find yourself in a better place.

I'm Tibetan buddism from Bhutan. We called it as (Lay dha namen or lay jumdrey)...i strongly believe in karma because I have witnessed it! When I was young n immature...i took my grandpa for granted n eventually didn't give him a time n when puberty hit me.. I started missing him... 😢 n I suffered from depression in very young age.. N since then I'm very much cautious bout my own action....i have learned that as you sow.. You shall reap it.! N if u believe in karma.. Everything will be good in consequences...:) don't go...screw people...bexauss U should take what u have put in!

Respected Swami Mukundananda, There are 2 points:
a) Law of karma states - that humans suffer due to their past actions.
b) No free will/everything is pre destined - this means that even the past actions or to say the very 1st action of each creature was already pre decided by God himself. If so why does God punish them for the same(i.e the karma was already written and ordained by God )? When in essence the mere creature was just acting based on the Supreme will. Please provide your insights to us.

Very well explained guruji, can you please clarify me a question that is being haunting me. My marriage is a disaster and my inlaws make it even worse, i niw realize the siting i am in shpuld be due to my past karmas and I accept it. Now the question is these people who poke me , mske me cry, treat me like a servant, ,... will they have a consequence for doing these ? Or since i am destined to be miserable these prople are all being made to act like this by god and their carmic account eill be closed since they took revenge on me for my past katmas as per wish of god. No where I am getting sn answer, please help me
If in this life whatever I get it was just because of my Karma from my past life then why I can't remember my past life...
In one lifetime’s perspective, the law of Karma becomes inexplicable. Only God can keeps an account of all of our Karmas, not from one life but endless past life. The accumulated Karma of past life times is called Sanchita Karma. Every time we take birth in this world to continue our journey, God takes a portion from our Sanchita Karma and give it. This portion of the Sanchita Karma which we are born with becomes Prarabhdha Karma, also known as our destiny. We also have free will and the Karma that we do with our free will is Kriyamana Karma. Sanchita and Prarabhdha Karma are fixed, but Kriyamana Karma is not fixed. Since the Kriyamana Karma is not fixed, so we can divert the course of our life on a path that will help us lead to God.
The bonds of endless Karma keeps us stuck in the continuous cycle of birth and death. As you burn a portion of the Sanchita Karma during each life, you are accumulating more Karma in each life. So, what is the way to break out of these bonds of infinite Karmas? Lord Krishna explains to Arjun in the Bhagavad Gita that if I bestow my Grace, I will burn all of your Karmas. By surrendering to God, we get God’s grace which will burn all of our Karmas and liberate us from this cycle of birth and death forever.

Regarding your question if Karma applies to thought level even in Kaliyug, the answer is Yes. The main philosophy is "Mind alone is the doer". mana eva manushyanam karanam bandha mokshayaho - Mind alone is the cause of bondage and liberation.
If in Kaliyug, Karma was not applicable to our thoughts, then by simply doing physical worship-without attachment to God, would have gotten us liberation or divine love. Since that is not the case, in all Yuga, only actions of our mind (thoughts) count towards our Karmas.
