Pentax MZ-6, ZX-L and MZ-3 with Brass Mirror Motor Cogs

Pentax MZ and ZX series of cameras are notorious for breaking due to a design flaw where Pentax used a plastic cog for the mirror motor. Overtime, this breaks in half due to the stresses of driving the mirror.
Fortunatelz, some MZ and ZX cameras have brass cogs instead. Here's a quick video to help you identify if your Pentax MZ or ZX camera has a brass cog.
My theory is that MZ and ZX cameras produced after 2002 have factory brass cogs.

Glad it helped! The MZ series cameras are highly underrated because of the bad reputation but I have never missed an exposure with these cameras.
