@@ultarivera2813 Not sure about that. I do know that a lot of Vitamix blender attachments are interchangeable between many models though. I can certainly find out for you!
The motor underneath lets off a slight smell and it's a little loud ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq but considering it's size and how hard it works to do the job, it's sort of expected. I assume the smell will go away over time. Overall, I love this cute little blender. The extra cups and lids are great too!
*I had one of these before and it lasted many years and I used it a lot. It blends **MyBest.Kitchen** chops ,grates. Does most anything you would want to use it for. A lot of bang for your buck. A litlle loud however it so fast it is not bothersome.*
I just bought the e320 at Costco Mexico-Cancun. This unit is for our vacation home in mexico, back home in Seattle we have the 5200 model. In summary, the review is spot on. We paid $316 usd out the door, so pretty good deal. We like the blender with the exception of the speed dial, it does not feel like a quality part. Vitamix could have done a better job there. Seems like the accountants are taking over vitamix :( The noise and everything else is pretty much on par with our vitamix 5200 model back home. If we had to do it again, would we get one? The short answer is YES!
I love vitamix quality and warranty. I too have a 10+ year old one that still works!!! Just purchased this one because I considered the price good for vitamix ($300 at sams)
@tammyrodriguez3772 awesome! I've been pretty lucky with my kitchen equipment. Haven't had really any major warranty issues with anything regardless of brand... Except my Samsung icemaker (that's a story for a different day though. Haha). Glad you are enjoying it. 300 bucks is a great price for that.
I love my vitamix. it's loud, but that's because it's powerful. I'm not trying to be quiet while blending. The personal cups are great. if you rinse your cups immediately they are a breeze to clean. That being said, with a 5 minute soak anything comes off them with ease!
True... for me personally, I don't care too much about noise... Kitchens are supposed to be noisy! It means good stuff is happening. LOL. As far as cleaning goes, with any blender, I always just rinse em out really quick, shoot in some detergent and warm water, and blend away. They always come out nice and clean pretty easily. When people wait and let stuff dry on em, that's when they get a little challenging. On the Vitamix, I'm more of a fan of the 5000 series ones. Those ones are my favorite in their line. Thanks for your insight! It's much appreciated!
Appreciate a honest review.. But considering the overwhelming positive reviews... Seems kinda harsh.. Just hoping my wife likes hers, birthday present, in a couple of days...
Is it that same model? Could also have been a bad test unit as well. Let me know how it goes when she checks it out. It would be really interesting to see if you guys have better luck! And a happy birthday to her!
My Ninja blender quit working I got Vitamix from Costco for $100 less than normal price, this is the best blender I have ever used, they worth all the money.
Nice! With that extra 100 off, it makes them way more attractive. Really wish they would redesign that single serve cup though. Wasn't a big fan of that. Powerful Blender though.. And nice warranty to boot!
My experience with Vitamix is not recent. I bought my Vitamix used off of Craigslist about 10 years ago for, I believe $100. The woman told me it was 20 years old and I'm sure it was. The only negative was it was missing a rubber foot. So I found a piece of plastic about that size and keep it with the blender. It's the only annoying thing about my blender. I thought many times over the years about calling Vitamix and seeing if they had a replacement, but I just never got around to it. I am here today because I am researching the latest info on the Vitamix and will maybe, finally, buy a new one. I'm probably going to go with the Costco Venturist 1200, which, I'm pretty sure, is the Ascent 2300. With Costco you get $165 worth of accessories. Regarding your review, I get the impression in some cases you are just looking for reasons to criticize Vitamix so you will sound unbiased. Like assuming if you run the thing with fewer ingredients at a lower speed the container will rock. Huh? You say you only tested it mostly filled and running at high speeds. What's up with that? You and your test kitchen couldn't run one more test to see if your criticism was valid? You say the tamper feels like a child's plastic baseball bat. Fair enough. So how did it work in your test kitchen? Did it do the job? I can't speak to the quality of this new, smaller tamper directly except to say my original tall tamper is 30 years old and is working just fine. You also say that the blender is too loud at high speed (too true!) but that the lowest speed "probably" is useless! Again, HUH? Now I'll admit I haven't had the need to use the Vitamix at the slowest speed but I can think of a number of things I might use it for, like grinding coffee or grinding flour. My problem with you is you didn't even try it, to see if it might be useful at low speeds. Epic review fail. Your one criticism I agree with is how loud the motor is and it is annoying. I wish they would do something about that. That said, unless I'm making a soup or grinding 60oz of coffee beans into a turkish blend (my preference), I don't usually run it for more than a minute to make my green juices. You say Vitamix says you can warm up soup in the blender and that you could do it faster on the stove. Vitamix has never, to my knowledge, recommended using it to "warm up" soup. What they say is you can MAKE SOUP FROM 100% FRESH INGREDIENTS with the blender in about six minutes AND YOU CAN. I love using my Vitamix to make hot soup. Regarding the dial being "jenky", I can't speak to that. It probably should have a smoother transition from slow to fast and that may be something a professional chef would notice, care about, and need. Perhaps you should review the Vitamix they say is used by professional kitchens around the world, too. I'm not saying the Costco unit shouldn't be professional quality, especially for the price. What I will say is I've used my 30 year old Vitamix for over ten years and it's been great.
Heya Tom. Thanks for your thoughts! Always appreciated. I'll agree with you on several things in retrospect. That wobble turned out to be a non issue as far as safety and function go. I was just more of a fan of the locking type mechanisms. On the jerky dial and the weird speed inconsistencies, it talking with a few Vitamix owners, it seems to be limited to just the Explorian e320, and then only a few of those and not the whole line, so it must have been some kind of manufacuring hiccup that they had a while back. Some of the other criticisms I had were a little biased, but not because I was really searching for reasons to criticize it, but more because we have to factor in the reputation and price of Vitamix against their feature set... not to mention the fact that we've used several of their blenders in the past and they have all been pretty amazing before. Maybe that's not super fair to them, but when you're the best weird problems are a little more shocking and unexpected.
Thank you for taking the time to review - we are looking to get one for out church. I can tell you after working with some people they would not think to turn the cup over before unscrewing.
You're very welcome! Thanks for taking the time to watch. As far as not thinking to turn the cup over, I can't say much... I do plenty of things that make people question my intelligence.. lol.
You are so right.. The personal cup with blade is so weird. They could have given a lid and done away with the holes and made this another jar😅. It's irritating to use this blade and I struggle. They have another blade base but it's it's priced at $139..😢
Our old V-mix lasted 13 years before the plastic cracked at the bottom of the pitcher. Still works and could probably seal it with epoxy....but we just bought the 320 because we can. Time to make a protein shake and go kitesurfing!!
We bought on at Costco when it was on sale for $299.. WOW is it loud !!!!!! I couldnt stay in the kitchen for more than one minute with that sound so ear shattering... I think I may return it because of the sound and also the bottom cord storage, is exactly like you said, cheap and will not last... Also the lid is hard to push down all the way and then lift off.. I can see it becoming fatiqued in a short while and fail its purpose.. Good through review
Yeah.. Definitely loud for sure... All high speed blenders are pretty loud, but I felt like this one was right at the top. It's a good Blender, but in my opinion, there was a lot with it just kind of feels a little dated.
Joe should review several blenders and put them up against the Vitamix E320 to see how the Vitamix stacks up against the others. Sure others has glass which I prefer but to see this appliance liquidify contents against other blenders is impressive and for those who have trouble swallowing due to obstruction in the throat or esophagus this might offer much comfort. I watched the crushing of ice demo comparing it to other blenders and Vitamix won out hands down. It also won out when blending chunks, others did a good job but Vitamix did it better. There are some good blenders on the market at an affordable price that perform well but if you want a workhorse then Vitamix is an excellent choice.
All very good points, Linda! Wish I could have done a larger pool of blenders.... need to get these guys to send us some stuff so we can do it... It get way expensive. LOL. I love Vitamix, but I've only used the 5000 series ones other than this one... Also, I'm pretty sure there was some sort of manufacturing issues with our review unit.
@@JoesPhenomenal They should send you different blenders since your honest and fair opinion is helpful for a people in the business of shopping for a blender. I do wish the Vitamix E320 was glass, definitely would be a winning combinations with 2.2 hp. Vitamix has worked hard to maintain a creditable standing so they have to be very careful what is being sold under their name so your opinion is valued.
Thanksnfor the vote of confidence. I agree about the glass pitcher... Vitamix was quoted as saying the plastic pitcher is due to safety as a glass one can shatter if dropped....not sure if I completely agree with that or not, though. I wouldn't mind a stainless one like in some of their commercial blenders.... It's fun to see the stuff inside though.
I appreciate everything you demonstrated. I will read the direction book because I just need to be sure I haven’t missed anything. So thanks again. I have had three nutribulets and they did not last. Bought a Vitamix 50 years ago at a County Fair. Loved it. Gave it to my son. SO gone. I need something that doesn’t have a lot of pieces to put together. I need something simple and strong so trying this again. Very nice Coctco had this Sale and my mixer “bit the dust this morning” and sale was still on. Thank you.
You're welcome! Well, Vitamix blenders are definitely durable. I nitpicked it a little, but it's a solid appliance, and if anything breaks on it, you have a 7 year warranty that includes shipping both ways.... That's really great.
@@JoesPhenomenalpurchased mine yesterday, and I notice all the same exact issues with mine and this one doesn't have tge extra cups and has only three years warranty 😢
@nativelovewithrayandrocio8336 hmm... Definitely differences with their lower priced models.... But then again, even those are pretty darned high. Pressure from Blendtec maybe?
Well, to be fair to them, the stuff I complained about probably wouldn't be that big a deal to me if it was a cheaper brand. For that kind of money, I was expecting a little more. That being said, it's the cheapest blender they make. Better to stick with higher prices and quality maybe?
They're nice machines.... Very powerful... But that e320 was a little weird.... I mentioned in the comments that maybe something was wrong with my review unit... But still.. It's a lot of money for a Blender.... For me, anyways.
I really appreciate this review. Every time anyone talks about vitamix they have a cult following and they can find no wrong with it. If I would have bought this I would have been disappointed. I too expect a higher quality from vitamix and it’s not cheap too!
When you're the #1 brand, ya have to bring the best effort every time. The expectation on those things has to play into it.. especially with the hefty price tag.
Great review. I suspect the large skirt on the personal cup base was made large enough to contain the mess if the cup ever came loose during blending. They should have made this base to accept a lid so you could clean it as easily as the main carafe with water and a drop of detergent. The double-wall on the personal cup might become problematic if a leak ever develops. I've had this occur many times over the years in similar products. I had to bore a couple holes thru the outer wall only to allow rinse and dry of this "sealed" area.
Yep.. That sounds like tons of work.. Haha. That design was so weird to me... I've never had a single cup attachment leak on anything else before, so I thought that was way overkill.
One more thing after buying the E320 at Costco... The personal cup base has drain holes so it will NOT contain a spill if the cup comes loose. At this point, their design makes no sense at all to me.
That Vitamix has the low profile containers which don't work as well as the older type one do. Also à 32 oz container would work better then the new mini ones do. good price but might be better to pay 500 bucks and get the dry container. I did that over 20 years ago with super 5000. Other then replacing wet container leaked. And control speed switch still works like new.
You must have a not so great unit. I bought the E320 at Costco and it is fine. The knob is not wobbly and the blade doesn't slow down when I reduce the speed. It is loud , but that doesn't bother me.
It appears that the mifht have had a production hiccup back when we reviewed this.. Several people mentioned similar problems back then, but I haven't seen anyone mention it in a while, so that's good. I put a note about that in the pinned comment of the video just so people know that I thought it was probably a qc issue and not something typical of Vitamix. Glad you are having a better experience! Thanks for the insight! It's appreciated.
Great review - thanks! For the price, I would have expected more. To Vitamix's credit, the 7 year warranty is really good. Agreed - the personal cup contraption seems like it's an awkward patent-lawsuit-avoidance solution instead of a simpler/more logical implementation that other products have figured out.
Hey, Thanks man! Yeah.... that warranty is pretty great, but given all the other stuff going on with the blender, It kinda makes me feel like it's a forced extended warranty given the price. Such a shame. I was expecting so much out of this one.
Truly appreciate your review. I have been seriously considering a Costco Vitamix, but am so disappointed that they are lesser in quality than would be reasonably expected for such a high cost purchase. Thank you for giving the most honest review I have watched so far! Extremely helpful!
Thanks Lori! Glad to help... There's a chance that I just had a bad unit, but I've seen a lot of complaints about similar issues, so... Maybe the batch that came out when we picked our up was bad? Dunno... In any case, I felt like quality control should have picked that up..
It's pretty apparent that they needed to make rhe basebof the adapter very sturdy since the power of the blender wouldn't hold up simply having it on top. They could have just made a super thick plastic bottom to hoisebrhe blades, the design on the adapter is not good, I totally agree.
In their defense, it never flew off or anything, so I thought I might have just been being nitpick... All the other single cup adapters I ever used had some sort of lock function on them.
I’ve had a Breville for about 5 yrs and every year I have to get a new pitcher because it starts having this high pitched screeching sound from the rubber part that makes contact with base. I love how it blends but this is so expensive. Hopefully this blender is better. Prior to that my blenders weren’t as good and it was the motor that would give out. My cheese bread recipe is the ultimate make-or-break test.
Ours only lasted less then a year. We have only had ours for 11 months and it died tonight. I just hope we got the warranty with it. So we can get a new one.
That's very interesting, the first thing I noticed when I opened the box was how cheap the tamper felt (especially where the mould halves meet at the bottom) The power dial also felt very cheap to me That said, the base and the containers themselves feel very sturdy, wish they put that level of quality into the tamper and speed dial
I agree! I still like Vitamix products, and I realize that they needed to cut some stuff out to get to lower price point, but $400 is still a heap of money to me. Kinda felt that they could have done a little better on that.
Thanks for the review. I will say this, I’ve had Ninja blenders for years. I’m finally going to Vitamix. The reason….Ninja products are poorly made. Every 2 years my pitcher cracks, the motor doesn’t run as efficiently, and replacement parts are just as much as an entire unit. Ninja does not do well with hot soup. Ninja is also LOUD.
Very valid argument! Ninja blenders definitely aren't as durable as vitamix ones. Vitamix uses all metal construction. In their drive mechanisms, so they are built to last those 7 years that the warranty covers. Also, I've seen that cracking on the ninja pitchers... They do a lot better if they are hand washed though... They don't handle heat well which is why you have to get certain models if you want to use hot liquid. If I remember right, Vitamix blenders do hot/cold on their entire line. That being said, my. Ninja equipment has all lasted me pretty well, but I really baby my equipment, and I end up buying new stuff every few years just because I like updating kitchen gadgets a lot... Did have a vitamix for a few years though and it was awesome... It was one of the higher end ones and did everything fantastic though.
*I’m gonna make an accusation about how the pitcher might fall off if I’m blending something light….but I’m only gonna test it with heavy things in the blender*. Makes sense. Other than that, good call in the cup/adapter review and the cheap tamper. No presets like my current Vitamix.
Yeah... I should have tested that a little better... It produced a lot more wobble than past Vitamix blenders I've seen.. Probably would be fine.. Just kinda funky. DEFINITELY not the same as the higher end ones though... All the others I've used in the past have been outstanding in every way... Maybe they cut costs on this one a little too much trying to get down into the lower priced markets? They're getting a lot of pressure from Blendtec now, too.
Hi,i need help with my vitamix E320model,bottom of the on of the container star shaped screw that sits on drive socket,is not spinning freely with my hand, reverse container bottom is spinning freely with hand and getting very hot(star screw) for 40 sec use. Is that normal…
Well, I do know that they run really hot. Some people report that it produces a burn smell if you run it very long. If I remember right, that gear on the base doesn't free spin though. It's under tension. That might be something to contact vitamix via email about just to be sure though.
The e320 is a mess to clean when making smoothies - both with the big and small container. And worst, I have to stand there messing around with to make sure it does it job. I had a nutribullet rx before that and it made smoothies perfectly every time, and I don’t have to standing around helping it.
That personal cup is especially irritating. With most blenders, I just blend some warm water and detergent right in the cup or pitcher and it usually handles it... the stuff that gets on the outside however.... Agree with ya! Thanks for the additional insight!
It says right in the manual that you're not supposed to run those cups for more than 70 seconds at a time, anyway. Apparently, they can get hot and explode. 😵
What blender would you consider to be worth the money? Blendtec or Ninja? Every Ninja I've ever tried was great, but the plastic cracked almost immediately,
I always thought that feature for feature, Blendtec was better than Vitamix.. It's an easier comparison since they're both premium priced. The Ninja stuff, I really like though.. I've not had too many issues with them over the years... One thing I've learned though is that with the Ninjas at least, I only hand wash them. I feel like even though they say they're dishwasher safe, that maybe the hot water in there can mess them up... Had an old ninja food processor that unused to wash in there, and the pitcher got cloudy pretty quick and developed cracks around the base where the blade attaches on the bottom around the screw holes. Since I started hand washing after that incident, I've never had that problem again... So maybe there's something to that.
They would have been better off to leave it out and maybe try to push the price down to $299. That would definitely raise eyebrows. Powerful machine! Glad you are having fun with it!
Great review. Really a honest review. Would you recommend this blender for a newbie? Can we make hot soups and cold desserts, nut butter using this blender? Thank you!
Joe, your comment of low speed performance on this blender is not correct. Many blenders use inertial speed control. With no load the motor overspeeds and shuts itself off in a repeating cycle. Under load (contents in blender) the speed is steady & correct for dial setting. Even with very thick contents the motor will vary the power to operate at correct speed. I agree on cup adapter. The problem with the cup shape is corrected by starting on LOW to break up larger or frozen contents. Even with rough contents higher than speed 5 need not be used.
First time I used it - it didn't blend my protein shake/smoothie. I thought ok maybe it is very specific about how and when the ice, powder and liquid needs to be added. 2nd time I used it I used crushed ice and layered exactly as the manual suggested. The thing overheated even on 5. Maybe I got a bad one but for $400 this thing should have been able to do as good of a job as my $50 Ninja that worked flawlessly for 8 years. I am taking it back. Never been so disappointed with an appliance. I was so looking forward to having something special/nice in my kitchen now that my kids have moved out. This is not it!
Yeah... I wasn't super impressed. I did a comparison video for this and a Ninja power blender, and was prety surpised at how it wasn't really showing me enough for that steep price tag.
I was going to purchase one from Amazon as I live in the UK, but I don't think I will now as the price is so high and the quality is so bad it sounds like a bag of nails and the speed controller looks very cheap. Are you sure it is made in the USA and not China ? THANKS FOR SAVING MY POCKET, Bob in the UK
I think the problem was that vitamix cut costs a little too much on that model to sell it at Costco.. 300 bucks isn't cheap, but it is for a Vitamix. They're highe rend models are super solid. I might have been overly critical in that review, but I had pretty high expectations on it... Especially when you compare it to blendtec... Makes them look outdated in a lot of ways.
The lever on the left will pulse when you push it down... You use that mostly for when stuff gets a little stuck inside or when it's having trouble blending stuff. You just use it in short bursts.
Just received this as a gift for my birthday. Now I’m nervous to even use it! Haha. If I end up not liking this Vitamix blender, what would you recommend I exchange it for?
Well.. It all depends on how you like it. My biggest gripe was with what you get for the price... but if it was a gift, that's a non issue..... and a pretty fantastic gift, actually. Happy Birthday, by the way!
Unless you can catch some kind of crazy sale, Blendtec and Vitamix will be a bit over that. IMO, the Ninja stuff is pretty hard to beat in that bargain space, and even really gives the more expensive stuff a run for their money. Here goes a review of their ultimate system. You can really do just about everything with it.. I even have a video on here using it to make a pizza totally from scratch... ua-cam.com/video/VDHLPfgmCSM/v-deo.html
Greeting from Scotland 🏴 Which other models would you recommend? I don’t want all the bells and whistles, just simple . And I expect I would have to pay more to guarantee a better quality model which Is fine Over here they have ones like the professional 300 for £499 Professional 750 for £649 Vita prep 3 commercial for £699 Drink machine 2 speed for £495 Drink machine advance for £695 Barboss advance for £695
Nice review! I’m deciding weather to go with this vitamix or the ninja foodi smoothie bowl blender combo from Costco, mainly for smoothies and smoothie bowls, I saw you reviewed the ninja also, what are your thoughts comparing both? Thanks
Just did a VS video between the Ninja Foodi Power Blender and the Vitamix Explorian E320... the models of both sold at Costco... In editing now, and will go online Tuesday morning if ya wanna check it out!
There’s no way you could add the cup if it had things in it without spilling it no matter what kind of adapter it was. My guess is just in case you don’t have it on right and it leaks it won’t make a big mess.
Ya know... I was thinking the exact same thing, but the outer shroud thing has holes in the sides so maybe not... I dunno. I've seen a lot of blender companies that have just basically made a twist on cap style one and as far as I've seen, it hasn't really been a problem... Personal choice on that I suppose... It works fine, so there's that.
Hello. Your review is excellent. I was looking at this blender on the Costco site, so I searched for UA-cam reviews. I have the Vitamix Pro 750, which is a quieter build. But, after the 7 year warranty expires, and if anything goes wrong with the 750, I was wondering which model to get. After seeing your review, I will not be getting the Explorian. Too loud, for one thing, and also that cheap quality of the underside tabs and speed control knob. I noticed my Pro 750 was making a bit of an electrical smell, so I contacted Vitamix. They sent out a new container. But the noise it makes is substantially louder than the other container. I've made a video and sent it to Vitamix, showing the difference. As for other blenders that are cheaper and very reliable, do you have any recommendations? I've seen reviews for Blendtec and Breville, but they don't seem as good as Vitamix reviews. Thanks so much!
Heya, Sashine! Thanks for the nice comments. I've always been a fan of Blendtec (and Vitamix as well). Blendtec's usually come in a little cheaper than Vitamix, and they also tend to have more cool home kitchen type of features. I've always thought that VItamix was a little dated in theire styling and features. They're pretty bomb proof, like the Vitamix blenders, too. As far as inexpensive blenders go, We use a Ninja Foodi here at the channel, and I really don't have too many complaints about it. I don't expect it to last as long as those high end brands, but I could buy 3 or 4 of them before the cost catches up, and luckily we haven't had any problems thus yet with reliability. So that's always an option. I do like that Blendtec is built in the USA, like Vitamix however... I like that a lot. You gotta be careful with reviews.. Everyone has Biases... Even I do, even though I try really hard to keep that out of it... Still, it's always best to get a wide range of opinions.
@@JoesPhenomenal Hi, thanks for your message. I live in Canada, and I've noticed that our Costcos here no longer have Blendtec blenders online. When they did have them, they were getting mediocre reviews. Vitamix always did well with their reviews. I sent a video to Vitamix comparing my older 64 ounce low container with the new one that they sent. The noise difference is quite substantial, and I can't go over speed 5 on the new container because the sound level is unreal. They wrote back to say it's normal. Normal? Why is it so much louder than the other one? It's not much different than the Explorian when I use the new jug. Anyway, I will not be a repeat customer of Vitamix, so maybe I'll try the Ninja when the time comes. Or possibly a KitchenAid blender. Speaking of KA, have you used one of their 1.3 HP DC motor 7 or 8 quart stand mixers? I'm thinking of that when it comes time to replace my trusty 1989 ProLine. Thanks very much, and have a good day.
Sounds like maybe they are using different bearings in the blade assembly or something... Something is definitely different... I have a KA Classic stand mixer... It's a old one but is still going strong. Mine is 5qt though, I believe.
Hi, Melvin. The Vitamix Explorians are just under $400 bucks right now. I have an affiliate link to that blender in the video description, but I will post it right here also to make it easier for you to go check out. I do get a small comission on link purchases. It doesn't change your price, but I do like to make sure people are aware of that. Here ya go!: amzn.to/3lLXPRn
I was trying to check on that for you... I can see a grain pitcher on the accessory page for the explorian, but it doesn't say it's compatible when you click into it... Maybe it is but it's just not listed? I would recommend calling them about it to be sure before ordering it. Here goes a link to the explorian accessories: www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/shop/explorian-series-accessories
Heya Anna. Thanks for watching! You're right. In that video I was definitely nit picky. The reason for that is Vitamix is the king of blenders. They have history of great products. With that also comes really high prices as well, however. Vitamix released the e320 to try to compete in the more economical markets. The managed to get the blender down under $500, but it had to come at a cost to do so, evidently. The problem is that at the end of the day, it's still 3 to 4 times more expensive than everyone else in that segment. If they had released something for around $200 bucks or so, I would have likely been happy with it even with a few flaws since they would have to make some deeper cuts to get there. At that price though, it just makes it look sloppy (that's just my opinion though). I still think they are an amazing company, but that particular model just didn't sit right with me for that price since it's still higher than most people would be able to afford.
@@JoesPhenomenal I have had the 5200 for 10 years(still works) . Just bought this one and hope it lasts just as long. Even with the minor design flaws you mentioned it is a much better blender than anything on the market. Not to mention their customer service is impeccable. Which is a huge plus in my book. 5200 bought at Costco but this one I bought directly from vitamix during their huge sale (50%off) just an FYI as far as cleaning it not as difficult as you made it seem and screwing on the bottle isn't that hard either. And as far as volume, blender bottles are only 20oz unless you fill to the very top then maybe 24 I agree it's expensive but your getting a product with a 7 year warranty and excellent customer service. Those cheaper blenders may not have that. NINJA only has a 2 year limited warranty. No contest in that department
@anneleblanc1661 yep... All valid points. That's why in all my more recent stuff, I always tell people to check ou several different opinions before they buy stuff since different people are going to have different priorities, etc. I did mention that fantastic warranty that Vitamix offers in the video (which even includes 2 way shipping). I couldn't really put as much emphasis on it though, since personally, I've never had a warranty issue with any kitchen equipment other than the ice maker on my Samsung refrigerator, so it's hard for me to ding anyone for short warranties.... Definetly gives you a great sense of security though, especially when laying down a lot of dough.
Glad it's working well for you! Like I mentioned in the review, I suspect I had a faulty test unit, as vitamix had a ays been rock solid. I expected a lot out of it too back then, so there was a bit of disappointment projected in there too since I expected so much out of it... Not super fair admittedly.
I am glad in the newer setup Costco offers, that large pointless bowl for the cuts isn't there, but the color choices kind of suck. You only get Grey/black or black are your only options. No white or red which I'd have chose either of those colors over the grey/black options. I just bought the A2300 version which seems like a nice one. Costco has it for $520 bucks but it seems like only an online option. It does save $130 bucks off the original price, which is why I went for it. I was going to just get the machine and work my way up on the accessories as time allotted for good deals. I was going to wait it out till the next B-Friday for deals. I don't really get why the accessories some are more expensive than a brand new Ninja blender or a NutriBullet. I get the slogan you get what you pay for, but dam I agree with you, some of this crap is just way over priced like the the blender containers and the metal one that is upward towards $200 bucks which is absolutely ridiculous. Good video.
Your A2300 is way better than the Explorian, IMO, so I think you did good. Vitamix does have that amazing warranty, but I feel like that gets built right into the price. They're good blenders, but I have always felt that a lot of the cost with them and All-Clad is more a labor cost issue than a quality issue. The motor is the most expensive part, and made in bulk you wouldn't think that part could cost them more than maybe $100/per if that.
@@JoesPhenomenal oh, wow that’s insane. Yes I honestly don’t get the huge jumps in price? To add programming to the device probably cost them very little especially when you do it all in quality. Getting parts machined isn’t cheap, but if your doing many of them say millions vs a few hundred. The cost per unit is going to be far less. You once you make the parts in Solid Works and do all the finishing settings on the CNC machines and they are banging a few very quickly it keeps costs down. I think your right I am going to love the new machine. Thank you for the insight. I have a degree in Machine Tool. 🙂
It does.. I think I was a little overly negative on that due to the fact that I expect a lot more out of Vitamix. So that might be a little unfair in a lot of ways, because I graded them a lot against their existing reputation... When you're the biggest and baddest, you always have to bring the "A" game. Like I said in the comments before, I also think I might have received a bad blender on top of that. Other people aren't experiencing the problems with the dial that I did... so maybe something that slipped through QC.
@nativelovewithrayandrocio8336 I think they lower end of their line is now getting a lot of parts made overseas... Maybe that's where the difference is.
Our ninja just crapped out after 9 years. Forced my wife to get this for herself for Christmas; she is the smoothie fanatic after all. I’m wondering if it’s so loud because of the fact that it’s 2.2 HP? Does any other blender have that power?
Heya MIchael... Yeah.. that thing is way loud. It's really powerful though. I'm thinking that the metal driveshaft might have something to do with that, but I think you're right about the power probably being the main culprit... Have you considered Blendtec? They have kinda been stealing Vitamix's lunch money lately. The pro 800 has an 1800w motor, Has a shroud that is supposed to make it the quietest blender in the industry, has a 10 year warranty, and is also made in the USA like vitamix. I have a link here so you can see what I'm talking about. This link is from my affiliate account, though, so if you were to purchase it, I do get a kickback from amazon. It's doesnt affect your price though. Just figured I should mention that. Anyway, here goes that link: www.blendtec.com/products/professional-800?bvstate=pg:2/ct:q
Here goes a link to all the accessories that fit on those explorian blendrs. Hope this helps! www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/shop/explorian-series-accessories
I’ve emailed a uk company who sell the e310 to see if they know of any issues with the variable dial being loose I’m not sure but it looks like the dial is not tightened up properly on the inside of the unit or it’s come loose internally . An electronics person will know . Maybe that’s just the way it is and feels spongy 🤷♂️
Thanks for the review, but I'm left wondering why you got a Vitamix based on your complaints, especially the multiple ones about noise. I thought that you must have a napping baby in the house. LOL!!!
You don't seem to understand how the personal cup works. You first fill it up with the goodies and then tilt the base upside down to screw the cup on to the base. Then you turn the base side down and insert to Vitamix. No spilling whatsoever. If you had read the manual you would have seen the pictures.
It ended up not being too bad other than a drip here or there depending on the contents.. I still felt like the cup was still a little too narrow, IMO. I read all that stuff. Just wasn't super enthusiastic about the design. That's just my opinion though. A lot of people probably like it that way. Thanks fine, too. Thanks for your input though! Hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season!
@@JoesPhenomenal I very much dislike the design of the cup adapter. It's terrible. They definitely could have created a better design by making the cup much wider, similar to a mason jar, etc. It's very odd, lol.
Yeah.. Those things are bulletproof. Awesome warranty too. Which model do you have though? I was a little disappointed with the Explorian, but then again, I've had the 7000 series ones in the past, so probably not a fair comparison.
Wasn't so much that I hated it or anything, but IMO, at least with this one particular model (and the possiblity that there might have been some kind of issue with the review unit), it doesn't compare vbery well to the rest of the Vitamix lineup (which is fantastic). Still a good blender, though, and Vitamix has a legendary warranty.
Well, I might have been a little hard on them, but in my personal experience, it was a tough justification for that price tag. I guess they cut some corners. Their higher end ones seem a lot more solid.
@@JoesPhenomenal i've used their standard no frills commercial blender quite a bit and it really does everything i've ever asked of it. i hate the height of it though. it's so tall that it's hard to fit under a counter. plus the noise is pretty unpleasant...not that other blenders aren't also loud
I hear ya. I was probably a little hard on it. The price and the great reputation of Vitamix made it a little more disappointing. If it had been a cheaper blender or lower brand, I probably wouldn't have had as many gripes. In any case, it's still a great blender.. just not up to the level of Vitamix's other models. Appreciate ya, man!
I get ya.. That's all true, but I just didn't like the coke bottle design of the cup in general and feel like they really could have designed that whole attachment a lot better. The whole thing felt a little bit like an afterthought to me. Totally appreciate ya, though!
Dude, in all honesty, you're bashing this blender wayyyy to harsh! Its a GREAT blender and it has the same motor as the more expensive ones. Vitamix has killer motors and warranties which is what you are paying for. I bought this for my mom and she will NEVER use another blender brand again. The noise is on par with the other, this isn't a barbie playhouse blender, this is a commercial grade unit, silence is NOT the focus, longevity and performance is! The dial is not as bad as you claim, the others are a bit more firm but its not "cheap!" The only thing i agree with you on the negative is the personal blender cup which is a strange, awkward design but it works 1000 times better than the Ninja, Nutribullet, or other brands! I got it around Xmas time for $270 at Costco a few years ago and there is no blender out there than can handle my ice cream/nut butter makings better than Vitamix!
Heya, Rufus. Yeah, I think your right. I was overly harsh because I was probably expecting a little too much as our last Vitamix was around $800 15 years back. It's definitely is a good machine, and like I mentioned in the pinned comment, it looks like I probably ended up with a unit that had a few QC issues. They have bomb proof motors, and the warranty is the best I've ever seen (which even includes 2 way shipping). I do feel like Vitamix needs to start innovating a little more though. Their closest rival, Blendtec, offers models at similar price ranges that include a lot more modern features. The Explorian we tested was pretty much exactly the same as our model from a decade and a half ago from an aesthetics and feature set, and that makes the design feel a little tired and dated. I know that has worked for them for a very long time, and the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind, but I also feel like the competition is a lot closer than it used to be, as well, and sitting on the lead can cost one the game. Just my 2 cents, anyway. I'm probably wrong. One interesting thing worth noting is that Costco just dropped the price on these down to $299. Now... at THAT price, I think it's a whole different ballgame. Hopefully they can keep it at the price for a while, because it's a steal at that! Anyway, thanks for you insights! All true and valid points!
@@JoesPhenomenal Vitamix is an over hyped overpriced piece of junk that shows "error messages" according to "customer service" who demands extensive troubleshooting on the customers part. After all that, it only pulses for one second and shows the same "error messages". IT IS IN THE NEAREST DUMSTER!!
@@vrforseniors9830 did you see my review? I didn't recommend it. I thought it was too pricey for what it is, and my review unit had some quality control problems.
That price is tough to swallow for a lot of people. Sometimes I feel like I put too much emphasis on price, but it's rough out there for a lot of people. Gotta feel like you got a super good deal, these days.

@@JoesPhenomenal ok thanks
Hello could you tell me what blender you recommend???? Please???
The motor underneath lets off a slight smell and it's a little loud ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq but considering it's size and how hard it works to do the job, it's sort of expected. I assume the smell will go away over time. Overall, I love this cute little blender. The extra cups and lids are great too!
Yeah... That smell is just from the first couple of uses if I remember correctly.
*I had one of these before and it lasted many years and I used it a lot. It blends **MyBest.Kitchen** chops ,grates. Does most anything you would want to use it for. A lot of bang for your buck. A litlle loud however it so fast it is not bothersome.*
They're definitely powerful machines!
I use ear protectors
Hey... There's an idea!
I’m used the the noise; doesn’t bother me
This is the most honest and thorough review I have ever seen. Thank you for that. Much appreciated
Glad it was helpful! I thought I was a little overly critical... But when you factor in the price tag, that changes things a bit.
Seems like the accountants are taking over vitamix :(
The noise and everything else is pretty much on par with our vitamix 5200 model back home. If we had to do it again, would we get one? The short answer is YES!
Thanks for the input! You got that at an amazing price!
Thank you 😊
After 12 years with our old vitamix, we finally got this onefrom Costco. We couldn’t be happier!
They definitely are made to last! Very powerful also! Good for u!

@@terrifictomm You bet! Have a wonderful rest of your holiday season!
Thank you for taking the time to review - we are looking to get one for out church. I can tell you after working with some people they would not think to turn the cup over before unscrewing.
You're very welcome! Thanks for taking the time to watch. As far as not thinking to turn the cup over, I can't say much... I do plenty of things that make people question my intelligence.. lol.
I just got one brand new in the box for $70 at an auction. I love it.
That is a score right there! Good for you, Madam Speaker! Lol
Score!!!!!
Awesome ! What a score
You are so right.. The personal cup with blade is so weird. They could have given a lid and done away with the holes and made this another jar😅. It's irritating to use this blade and I struggle. They have another blade base but it's it's priced at $139..😢
Yeah.... all the vitamix stuff is a little rediculous on the pricing..... except their immersion blenders.... Those are pretty competitively priced.
Our old V-mix lasted 13 years before the plastic cracked at the bottom of the pitcher. Still works and could probably seal it with epoxy....but we just bought the 320 because we can. Time to make a protein shake and go kitesurfing!!
Nice! Kitesurfing sounds awesome! I see people doing that all the time and it just looks like a blast.
Assembled in the USA. Gobal parts. Nice Review
Whew, I'm so glad I found this review / tutorial. Especially for the personal cup blend. Thank you!!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I appreciate everything you demonstrated. I will read the direction book because I just need to be sure I haven’t missed anything. So thanks again. I have had three nutribulets and they did not last.
@@JoesPhenomenal the Costco return policy really helps too, you could return it at any time if it breaks or you just can’t take the noise.

Thank you for the wonderful review. All the lamentations I think are shared by everyone. Why don't you listen Vitamix?

@@ralphwaters8905 I dunno... I kinda reminds me of something they came up with by putting a bunch of spare parts laying around together.
Yeah.. Totally agree.. Love their stuff, but I think it's wort it to spend a little more and get the better models. I've been looking at the a2500.
I love mine and everything about it
Great review - thanks!
Yeah, the personal cup adapter cover looks like a splash shield for people that might put something hot in and cause it to spray when turned on.
Vitamix will call you a LIAR!! When you complain about their terrible piece of SHIT!!
Excellent review, for the price I was expecting a much better design on the cups and much quieter, I will go better with the Blendtec machine.
Blendtec Blenders are really nice!
The good thing is that vitamix had a 7 year warranty.... So if the cheesebread kills it, you have some peace of mind.
Ours only lasted less then a year. We have only had ours for 11 months and it died tonight. I just hope we got the warranty with it. So we can get a new one.
Yeah... That's a bummer.... Vitamix carries a 7 year warranty though and they include the shipping, so I'm sure they'll get ya taken care of.
That's very interesting, the first thing I noticed when I opened the box was how cheap the tamper felt (especially where the mould halves meet at the bottom)
The power dial also felt very cheap to me
That said, the base and the containers themselves feel very sturdy, wish they put that level of quality into the tamper and speed dial
I agree! I still like Vitamix products, and I realize that they needed to cut some stuff out to get to lower price point, but $400 is still a heap of money to me. Kinda felt that they could have done a little better on that.
Great Video. Thank You!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I too, find the cup attachment is a weirdly constructed contraption. Bulky; not sleek at all.
It seems like it was almost an after thought or something.... or they had some spare stuff laying around and told a guy to make something with it. LOL
The commentary of this video made me laugh quite a bit. 5:48 & 9:08 particularly. Good review. Funny guy. A Loud & Weird blender - Chef Joe
Lol.. Thanks! Glad you can appreciate my weird humor. Ha haaa!

I believe it.. That thing kicks out pretty massive power.
Your video is awesome!! Thanks
Thanks! Appreciate ya!
Which one would you recommend?
The 5300 is in roughly the same price range, and is a way better blender IMO.
Is the Rod fruit smasher RACK that goes on bottom ring sold SEPARATELY??
The tamper? It should come in the box. When we got that one, I think it was in the outside of the foam packing stuff in a slot.
@@JoesPhenomenal Oh ok thanks!❤️
I have one purchased at Costco - love it - but I don’t use the single cup blender thing
They would have been better off to leave it out and maybe try to push the price down to $299. That would definitely raise eyebrows. Powerful machine! Glad you are having fun with it!
Super helpful thank you! The individual smoothie cup is essential for me so I will pass! They should design the smoothie cup like the Nutibullet.
Your welcome! Yes! The nutri-bullet has a great cup on it.
Great review. Really a honest review.
Would you recommend this blender for a newbie? Can we make hot soups and cold desserts, nut butter using this blender? Thank you!
Yes you can! It will handle all that stuff pretty well... Then again it better for that price! It does a really quick heating job on the soup though.
@@JoesPhenomenal Thank you. I will go with E320 this time as we have a deal in our local Costco
Nice!
Thanks for the corrections! Appreciate the info!

How to & when to pulse button?
The lever on the left will pulse when you push it down... You use that mostly for when stuff gets a little stuck inside or when it's having trouble blending stuff. You just use it in short bursts.
Just received this as a gift for my birthday. Now I’m nervous to even use it! Haha. If I end up not liking this Vitamix blender, what would you recommend I exchange it for?
Well.. It all depends on how you like it. My biggest gripe was with what you get for the price... but if it was a gift, that's a non issue..... and a pretty fantastic gift, actually. Happy Birthday, by the way!
Which blender + mixer + grinder would you recommend which is under $350 ?
Unless you can catch some kind of crazy sale, Blendtec and Vitamix will be a bit over that. IMO, the Ninja stuff is pretty hard to beat in that bargain space, and even really gives the more expensive stuff a run for their money. Here goes a review of their ultimate system. You can really do just about everything with it.. I even have a video on here using it to make a pizza totally from scratch...

Ya know... I was thinking the exact same thing, but the outer shroud thing has holes in the sides so maybe not... I dunno.

I have E320from Costco. I want to use a dry container on it. Do you know if it is compatible?
I was trying to check on that for you... I can see a grain pitcher on the accessory page for the explorian, but it doesn't say it's compatible when you click into it... Maybe it is but it's just not listed? I would recommend calling them about it to be sure before ordering it. Just got scammed on this unit off of the market place .😢 he said it was a 7500 unit . Very similar but my bad for trusting him.
Ugh! People are terrible.
Saw other reviews where none of those negatives were an issue. You really dug deep to find flaws. Lots of nit picking
And as far as volume, blender bottles are only 20oz unless you fill to the very top then maybe 24
I agree it's expensive but your getting a product with a 7 year warranty and excellent customer service.
I have the E320 and I love it, mine isn’t clunky as you put it, it does everything one expects. Your review is negative from start to finish.
Any time, my friend!
This review definitely has a negative slant throughout,.
He is right.

Put the cup on 1st common sense
