I’ve been listening to Blondie from the time they burst on the scenes in the late 70s to the present. Only in 2024, some 40+ years later did I finally take notice of their most amazing and outstanding drummer, Clem Burke. Better late than never. This guy is forever in that top tier of time-tested professional drummers (Charlie Watts, Keith Moon, David Grohl, Roger Taylor, Mick Tucker, etc). He passionately knows and is versed about his craft. This guy is good.
40 years on, Like he said " we all fell in love with Debbie" .. But man I loved those drums too.. He invented punk-pop-rock IMO... Clem is still my favorite drummer of all time...
Warning video game reference. When the video game Rock Band was out, the forums let anyone make a top 10 survey. I posted 10 names as "Most Underrated Drummer in a popular band." Clem Burke won by a wide margin. Chris Frantz also did well.
@@Irishstew6969 No, and you're unlikely to find anyone call him underrated, except on YT, From Gen Z'ers who are discovering him for the first time, and therefore think nobody else ever appreciated him.
Clem is one of my favorite drummers and earliest drum influences for me. Never knew just how good his feel, time, and chops were until I was older. Seems so down to earth in the interview. Just a big fan.
We had a great wee band a few years ago and we all thought it was because me and the singer were like the new Albarn and Coxon but when it all boiled down to it the drummer we had was like Clem Burke reincarnated. Our songs weren't up to it.
Clem is a very important part of Blondie.
LOVE THIS INTERIVEW, Doctor Burke, you are the warm and wonderfulest of human beings.

The GOAT, if you listen to any Blondie stuff it is his beat....WOW
This man made Blondie songs sound so good. It's a crime he's not better known and respected. I'm not sure you could ask for a better drummer.
Oh he is respected. Very well respected indeed

I've never heard anyone 'underrate' Clem Burke
@@Irishstew6969 You likely haven't walked on the moon either.

Seriously one of the best drummers!
And one of the biggest rock fans in the world! Such a cool, down to earth guy
God!
Agreed!
I totally agree....one of the most under rated drummers of his era and genre....
One of the greatest drummers ive ever heard. such power, unshakeable propulsion. just wow. he was the rocket fuel of Blondie
My favourite drummer
Next Level Drummer. Clem 🏁🏁
One of the best rock drummers in my opinion
Clem Burke, incredible talent!!!
Cute, too.

not an exaggeration to call hum a drumgod
Clem is the man on drums. Miss him playing Premier Drums
Clem seems like a fantastic guy. I wish I was stuck next to him on a long haul flight,
Best drummer I’ve ever heard!!
I was lucky to meet him in 2004 before a Blondie concert ! One of the nicest, sincere and polite person I have ever met ! Very personable !
he's is one of the great rock drummers
One of the best drummers ever
Saw him play with eurythmics on their revenge tour in 86 at Wembley Arena , literally took the roof off !!!
God speaks ...what a top guy and so down to earth.
Great drummer.
PS. The best bit of advice I ever heard:
Never walk out of a bookies with a smile on your face!
Clems cool, Good job Tom.
Tom's a likable guy.
FAVORITE CLEM BURKE SONG?
"DREAMING" for me.
You look AH-MAZIN Clem❤❤❤
Isn't he cute, though?
They always act like Drummer's aren't that bright. He lit up in the dark, fantastic drummer too.
He still does. I've seen him twice in the last couple of weeks.
@@sarahjct Where's he playing?
Clem is True Jersey.
He calls himself a Jersey Boy.
Gotta admit, Tom Green makes a much better guest host than Pete Holmes.
" It'll be new, Notre Dame will be nice and new." Sheeesh, only an American could say that !
Joke. Only an American would think it was serious.
Do you not recognize irony?
He's got cool hair. I always thought so.he dress like the Beatles did back in the early 60's
He's a good looking guy, always was and still is.

nice to read an honest, self effacing post. thank you.
He would of been a great replacement for Keith Moon
He would have been far superior
"This girl Eilish"...good choice
Billy eyelash sounded about as interesting to Clem as a dropped drumstick.
Larry Mullen Junior - who.?
On Notre Dame Cathedral fire: "It'll be like new."
Me: Uuummm, dude I think you're missing the whole point of what made these buildings so special.
No, you missed a joke.
@@princeofcupspoc9073 I mean .... really! Ummmm....Dude, it's called IRONY.
He sounds like a combination of Al Pacino and Christopher Walken
First
Tom Green is a horrible interviewer.
Weird hair weirder old man
he's done more with his life than you probably will
Okay, dear, you got your attention you crave.
